I have noticed that all the previous Zelda games were of various difficulty. In my opinion, The Wind Waker was one of the easier games that has been released (especially in combat), and Ocarina of Time was more difficult. I think this may have been part of Miyamoto's idea when he said he wanted the Wind Waker to appeal to more age groups. But I don't know how everyone else responded to the Wind Waker's difficulty. So, I was wondering what everyone else thought: Should future Zelda games be made more difficult than the Wind Waker, about the same difficulty, or less difficult?
Way more difficult. To win a Zelda game for the first time in 4 or 5 less days than winning a slightly harder remake of a Zelda game I've already won is an outrage! (by which I mean I won Wind Waker much faster than the Master Quest)
How would one go about changing the difficulty of a Zelda game without changing fundamental features of it, like the very design of the puzzles? I can understand giving enemies more or less health, and stonger or weaker attacks, but I find that the difficulty of a Zelda game tends to be determined by the puzzles.
Wind Waker was actually pretty easy - so i'm gonna say more difficult. Of course there should be some easier parts - but although I won't admit it at the time, i LIKE to get stuck. Then after I finally complete it, i can feel happy that i accomplished this "hard" level or something.
Definatly harder than Wind Waker. When I first played OoT I died so many times fighting Barinade, and that includes running out of fairies packed into 3 bottles. By equilvulent I didn't die once in WW, using maybe 1 fairy.
Enemies need to do more damage. Items need to be less prominant (Beat any big enemy you get an orb filled with hearts arrows, magic and bombs. Never had anything like that before) and everything in general needs to go up a notch on the difficulty ladder.
Originally posted by Jurre not to be mean but I think barinade is one of the easiest and funniest bosses becuse if youre moving the whole time he will miss his attacks, thats dont even inflicts much damage!
I know he's easy now. When I first played OoT i'd never played a game like it, so I thought I could block everything with my shield. Meh. Anyway, lots of people say Bongo Bongo is the hardest boss they faced, whereas I found it dead boring and easy.
Windwaker wasn't difficult at all, so I think the future Zelda games can be more difficult, and I don't mind to be stuck either, cos it gives more satisfaction after you've solved it but I don't wanna be stuck that bad.. I shouldn't get frustrating or anything up to the point that it's not fun anymore..
But even tho it was pretty easy I really loved WW!
WW was easy, but I think the puzzles were sometimes challenging. Nothing that had me pulling out my hair (and certainly nothing like that god-awful Water Temple in OoT...ugh... suffer post-traumatic stress to this day), but I think that comes with what I once refered to as 'Zelda Logic'; most of us have been playing the Zelda games since the first, so we've developed an intuition based on what we learned in previous games. Like, if you're in a temple, and you come across a room with one locked door and one unlocked door, chances are the key is in the unlocked one, because that's how Zelda works.
And I liked the fighting a lot. More on a visual standpoint thought.
Heh... check out the poll results... Everyone voted for "More difficult."
And so did I. I think it was definitely much too easy. The puzzles were fun, though they certainly weren't up to par. The enemies were just silly. They didn't hit nearly hard enough for me to even consider using my shield most of the time. The only things that made them worthwhile were the Savage Labyrinth and perhaps the Shark Island cave.
Different degrees of difficulty would be hard to implement, as has been said. Maybe they could give us a true Second Quest, like in the original, and make it harder after you've already beaten the game? Not only would it be a challenge for those who like that sort of thing, it would give it more replay value.
well i borrowed WW and i still havent beaten it since i havent had a lot of time to play it....but...
i havent died at all. its way too freakin easy. i mean i love the game. the battles, the visual effects but come on! its way too short and way too easy. but cheer up! The frustration that you get and the repetivness of sailing makes up for it.
But even though WW had many flaws...I still loved it. I want to get Master Quest really bad though. Is there a ROM? (my friends' parents wouldn't let him reserve the game so he didnt get OoT:MQ when he got the game...)
Well alot of zelda bosses are easy. Especially the 3D ones, for example bongo-bongo: just shoot him with arrows real fast and slash his eyeball a few times and hes dead, waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too easy. TWW was soooooo easy I didnt die once like a lot of others, too short the dungeons were fun but there was hardly any, and searching for the triforce of courage was boring and simple.
