Because TP is going to be land-based and it will mostly be open fields, do you think it will have the spontaneous nature of WW?
In WW barrels floated to the surface, off the horizon you'd see a spectacle with your telescope, you'd find random items and islands (by just sailing), and there were soooo many sidequests. But now do you think that Hyrule's fun will just be limited to riding all over the place??? They could enhance TP by having secret towns or unmapped civilizations. Secret (unmapped) caves would be awesome- they'd have a mini-quest and after you beat the final boss in the quest you'd end up outside over a waterfall and as a prize you'd get something optional but cool (like the hero's charm, or a crystal that changes your tunic color, or the biggorons sword). I'd be like "WOW" if I found this by myself. I hope you're also as free as you are in WW- they didn't box you in on your home town :::cough::: OOT :::cough::: and at any point in the game you knew you could square off against Ganon- you just weren't strong enough, as opposed to :::cough::: OOT with the seals and crap :::cough::: The only thing I don't want to hear is "Hey Link! Before I was taken to the Twilight Realm I hid the Triforce of Courage! But I'm not going to tell you where they are! THAT'S HALF THE FUN! THE OTHER HALF IS REALIZING IT'S IN EIGHT PEICES AND HAVING TO FIND A MAP ON A RANDOM ISLAND AND SPENDING ONE-THIRD OF YOUR MONEY TO GET IT DECIPHERED BY THAT RETARD TINGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Spontenaity?
That is exactly the same why I like land far far more then the ocean. In the ocean, you had "things happen spontaniously to you" as opposed to "being able to do anything you want spontaniously" which is what I found OoT afforded me.
The problem I had with WW was exactly waht you stated, everything was mapped and ordered, I spent most of the time following charts from point A to point B as opposed to exploring freely as I did in the 64 games. The sidequests in the towns and villages were great, but the ocean felt empty to me. I don't see your last two points at all, WW 'boxed you off' in the same way, only via unnatural means (KorL telling you where you can/can't go) as opposed to physical means. You were boxed in your hometown at teh start of the game in both games. You were never allowed to fight Ganon until the end and even if you were free you are more then powerful enough near the start of the game (damn I've always wanted to play a game like that though, which consists entierly of sidequests in order to become powerful enough to face to final boss).

Re: Spontenaity?
Well, I liked Hyrule field and MM more then the ocean, it was empty. There was only a couple of settlements and villages. They sould make side quest long and fun like in MM. I really like the idea though gamemaster, but I think oot and MM had lots of space for video games back then.

Re: Spontenaity?
I'm hoping for a little bit of the spontaneous nature of the environment, kind of like Wind Waker. I loved the weather patterns in Wind Waker, the thunderstorms were beautiful.
Little random settlements out on the plains would be neat...maybe finding a tent with travellers in it? Something not quite expected being found would make the game very interesting. |

Re: Spontenaity?
WW wasn't that spontanious. Sailing was trite, and when something actually came our way it was suprising. Don't compare it to OoT or MM, because it was dull because of the lack of power. The big N could have done a much better job keeping you occupied in the ocean, they just didn't know what to do with the power.

I'm sure they have learned from this and will make a Zelda game in the future were you'll need your horse to cross the fields AND a boat to cross the ocean between continents.

Re: Spontenaity?
Yes, Ectomy- they did box you in, but with the beginning- you could go to those far off islands... if only you had a boat.
And (you wouldn't be allowed to fight Ganondorf because you weren't strong enough, but) Ganondorf was in the open, it wasn't like "HEY THERE'S A BARRIER STOPPING YOU FROM REACHING GANON, SO, YEAH... That's why you can't fight him. In WW They very practically say "You're not strong enough- so don't try"

Re: Spontenaity?
Wrong. first he needs to regain the master swords strength because it is the blade of evils bane. He also needs to reunite the triforce of courage before going. In OoT you have both, it's just the little barriers are stopping you. you loose.

Re: Spontenaity?
tWW was boring sailing around... Having to get off your cheap ship... Getting the wind right... It was just darn right annoying
![]() When we have a very nice horse to ride round on its going to be alot funner... And remember we have the power of the Gamecube not... Not the N64... There will be tons of sidequests and secrets everywhere I am sure of it ![]()

Re: Spontenaity?
I actually enjoyed the land more than the sea, every time I had to sail, I set Link off and went to eat a snack!
Even the 'spontaneous' stuff happened at set screens so all you had to do was take a short cut aka right to the place you needed to go, and you'd be safe. It was really boring unlike OOT at night when the skeleton people would pop up in front of you.

Re: Spontenaity?
Ooh, "you loose", how original. How daring and creative.
I totally agree with you on all the sidequests and hidden things, it would be so great in TP. In games like Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life there are certain cutscenes and extra items you can only get when you decide to go to a certain place on a whim, and there's no way you could've known that was there by yourself. That's what I think makes a great game. In OoT there were boulders and holes hidden in the grass where you could find Fairy Fountains and Pieces of Heart, and that was a great start to having lots of extras in the game, but Nintendo could decide to take that idea in a new direction. Maybe they could have a special weapon or hidden dungeon that are entirely optional, but you get some kind of cool extra cutscene or something which makes the storyline further developed. In the end, I hope TP makes excellent use of its huge and expansive overworld. It can add up to so much more than a boring horse ride.

Re: Spontenaity?
The big N says that eventually in TP u can control the wolf transformation. I think it would be cool if in the twilight zone as Link(not wolf) u found a random cave like in ALTTP FS where u have to fight some really hard bosses and one final boss to get some all-powerful optional weapon.
