Lightbulb The Sounds of Twilight Princess

Will the music of Twilight Princess inspire, haunt, and mystify, declaring it to be the best soundtrack for a zelda game everywhere? Or will it be a bunch of remixes ( some of them were good) like the Wind Waker?

I think it will do well, but it sounds a bit too ambient for me. I really liked the placeholder music for the first trailer (GDC) - the choir would sound great in Zelda games.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

the trailer music was good, but the ingame music from the e3 demo was a lot more "zelda". i expect some remixes from past zeldas to come back, but so far im especially impressed with the music when you fight the boss on horseback.

I think the next zelda will be darker with dark music. In this zelda the good guys might just lose, with the drowning of Hyrule and stuff.

its classic zelda music, in style, not in remixes. also at dramatic scenes, its even more amazing when a full orchestra and choir come in. id say gamespy is right.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

They confirmed that the most popular (and best) japanese music composer who had only made music to the absolut best of the best japanese movies are going to make the music with Koji Kondo. He is suposed to make the orcestrad (sp?) music elements. He sais he is proud of it and have admired Nintendo for a long time. He also made the music for the 2nd and 3th trailer. So if you liked that then you will like the ingame music ;-).

I read this some where on the net but I can't remember where. I think it was gamespot or ign don't remember.

Anyway, this is awesome that the best japanese music composer makes the music! Unfortunately I can't remember his name but it really sounds (hehe) cool!

Good. The WW music was almost non existant, in some areas I had to turn up the sound to like 40 (ear splitting with regualar music and voice acting) just to hear a few faint sounds. And most of the really good music (Gutair dragoon roost remix when Medli has her vision, or Zelda's lullaby) are played for a minute or two during cut scenes. This games soundtrack really disapointed me. I am glad we are going to have real music again.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

of course orchestrated music is the way to go for best quality, but there should be some unique use of unorthidox varieties.

Think bongos, maraccas, other culturally specific music, as well as other styles. Some jazz or funk to go with the pseudo-classical variety we get with zelda would be great.

Even more leftfeild, some electronica (house, techno, trance) could add the often absent mood of being in a very weird, unfamiliar, freaky land (samurai jack did this to great effect).

One style which could really add to Zelda (provided it fit, not everywherwe) would maybe be some heavy rock or even metal, to mix it up ,and give a sense of tension andurgency to what link is currently doing. Of course, if these things were to be added anywhere, and not carefully done so, it would be crap.

The tribal african style of music, with the chanting and such (lion king) would go great in something like the forest temple we have seen.

I don't know, i just want an overall better aural experience from Zelda. It's all the same instruments/tools.

I have to disagree on that, I think that TWW has very good music that fitted perfectley with the games cartoonish style. It maked you feel happy....kinda..
some of the small islands(sp?) didn't have music though. so you're right on that, I guess, but take outset island, or better yet, take dragon roost island! it has a certain vibe to it that really gives the island it's own mood..

I think nintendo is trying to surpass every espect of the previous zelda's, that's why I can't wait for the new music in LOZ: TP. I really hope they have more music like gerudo's fortress and dragon roost island, but also strange themes like that one in the forest temple in OOT, it was weird I know, but every time I hear that theme I get all nostalgic (nostalgetic? bah!... i don't know ). I just know that the music in TP is gonna rock!

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

The music in all the Zeldas has been excellent, but from the trailers this game's music is sure to surpass all the rest. Still, I hope a lot of it is darker and more forbodeing.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

As long as the classic Zelda theme comes back, I'll be happy. Unfortunately, listening to the in-game horse battle demos, it sounds like they're using the OoT overworld theme instead . Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful piece of music in itself, but it's not the Legend of Zelda theme. Sigh.

Mmmm. But its more relaxing, and was the perfect backdrop to riding Epona. And I think they might spice it up a bit more.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

I heard the trailer music closely, and if you pay close attention, you can hear zelda tunes re-mixed in the music, for example, there's a part which sounds very similar to Zelda's lullaby.

I'm very excited about the new zelda soundtrack, especially the twilight world theme. I'm something along the lines of tww in hyrule castle. When you enter, its just such a strange quiet, and then this sad, deppressing tune. What I'm guessing at is silence in the foreground, with the sound of wind and floating debris, and a melancholous song in the backround.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

Oh I love Zelda's lullaby. Its my favorite Zelda tune.

Well I loved the Zelda theme in Soul Calibur 2 (easily for me the best version of that song), so I hope thsi game will top it.

That song (Medli's awakening) was fantastic. However, it is not a guitar. It's a lute (an instrument that is like a softer acoustic guitar.) That was fantastic with the flute/pan flute.

It sounded like a gutair to me, but I don't really understand music, apart from whether I like it or not.

Re: The Sounds of Twilight Princess

I agree that WW has a bit less music (I don't say bad!) then the other Zelda games, I loved the music in LttP, OoT, MM etc. And from the sound of it TP will have a similiar kind of music. So that makes me happy

My personal favourite is when you play Bolero of Fire together with Sheik. And I love the ochestral music when you climb the stairs to Ganondorf in OoT.

I loved the Seranade of Water. I hope Link gets the Ocarina of Time back, somehow.
