DS Zelda

First off there needs to be a new forum just for DS Zelda. >.>

Second read all of this.

Appearently Four Swords DS isn't the only Zelda game Nintendo has cooking for their dual-screened system.

In the latest issue of Famitsu, Nintendo revealed a few details regarding it's new Zelda title. It is a 3D game just like it's N64 counterpart, and all of the masks from the game's predecessor are back, including a few new ones. The game also has tons of new ocarina songs; ones from Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask as well.

The touch screen is used as the inventory screen. Touch the item you want, and then drag it over to the button that you want it to be used on. The environments are huge too. You will be able to roam the lands of Hyrule, Termina, and some other worlds as well. To gain access to these other worlds, there is an ocean-like scape you sale to get to them, much like in Wind Waker. It will be interesting to see how this all rounds out, taking into consideration the DS can only hold so much data.

The story line is appearently much darker than that of Majora's Mask. The game takes place five years after the original. The game has the same Link character that was in the N64 games. When Link slaughtered Majora's Wrath, he only destroyed the incarnation of Majora's Mask (not to be confused with Majora's Incarnation). When he did so, he released Majora's Soul. Because of this havoc, many other forces, that had remained to be seen until now, are trying to get him. On his journey, Link finds some others who are trying to unravel the mystery of Majora: Henry Locksmith and Dennis Williams. These are obviously characters based upon the popular Sherlock Holmes novels.

Unfortunately Nintendo refused to give any screenshots at this time. There is currently no release date for this game.
I also have a picture of the box... Please enjoy. BTW GC, I'll have that list by the end of the week as I am too lazy to type that much right now.

Re: DS Zelda

Can you give me a link (no pun intended)? That sounds... interesting. Isn't Termina a parallel universe?

If you think I made the cover art then guess again... I can barely use paint.

It was PMed to me so I can't really prove it. You just have to belive me.

About the parallel universe thing. Yes

Re: DS Zelda

Is this real? That would be amazing, just the type of killer-app the DS needs. It sounds like way too good of an idea for Nintendo to make. This would be so much better than another four swords spin-off. If it is 5 years after Majora's Mask, than this game would feature an adult Link again (The Hero of Time, all grown up!) Combining huge masses of land with an ocean would be another brilliant idea, as would using the second screen for your inventory. I really hope this is true. The Henry Locksmith, Dennis Williams part does seem very un-Zeldaish though . . .

Does this have any chance of being real?

I also think it would be a bit lame for them to reuse all of those masks and Ocarina songs. If this is real, it really seems like Nintendo is trying to mature the franchise, which is good. Hopefully it is not at the expense of the gameplay.

Re: DS Zelda

How reliable exactly is this information? I am VERY skeptical of anything not annouced by Nintendo, but as MM was my favourite game of the series, this is potentially very exciting, and would definitly make me buy a DS, whereas at the moment there is only a very slim chance of me getting one, and if I do it will be once the price is way down and a Zelda is out for it.

Edit: After having a quick shifty round the web, http://famitsu.blogspot.com mentions nothing, and googles "translation" of the official Famitsu site shows throws up no interesting phrases or words. Do you happen to know how recent this edition of Famitsu is?

Re: DS Zelda

Dude that sounds awesome....but if there is something to complain it would be this: Let the Hero of Time be (he's been idolized for soo long, I just think it's time to let him sorta "die out" and let other Links be as fortunate). I'll be honest, yes I've wanted a 3D Zelda game (I was hoping the FS game was going to be 3D, but I don't know how that would work out...), but I wanted some originality (as in a completely new Link, or use another Link that hasn't appeared in a second game). With this game and FS on the way, I'm deffinentally going to buy the DS. Well to the people who've wanted OoT/MM on the DS, I guess their dream will sorta come true. As for this "more masks" buisness, I hope there's a Rito Mask *crosses fingers*

*Reads where the info is coming from*
....this came from a forum? Ok, what I thought was too good to be true now has the possibility that it isn't. Forums usually have rumors going about the net. If someone has the latest issue of Famitsu, then probably they can confirm this news for us. If not, then I'm just looking at this game as a rumor, and the picture as photoshop.

Re: DS Zelda

i think theyre definitley going to make couple zelda games for the ds i own one and i can say that there is so much potential that can come from it. its unbelievable how much data can be held on those real small cards cause i have super mario 64 ds and there is so much more in there than in the n64 version and ive read that there was still space after they were done with it. an oot and mm remake could be easily made but i am hoping for a new game that is similar to oot and mm. even if this game is a rumor its likely that something like it will be made in the near future

Re: DS Zelda

Hmmmmm, unfortunately this is looking less and less likely, the guy who reported it on the forums is apparently rather unreliable, and he has also managed to "loose" the site he got it from.

Re: DS Zelda

The DS is RIDICULOUSLY expensive in Brazil. So sadly,I'l probably never own it,.But,man that's great news.And...it's interesting that it's rated T,isn't it?If this comes out before Zelda 05(and if it's a REAL game, not some lie),then it will be the first "T" Zelda game. That wouldn't be a problem,I've been playing "T" games since I was like,9?Too bad the DS is too expensive in Brazil, curse you, business administrators...

EDIT:Now that I think about it,the game is probably a rumor. It came from a forum, the detective names are too "non-zeldaish",the picture could have been easily photoshopped,we don't have any proof...ok,now I've read the entire article, and I think this game is TOTALLY a hoax. This was obviously some person's try at a joke. And it's not funny. Not one bit.

Re: DS Zelda

Also Oni, there will not be a DS Zelda forum until at least the first Zelda game for the system comes out for it, and even then the admins might decide to just make the Game Boy one a Game Boy and DS forum, although I doubt that as it already has, oh, LA, FS, OoA, OoS and TMC to be discussed in it, and the remakes of TLoZ, AoL and ALttP could probably be discussed in there a bit as well.

I agree that they shouldn't use the Hero Of Time any more, let another Link have his moment. (Wind Waker preferably, unless he appears in Zelda '05, then another Link). I would much rather have a sequel that's centuries after MM, than just a basic form of MM using an Adult Link from OoT, that takes place about 5 years.

However, I kidn of find this hard to believe, it would be great if it's true, but I'm not sure if I'm a believer, I want to hear Nintendo say so first, then we'll see. I hope the game is real, but too bad it would the Hero of Time again.

Re: DS Zelda

It looks fake, it already has an ESRB rating and I could have made that cover in Microsoft Paint.

Re: DS Zelda

That is fake. Very obviously so.

1. That is a crappy cover.
2. That boxart is something I could make in about two minutes, as long as I had access to Photoshop and some filters.
3. The boxart is in English, and it is on a US DS case. And it's supposedly from Famitsu, a Japanese magazine.
4. They never release the titles of the Zelda games this quickly.
5. Look at that title. "Majora's Redemption". That practically screams lousy fanboy wet-dream.
6. That boxart already has an ESRB rating. Go to the ESRB site and look for the game in their database. is it there? Nope.
7. They never release story info so soon.
8. The premise of the story is foolish, and, like the title, appeals to ignorant, gullible fanboys who just want to see a dark game with OoT Link again.

I could go on, but I should hope that even the most brainless of you get the point by now.
