massive battle

I was wondering. Wouldn't it be cool to have a massive battle in the next Zelda game. A battle where two armies say gannons army and a Hylian army battle eachother. Hyrule field would make a perfect setting especially with the size it had in the trailer from the last E3. It also could involve differnt races like gorons, zoras and ritos flying through the air. Of course Link would ahve a special role. Let me know what you think of this.

Last time I checked Zoras and Ritos didn't exist at the same time. Anyways, I really don't think so. That would take the focus of being a hero away from Link and give it to the Hylian army, heck, why do they need Link if they've got a large army? If the Hylians lose then there is little Link can do against an army, if they win then they don't need Link. Besides, unless it was a cinematic the framerates would be lower then Half-Life 2 on the Comadore 64.

You really don't know the power of the cube to make a statement like that.The gamecube has the power to do something like that and as proof is resident evil 4 and starfox assault.both have many enemies attacking at once with beautiful backgrounds and a good framerate.I know cause I'm a tech junkie

would be neat if it was a war, and link isnt a hero yet he is just another man in there but then finds out he has a much greater destiny or someting. i dont know

no, no war. i know that you probobly got this from the trailer with the group of like 25 bokoblins. well we know that that is not enough to make an ARMY outta, and besides, link could take 'em. but if they could show like an army overcoming the hyrulean one, in order to show how dire the situation is, than i GUESS it MIGHT be OK, but i'd rather see link battle 'em

Why does everyone love the idea of Link being in an army? That idea stinks. It would be terrible. I hate computer characters killing other computer characters. And besides, an in-game war would be SO non-Zelda-ish.

sound like the LotR games, lame. LotRish or not, they would never have that in a Zelda game, it takes away the whole essence of Zelda. Link, as a young boy, relying on what courage he posseses and going out to do what he can to save the world. Not, Link, relying on several platoons of soldiers to save the world. It just doesnt fit. Period.

We don't know that. They could exist in the same time in '05.

Like Oni Link said.. it's only ~25 enemies on the trailer sequences. Looks nothing like a war. Looks just like a battle between them and Link on his horse to show off the new ability to strike down enemies while on the horse.

I agree. Link should not be in any army. But having two armies battling it out as a cut-scene - for storytelling purposes - would be sweet. That is what was missing from the sequences in OoT, when the Deku Tree was telling about the war. The fire looked cool, but the armies were missing.

Well.. Again, I don't think Link should be in any army.. So I agree with you there. But the army could belong to the kingdom [probably Hyrule] and they could be allies with Link.. but Link himself would just continue his quest just like usual - but with a war in the background. That would be nice in my opinion.

I think that Link commading a bunch of troops or being one himself would just take away from the whole way that everybody has come to love Zelda. Gotta go with the traditional Zelda style with a few variations.

Its probably gona happen cause in the trailer at E3 there was a huge army coming over a hill and it was definatly evil.

There were at the most twenty monsters. How twenty makes an army, I have absolutely no idea.

i think that would be really cool, ihad the same idea when I first saw it, but now every time I watch it it looks smaller and smaller. But I do think that a battle or war between ganons army and the other races is a cool idea.

I don't think it will have a war setting. I believe the trailer was just trying to show the new maturity of the enemies but I could be wrong.

Now how do you know there were only twenty? Last I saw the clip, there were still monsters coming over the hill. As for an army, it would make Hyrule too smart when compared to other LoZ games. They've never had much of one, and those who are in the army all get subverted. Now I don't think it would make Link lose his heroicness though. In movies the leader of the army who does the most impresive things is still a hero.

It could be good actually if it was just a temporary event. Like, you defeat a boss in a dungeon and when you come out you find a village under attack, and you have to save it. It doesnt have to be bigger than that.

Well then the last time you saw it was a long time ago because near the end all the enemies had come up and the camera circled around the emeies showing that there was not an army but a few of them.

It would be nice if there was a battle. No, I don't mean Link VS twenty baddies. I mean about 2000 Hylians (or whatever other races might help) against about 4000 baddies. And the storyline had better be damn good.

I think that there should be something of a war. However, it begins as a cut scene when you're ontop of Death Mountain. He see's the war and realizes he has to head down the mountain. Perhaps you have to fight a boss before you do, in any case, once you get down there, you see that the land has been war-torn. Link runs off down the mountain, only to find he is too late. Then the you've got to fight off the remaining enemies before Hyrule is destroyed. That's something that I could see happening...

Because no more than twenty were shown. I don't know what I didn't see, but assuming that it's an army based on the fact that there were more than four or five monsters in one place at the same time is rather blind.

I hope the new game is like that, it would be cool to have a war for Hyrule.
