Great Fairy

I wonder what the Great Fairy will look like in Zelda 05? I suppose that the Great Fairy could be an aspect of the game that will be left out when the new game hits the shelf. I really hope that the Great fairy will look possibly more like a fairy ha ha ha. Seeing the differance just in graphics when I take a look at link the really wonder what that will do for the Great Fairy. Hopefully the look of the Great Fairy will get away from OoT where she looked like a she-witch, and will have to look better than the Great Fairy in TWW, you know that four armed freak. I dunno, just a question. What do you all of you think the Great Fairy will look like in Zelda 05, if you what her in there at all.

Re: Great Fairy

after a while you really could have started saying GF istead of spelling Great Fairy all the time, everyone would have still known what you were talking about, just a thought.

the great fairy will most likely be back, but i for one would like her to be more elegent and have that real mythical vibe going, like instead of finding her in a cave of some sort have her in a garden with tree's all around, and the tree's have pink leaves falling( the color of the leaves would be different for other fairy shrines) and have a huge arc way leading to a great shrine that is completly unique to that specific fairy.for example if your going to recieve fire arrows from the fairy have the shrine be coverd in flames, make it so the player knows what the fairy is all about even beofore they recieve the upgrade or item.

Re: Great Fairy

Dude, just as long as the Great Fairy doesn't resemble the ones from the Wind Waker, I don't care what she looks like. xD Of course, I'm almost positive they won't. I suppose it'd be alright if they take a more mystical human-ish form...sort of like in OoT, but...not as scary. O_o; .....and without that horrid laugh. x_x

Oh yeah, and that idea about the trees and stuff that SwordsMan X said, that'd definately be a nice touch. ^_^; (It kinda made me think of Cherry blossoms, and I've always wanted to see those in a Zelda game..XD)

Re: Great Fairy

^ I really like that first picture.

Now there's a thread here called The Great White Fairy... and that's where I found this picture (it was part of Beta Testing for OoT)
http://img240.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img2...etafary2uh.png

Now if they took away the "Angel Wings" and replaced them with like Dragonfly, or even Butterfly wings, (and of course upgrade her looks so she won't look too polygonal) then I could deffinentally see that as a Great Fairy. In all of the 2D Zelda games, it seems to me that all of the Great Fairies (aka: the Fairies that own on pond to heal you) it seems to me that they all pretty much look the same . Why not just take one of those fairies, and turn them 3D? That's what they did for the Beta Testing of Link in OoT. They took LoZ Link and made him 3D. Of course that didn't fly, but I'm sure the Great Fairy will. Now as for the Great Fairy Queen....that may have a little more time to think about. In ALttP she looked just like her other "sisters" (except for the fat one). In tWW and FSA she looked like a little child. How will the Queen of Fairies look now? (Sidenote: Since she's a queen....doesn't she deserve her own kingdom?)

Re: Great Fairy

Fairies... in my mind, the ideal fairies for this upcoming game would have a misty, ethereal quality. Fairies are being of magic, mystery, and beauty... they are otherworldly, strange and mystical. The way they are portrayed should convey this quality.

Surprisingly, I think that SwordsMan X articulated my thoughts fairly well:

Quote:
the great fairy will most likely be back, but i for one would like her to be more elegent and have that real mythical vibe going, like instead of finding her in a cave of some sort have her in a garden with tree's all around, and the tree's have pink leaves falling( the color of the leaves would be different for other fairy shrines) and have a huge arc way leading to a great shrine that is completly unique to that specific fairy.for example if your going to recieve fire arrows from the fairy have the shrine be coverd in flames, make it so the player knows what the fairy is all about even beofore they recieve the upgrade or item.

Just imagine... you're walking through the Lost Woods. Rather than finding a rough cave entrance and entering there, the woods around you gradually grow quiet, and mist envelopes you the deeper you go into this area. Strange green lights start appeared, and suddenly, through the thick mist, an ancient, moss-covered arch appears. You step through it... into a shallow, dimly lit pool, it's radiant light shinning green on the trees around you. Then the Great Fairy, a being of mist and and lights, appears, surrounded by lesser fairies.

Oh yeah. That could be so very cool.

Swordsman X had another good idea, here, when he mentioned having different fairies with different aspects. For instance, while the Forest Fairy was green and misty, a Great Fairy in a Fire area would be different.

You're walking through a volcanic crater, lava flows and flames all around you. You find a cave with a beautiful arch, fancifully carved to resemble flames licking around the entrance. You enter the cave, and as you go down, the lights dim, while, at the same time, the small stream of lava that is flowing down intensifies, and small flames start materializing, and dancing in the air around you, never quite touching. Then you enter a circular room with rubies embedded in the walls, and flames burning along the edges. The little pieces of flame that had been floating around coalesce into a fairy... but this time, rather than a misty, green glowing, ivy-wearing fairy, it's a burning, red fairy with fire for hair and wings of flame.

... I am getting SO carried away here. Anyways, yeah. I think this sort of stuff would be very cool

Re: Great Fairy

I would like to see a realistic version of the Great Fairies from TWW, those had to be the greatest Great Fairy design yet, but just as long as they don't look like scary prostitutes like in OoT and MM I'm good.

Re: Great Fairy

The great faries have to be mystical and beautiful...more human-like though. If you took adult-zelda from OOT, made her all glowing white, and gave her magnificent wings...thats pretty much what it should be like. As for the fairy fountains...they should be a bigger part of the game and not be soo hidden in little caves or holes. They should have magnicifent castles for each fairy. Then again...if they just used all of our fantasy ideas the game wouldnt be too fun and it wouldnt be a real video game. Just wait it out...chances are they're going to come up with something awesome!!!!!!

You pretty much stated what I had in mind. In mythology, fairies are beautiful, elf.like creatures, sometimes naughty, sometimes granting the wish of men. In this case, fairies would be kind-hearted, wise creatures that are willing to help the world in spite of their great power, because they love all other beings.
Frankly, I've hated every fairy Nintendo has portrayed in a Legend of Zelda series. They are completely unaesthetic and completely the most un-fairy like thing I've ever seen.

Some could be naughty and try to tempt Link. Sounds fun!

Even the ones in TMC?
