Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
I know everyone wants somewhere between 8-12 dungeons buts lets be honest...it's not going to happen. We don't know how many dungeons (if any) were even completed last e3 when Nintendo unveiled this game. I have no idea how long it takes to plan out and design/complete a dungeon so I am not going to even speculate on it. However if this game is coming out this year I don't see how Nintendo could get that many dungeons into the game so it makes me wonder how many will be in this game.
As long as the dungeons in the game are exciting and there are some new themes instead of just always fire, forest, and water, etc I will be happy. What does everyone else think? |

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
Well it wouldn't bother me if they did use the same themes as long as they utilise them a bit differently. Theres gotta be at least the number of dungeons that OoT had. The ones in Wind Waker were all well designed however it still let the game down that there were so few...

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
What exactly do you mean with a light themed dungeon?
I'd like some mechanical dungeon, a clock tower perhaps? There would have to be alot of cogs and steam. (!!) What's most important to me is that the dungeons are well-balanced, entertaining and atmospheric. Not the quantity. I want there to be more challenges between each temple and dungeon, but I will probably not have to worry about that. |

The amount of dungeons all depends on what the storyline is, how many things you have to collect from beating dungeons. But if there aren't that many dungeons and even if there are a lot I want to see them long and challenging.

I don't care how many dungeons are in a game, as long as they're good. What would you prefer, 5 really good dungeons or 20 sub-average ones?

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
Why don't you think there could be eight to twelve dungeons? I'm not saying there is going to be that many, but why couldn't there be? We really have no idea how long they have been working on this Zelda after all.
At the very, very least, it's practically certain that there will be forest, fire, and water themed dungeons. Hopefully there will be ice, shadow, and desert themed dungeons as well. They could also throw in a dungeon that doesn't really have an elemental theme; otherwise, there aren't many more to use. While I would prefer more (10-12) 6-8 long, well thought out dungeons would be acceptable. And that doesn't count sub-dungeons. To extend the life of the game, and make it pace better, Nintendo coud also add the following: -Optional dungeons that hide some great items. -Caves that play like small dungeons. The point of them would not be to obtain an item or gem, but to simply make it through to the other side and find new land to explore. I also think it is cool how most of the dungeons from OoT have very unique twists that keep the game fresh. Some examples: -Killing 4 poes in the Forest Temple -Changing the water level in the Water Temple -Saving Gorons, and knocking the pillar on the ceiling (Fire Temple) -The "Viking Ship" in the Shadow Temple -Absolutely brilliant; playing part of the temple as a kid and half as an adult in the Spirit Temple I hope the dungeons in the next game can match this sort of creativity. One theme I do not want is having to escort a character. I had enough of that in the WW. I did not enjoy carrying Ruto around either. |

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
Man, I hope there are more dungeons. And it should be a reall difficult to just get to the dungeon and find it along with the entrance. They should span over a great area, and be very hard.

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
The idea of having the dungeons built around more of a theme, like in OoT, is one that I hope they do in LoZ05 as well - the dungeons in tWW were very well designed, but they always seemed to just sort of be there, whereas in OoT they tended to slip interesting little mini-quests into the overal design of the dungeon (like rescueing the Gorons, etc).
However, I would like it if they returned the 'command melody' style dungeons from tWW, at least in a couple of dungeons, as I actually quite liked using Medli and Makar. And it would help add some diversity to the dungeons - provided they extend the concept a little from tWW. Maybe you could have sections of the dungeon that can only be navigated by the secondary character, or maybe you don't start off with the character but have to rescue them from somewhere in the dungeon before you can use them. |

As long as the dungeons have plenty of puzzles and exciting combat, I'll be happy, really. And maybe having more complicated bosses. When it comes down to it, I'm content with the number of dungeons. Well, as long as the intervals between dungeons are exciting. |

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
For me 8 dungeons would be just right. If they have a really cool atmosphere and are creative and difficult then I am content. I don't mind themed dungeons as long as they are well designed and are in accordance with the overall atmosphere of the game.

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
I must say that I don't care how many dungeons are in the new game. I just want them to be more darker in tone and more mature. I really want to feel like the world is in turmoil and Link is the only one who can save it. I hope they bring back a temple similar to the shadow one in OOT, but make it more intense.
100th post! Hopefully some people felt like I contributed to these forums lol. |

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
I would like to have a elemetal theme or something like it to go along with each dungeons like in Oot. I would not like to have to lug differant sub character around the dungeon like in TWW. Just my .02

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
one of the ways Zelda can evolve is if they stray away from the typical elemental based temples, which most games have. In many ways its hard to take the temples and areas in Zelda seriously when compared to other action adventrues. the Zelda franchise still uses the tired old theme based dungeons:water, ice, fire, wind, earth, etc. most games only start off that way then grow in scale and begin to go passed the element based dungeons or temples.
example, all be it not a extremely good one is the Jak franchise. if anyone played the origonal Jak and Daxter you should remember it for being a relatively generic by the numbers platformer. Now i know what your saying,"Zelda isn't a platformer,"and yes this is true but a platformer is just the base title for an adventure game. In Jak you had the standard fire and other element based quests, but in the sequel which was darker you began to see a much broader spectrum in the way of dungeons, something in theory Zelda 05 should follow suit. to get back on topic, basically in order for Zelda 05 to really be considerd mature and a step up compared to the previous Zelda titles they are going to have to come up with better ideas when it comes to temples and dungeons. it really would show a lack of inovation in the franchise if all we got were some pretty graphics but the same generic gamplay. At one point Zelda was a inovater on a grand scale...now a days it mearly seems like the game is being overcast by its own shadow, and all it can offer is better graphics but no real improvment in the way of gameplay. So basically going back to the root question there should be atleast 5 or 6 plus temples, or dungeons... but if they aren't very origonal then it really will dissapoint me. it already doesn't boad well for the new Zelda becacase WW really didn't due anything new in the way of temples, they were way to easy to breeze through and because they didn't feature any new themes they were easily forgetable.Personally i think the team behind Zelda 05 has alot of work cut out for them if they really truly want to deliver the Zelda expericence we have been waiting for since we bought the cube, because in a nut-shell WW in my opinion was really a step back in the franchise. |

Re: Zelda 2k5 Dungeons
I do remember them saying that they had been working on it since Wind Waker Came out so thats quite a while.
Also, they said that they will not be releasing any videos until E3 2005, which means they are being very secrative about the game. So maybe they had lots more of the game to show at last years E3, but didnt want to. Did you guys see screens from the extended version?? There was one showing link riding the horse through a river. |
