Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

Quote:
The latest issue of the official Nintendo magazine in the US, Nintendo Power, has thrown up a very interesting tidbit of news that will be especially pleasing for fans of the excellent Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Four Swords and The Minish Cap. The superb Flagship, Capcom's subsidiary company, is apparently signed-up to work with Nintendo on a brand new Zelda adventure. Now, whilst this might seem obvious with the previous announcement of Zelda Four Swords for the Nintendo DS, Eiji Aonuma stated that this new game has yet to be assigned to a dedicated platform...so it could technically come out on the GBA, its successor, the DS, the Revolution or even the GameCube...who knows?

In addition, the Zelda producer had this to say about the realistic new GameCube game out later this year, "It is critical that the controls respond to the players' intentions and that the controls are easy to understand quickly. I think that as long as we can keep this 'responsive intuitive interactivity,' a variety of doors are open to the Zelda universe and it is not necessary to pursue traditional Zelda style. We are preparing big exciting things."

Stick with C3 as more news breaks...

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

This is the best news i have heard yet. Not only the whole control and gameplay news, but the fact that it is news that actually is true, not a speculation or Rumour

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

I read this somewhere online and was wondering whether or not it would be the FS DS. Has any other information been released about it ?

This is horrible news. Flagship has never made a truly great Zelda game. I'd rather have no Zelda game than another mediocre one.

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

Then it's true what I have heard from many people on gamefaqs. Lately a lot of gaming corportions have been going bankrupt as a result that they're not make any money. As a result they have to join with others to get their games made to make any money. Acclaim is the most recent to go bankrupt and now Nintendo and Capcom have joined to make a Zelda game. Well I think Capcom have finally made a smart decision. Because if they hadn't start to make games with Nintendo, then they would be bankrupt. And trust me, Street Fighter, MegaMan, Resident Evil and Viewtiful Joe aren't going to cut it for Capcom for much longer.

I really wonder what they meant when they said "it is not necessary to pursue traditional Zelda style. We are preparing big exciting things." Maybe that is more of a hint that this game will be for the revolution? Remember, the revolution is supposed to be just that...a revolution in gaming. Nintendo has said that their new console will change they way games are played so maybe this is another small, but important hint that they are throwing at us. Maybe I'm wrong but who knows.

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

I'm not particularly fond of Capcom's Zelda games, I say their satifactory on the good side. As for the control thing...my analog stick is loose. I can blow on it and it will tilt forwards. The left, right, down etc. work but it's not as responsive as it used to be while going up...I suppose I'll have to shell out about $20 for a new controler depending on how the controls go. Or maybe it comes with a headset that makes Link do exactly what you think! So if you imagine Link licking the ground he'll do it! or not...

Do you even have a clue what you're talking about? Capcom, though they're not exactly the most financially secure company in the world, is not anywhere near a position where it would need to sell out to Nintendo to survive.

This is just good business, for both companies. Capcom gets to earn money off the Zelda name, Nintendo get's someone else to supply the personnel and develop a good game... which will earn them money. This is not the act of a desperate company, it's the act of an intelligent one.

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

Well, I find this to be good news. I won't start saying that "omgz this game will suck bigtime!!!1" before I see some screenshots and/or movies.

I'll keep a positive mind until some more info is released.

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

Capcom games were never the best games. I'm sure it'll be all right. I was quite satisfied with TMC. Though it was very easy for a 2D Game, and not to mention short. I hope it's a GBA Game, because I don't think they'd do too well managing a 3D Game.

I consider Minish Cap the greatest Zelda game since Ocarina of Time. I don't know what is it, but something about it just held my attention and I played it over and over and over. The last Zelda game that really held on to me like that is Ocarina of Time.

This is great news, I hope they continue the Vaati storyline.

Re: Capcom & Nintendo Together Again

Urgh, I'm not excited about more Capcom Zelda games. Capcom's Zelda games aren't much more than remakes of ALttP and LA with different plots, settings, and dungeons. To make people think their games aren't getting stale, they add a new unnecessary gimmick each time like collectible rings, a password system, multiplayer and Kinstones. In the end, their games use the Zelda format but lack the Zelda magic.

However, this quote did get me excited:
Quote:

I think that as long as we can keep this 'responsive intuitive interactivity,' a variety of doors are open to the Zelda universe and it is not necessary to pursue traditional Zelda style.
