Re: There will probly be new bosses
There has only been one boss from all the Zelda games that I found it sorta challenging because it was more of a puzzle than a battle. I'm talking about the OoA boss named Smog(uou had to figure out a way to put himself together (by using the Cane of Somaria) and then attacking him).
Since that felt new to me, I wanted something more like that. I'd like a boss fight that wasn't all brawn, but more brain. Ok sure there is a strategy to defeat a boss (I guess you could call that using your brain), but I simply wanted more. That's one idea. And for another thing I'd like to see in a boss (in a 3D world of course) is to see a boss fight that takes place up in the sky (sorta like the Gyorgs in tMC). You remember in the video game Kirby, there was an item that made Kirby fly and puff out air unlimitedly(sp?)? Well I was sorta hoping the same for Link. Have Link use an item (an item that only appears like 3 times throughout the whole game or something) that makes him fly with the aid of that item and Roc's Cape. And I'd like that battle to begin in the air and end up in the ocean (of course this boss battle wouldn't be inside the dungeon, but Link must go after it and kill it with his sword and Bow & Arrows or something). -BGS

Re: There will probly be new bosses
Ah, thinking of what kind of new bosses Nintendo is cooking up for Zelda makes me think of this one boss thing I drew last year. ^_^ It was a giant lizard/sandworm thingy that would burrow all over the place, even the ceiling. xD It'd...make debris fall on Link and stuff, I think. I don't really remember, I had created it for a Zelda story I wanted to write and gave up on.. Besides, I lost the picture.. It was a GOOD picture, too! ;_; One of the best I've ever made... x_x; But it'd be kinda fun if there were some sort of new boss kinda like that. Not like the sandworm thing from the Wind Waker, though.. o.o;

Re: There will probly be new bosses
How a bout a boss, that doesnt actually play like a normal boss.
Now i know you are all scared and hiding behind your bedsheets and bathroom doors at this proposition, but allow me to explain. Now this would all be a matter of context of course, but say if Link's goal inside the dungeon was to find the relic/instrument/medallion/pudding before the enemy. Now, let's say that for the boss, the enmy is getting the artifact just as you get there, and he rides of out of the dungeon on some winged creature. Now, just as he escapes, a friend of Link's, one that can fly, grabs link by the shoulders and they give chase to the opponent. Now as link, you must do several things. As you automatically follow the opponent, you use left and right to dodge terrain features/ enemy projectiles. The A button has your friend throw you up, in case you can't follow him where he is going, and need to run and then join back up with him. to damage the enemy, Pull out your bow, and shoot, fully manual control to add to skill needed. when you both get close enough, you will have a sword fight as both you and the enemy dangle from your flighted friends talons (assuming its a bird type creature). when enough damage has been dealt, you will lower to the water's level and will swap flight for swim, and hop on some swimming animals, and similar things occur. when all is said and done, it will end on a solid, non-moving piece of land, in a sword fight. Either some cool new gameplay mechanic like this or something completely new and challenging. swap repetitive phases, forms and tactics for better AI and a harder boss.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
The problem with all the bosses in the Zelda games is that they are planned. The programmers know what they're going to do and how to hit them and how they die. I believe in the whole boss has one weak spot and you go for it. But like in most Zelda games, the boss usually leaves their weak spot open to you. The only good one would be a Darknut, because there weak point is on there back, but they always try to face forward. We need more bosses like that and don't move the same everytime either.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
Hi! I'm new here, but I post over at the Gamespot/Gamefaqs board. I thought I'd share one my ideas over there with you guys.
The Boss: Liquid Shadow Knight: Mayrar. Mayrar is a really, really big Iron Knuckle. I'm talking like 10 times the size of Link big, and instead of an Axe he wieldings a really, really big two-handed sword made out of water which is somehow being formed into a blade-shape. His main attack consists of slashing all over the place, totally ruining Link's day. You can't do any damage to him at all ever unless you first shoot him with a D-Arrow, bringing him to his knees. When he's on his knees, you can use your hookshot, aim at the cieling, and use it to drop yourself onto his big, bad back. Then you slash at the back of his head. This is easier said than done, though. You see, Mayrar has a shield made of shadow. In other words, you can't hit him until you remove his shield (which is transparent until a projectile hits it, whereupon it coalesces around the impact point revealing itself to be black) by turning on the lights in the room. The room is incredibly dark, so it's hard to see the lights, but they're there. You turn them on by using your Fire Rod. There's 5 lights, total, and if you turn them on his shield disappears. But if you take too long the lights will go out by themself (since they're torches). Once you do a good amount of damage to Mayrar he'll jam his sword into the ground. It'll lose its cohesion and water will go everwhere. A few platforms will fall off the ceiling, and you have to climb on top of them (or swim around in the water which has flooded the room, but you can't do anything while swimming so you'll die like an idiot if you do). While standing on the platforms in the water you'll be about chest high on him and he'll start to attack you by swinging his big arms at you. These go through your shield (so you can't defend against these), but he'll stop his swing if you damage his helmet. You do this by shooting the spikes which are on the cieling (they appeared after the cieling you hookshot fell away to make these platforms when the flooding started) with D-Arrows. Each time you hit one it'll fall on his head, so you gotta time the shots so they hit him. 3-4 hits and his helmet breaks off, revealing his black, pulsating shadow head. He'll start to get really pissed now since you ruined his cool helmet which he just finished buffing yesterday and yell, making 50 Keese appear out of nowhere and a couple of Octrok's appear in the water. Kill them while deflecting his dark energy blasts with your shield. Some Keese will surround his head too making it impossible to hit just yet. Once all the other Keese and Octrok's are dead those Keese will fly at at you so you can kill them. Now just unload on his head with arrows, D-Arrows, or Fire-Arrows (since you don't have Light or Ice or Burst arrows yet). A few more hits and he's gone. EDIT: forgot to mention, D-Arrows stand for Demi Arrows, which is an item I made up for the dungeon this boss was supposed to be in (the original post of mine that this is from is much longer). Anyway, here's the description I made for them: "These gravity-based arrows are useful for pushing away large objects and do incredible damage to flying enemies (useful since, I'd hope, enemies have a lot more HP in the new game) and can hurt multiple enemies at once since they create a gravity-well on impact, sucking in surrounding baddies. Much of the dungeon is sealed away with giant blocks which you can't push or pull or blow-up, but which can be turned into small little cubes by the massive gravity of the Demi arrows, allowing you to pick them up with ease." |

Re: There will probly be new bosses
I really just want a boss that brings something new to the table. A completly different strategy to kill him. I also don't want it to be repetitive to kill the boss. It gets boring sometimes when you keep doing the same thing over, and over. I want the boss to learn from his mistakes and come from a different angle, with lots of different attacks. For the game in general, variety between each boss battle.

I like Harman's idea. *Shouts at boss while fighting* Relinquish the pudding, fiend! Oh, and Milkman's idea rocks too.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
I am with you I would like to see shadow link make a reapperance in Zelda 05. Other than that, IMO, I hope Ganondorf comes back as well becasue lets face the face I would not feel like a true Zelda game if he was not in there, espessaly with all the build up for the new game.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
WHAT! New bosses! Well thats a crazy idea, I can't imagine a new boss in a zelda game, thats just inimaginable!
Most bosses in Zelda games have patterns that are easy to follow. Most bosses just require you to try hacking away at different parts of their body. I want a boss that puts puzzle solving and battle into itself. For example, a boss that changes color, depending on where and how you hit it during which color period it's in give different results. For example, say when it's red you would have to hookshot up to it's eye and stab it (stab it, not slash) so this means you would have to stab with your sword, arrows, or hookshot. Then once it changes color to blue you go slash the chest and if it changes to yellow you go use explosives on it's heels. Some times he'll flash different colors, when he flashes green you have to hit his chest and heels at the same time (you hit his chest and heels because blue + Yellow=Green), there would be reflectors placed around the room, you place a bomb near the heel and then you go fire an arrow at the reflector which makes the arrow bounce off, hit the bomb causing it to explode. The arrow then goes upwards, skims across the chest of the thing so it's a slash rather than a stab. All this will be done horse back... I want bosses like that, bosses that make you think at least a bit more than the average boss. My idea isn't exactly perfect but it makes you think about what your doing, some bosses in Zelda just required you to stand there and slash randomly, there were some bosses where I didn't have to move from my spot to kill.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
Actually, I think that the Balrog-like creature we see in the trailer is pretty much what I ever wanted for a boss since I started playing Zelda. Dragons (but not a Volvagia remake) would be cool as well as giant insects. By the way, probably a lot of you have already noticed, every Zelda boss that is a giant worm-like insect has the syllable mol in it's name: MOLdorm, TwinMOLd, MOLgera.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
^ wow, you learn something neew every day. Anyways, I hope at least ONE final boss is human, and hard, like a sorcerer or assassin. And the final boss shouldn't always be a guardian, but instead, someone who is looking for the Item that you seek.

)I would really like to see the CI (computer intelligence) increase, no more idiotic monsters walking around waiting for you to hit them, let them dodge, counter, ACTUALLY FIGHT BACK! That is one reason why I like shadow link (or was it dark link) in OOT, he would actually defend himself from your attacks. Other than that skys the limit. NINTENDO can figure it out from there.

Re: There will probly be new bosses
I dunno what it would be called, but I'll try and think of a cool boss idea:
I think the boss should have a warped, slightly psycho feel to it. Like Majora's Mask, just not a mask, and not as easy. I think it should be humanoid, but not quite human. It could use 'pyschic' power (ala Pokemon) to fight you. Also, the boss would have a cool sword. And one of those coats with the fur on the hood. And a maybe even a scarf round it's mouth, to keep it mysterious. One eye should contrast the other, in order to express the irregulairty and obvious difference between the boss and a normal human. His 'arena' would be a pretty feild (like the Moon on Majora's Mask) with colourful flowers etc. However, when he walks past them in order to chase you, the greenery slowly 'turns to the darkside' and becomes dark and rotten. The boss should also be able to turn his arm into fire or something (but still keeping the shape of a human arm). There would be some piano music in the background, kind a of disjointed rhythm. He basically would be like a normal human, just with more 'warped' additions. I don't know what the method to beat him would be....perhaps finding a way to get close (don't know how), then using good old fashioned sword technique skills to beat him. |
