Unlockables

now i know there are a lot of varios threads for various idea on various aspects of various new/future zelda games, but i have a qualm(sp?) about zelda that i wish to explore.

ok, i was walking today, and i realised "hey, i have a nail in my shoe" but then when i started thinking more into it, i got on to this concept "hey, zelda is a lot like that nail in my shoe, infecting and wounding my foot. you start off the game, with no powerups or anything unlocked, and you (or me at least) only really venture out for the unnecessary unlockables after the bulk of the quest is over, which makes me feel cheated. that, and after the 15th heart, heart pieces or items to make link more powerful dont do it for me anymore. i want something worthwile, something fun.

ok, so maybe not like the nail in my foot, but here are my thoughts...

how about a hing where, in say 10 sidequests in the game, you unlock 10 multiplayer minigames in the style of FSA. nothing big, but yeah. like say an abstacle course, some 2 vs 2 games, i'll make up some maps and images soon, a bit busy now.

can you think of anything worthwhile that you would be happy working for to unlock in a zelda game?

Re: Unlockables

Definently. I love unlockables because they extend the life of the game. You should be rewarded for collecting 100 % of something for example.

Unlockables could include-

-Original Soundtrack
-Art Work
-I like your idea of mini-games (it could be a mix of Zelda mini-games, new and old, 2D and 3D)
-increased difficulty level setting (enemies more damage resistant, remixed dungeons ect)
-I also like the idea of a forum. Accessed from the title screen, think the 100 level labrynth from WW. You would survive as long as possible, eventually facing even bosses in this mode.
-Some kind of very fun, dominating item to use in game.

While not an unlockable, I would like to see maybe 2, very difficult optional dungeons that give you large rewards.

Finally, I want tingle turner available for this game. For those who have tried it, you know it can be fun, and even better if expanded. It was the best use of GBA connectivity in my opinion. This is the only interaction I want with Tingle throughout the game, and it is completely optional!

i was thinking about GBA connectivity. how about, ina secret cave somewhere, is a GBASP made of stone, a big one, on a podium. if you have your GBA connected, you can participate in 3 extra dungeons, which all reward you with various goodies for passing. not regular dungeons, ones that use both the GBA and TV, like FSA again, but with differences.

by the by, here is an idea for a minigame i have. 2 vs. 2. blue links vs. red links.

Re: Unlockables

that is an awesome idea!

But maybe not 3 extra dungeons, that is a lot that is out of the normal game and three that some people cannot even reach. Nevertheless the tingle tuner was an awesome idea and was fun to play with and i would like to see it return.

an unlockable soundtrack, probably the best it can offer, good idea.

artwork? Always cool to look at.

minigames? Very good idea, they extend the life of the game, and well if your biased to little minigames they are just unlockables anyway.

and another one of those Labrynth things would be cool, it was one of the funnest things to do in WW.

Maybe also a "minigame" that spans the whole world, like with the tingle tuner on you explore the overworld and you find things, objects, that you need, then you will, after collecting all of them, get like the soundtrack or something: it's like a optional sidequest and an unlockable, two in one! OH BOY! okay sorry i got carried away...

but yea great ideas.

Re: Unlockables

great ideas peopls!
well it would be nice to unlock an art gallery, but not some little dinky title screen scroll down to "concept art", I would want an actual store, a gallery, with a character that resembles the actual art director of the game. perhaps you could take pictures of creatures and people, and the gallery curator does a "painting" of it, so link could go into the gallery, find the "art peice", which would actually be concept art, or official art of the creature or person...

I liked the whole different outfit for link thingy in tWW, but i would have liked it expanded a bit more, perhaps once you beat zelda 2005, a clothing store opens, which features the outfits of every other link in previous games, it would be neat to go around Hyrule with a brown under shirt, no paints, dark leather books, and a long green cap (alttp), catch my drift?

Re: Unlockables

Mabye you could be able to unlock other characters to play second time round, like Shiek or someone similar, just for the slight variations it would bring.

Re: Unlockables

i think the soundtrack and art galleries are good ideas to download, as is the higher difficulty.

i think for a harder difficulty, there should be gameplay elements unique to that difficulty, so that there is some new things for the player, and it is worth it. an alternate ending, another dungeon, and say 2 more items would all be nice. as well as making enemies smarter/ stronger, link takes more damage, and hearts and ammo arent as common, make them rare to find even.
oh, here's another thought. to make the game harder brain-wise as well, each time you open the chest in a dungeon that contains the dungeon item, link gets put in another dimension type thing, and there is a really tough puzzle that needs solving before he can get the item.

...or a hair color modifier. You could choose from bright yellow, blonde, dirty blonde, brown...pink?

Re: Unlockables

It would be cool if they had a Sound Test for an unlockable, e Zelda Gallery, and maybe Zelda Demos, and Co-op Mode for 4 players: Green, red, blue and purple.

Re: Unlockables

ok, we are getting repeats, so i will list the most common suggestions:

- A music gallery
- a sound effects gallery
- an image gallery
- minigames, multiplayer and single
- an uber powerful item
- demos

apart from that, i think all of the in game cutscenes should be available to get, and i think footage of early beta tests would be interesting

Re: Unlockables

Because zelda 2005 is gonna be so HUGE when it comes out, (everyone will know of it) there should be some kind of behind the scenes little movie unlockable, so we can see how a zelda game gets started, what direction the game was originally planned etc.

Re: Unlockables

How about the option to play it through and skip any cut-scene that you wish.. That would be really cool if you could skip intros and such if you just wanted to beat it again!

Re: Unlockables

what about unlocking a co-op for gamecube or nintendo 64. Double the enemies, double the difficulty and presto! you and your friend/brother can fight together instead of swapping turns!

Re: Unlockables

A second quest where you play as Zelda, and you have to rescue Link. Dialogue would be cleverly altered to make the new plot work.

And naturally it would in expert difficulty with items changed to better suit the princess.

Re: Unlockables

Gah, heaven's no, no Zelda second quest. That would whack things up, that's A. a second game altogether and B. would cause DRASTIC storyline plots.

Unlockables?
I agree full heartedly with a co-op mode, but just in temples. Somewhat similar to Tingle in The Windwaker and the GBA, but with an actual fully playable character. Like, maybe as an unlockable you can unlock the four sword [like oni link, no timeline connection, just a little toy to play with] and then it could be a 3d version of Four Swords in each temple, but you can go in deiiferent rooms, like there's a room with four doors, at the end of the rooms the doors lead to are switches that must be pressed simultaneously, so each guy has to go in, fight/solve puzze, and flip the switch at the same time. Yeah I know 'Dream on I Mack'.

A - How is that a bad thing? and B - they could easily alter text and totally pull off the character switch. C - It's only a second quest, you don't have to play it if you don't want to (if you're insane).

Personally, I feel like I have to play as Zelda at least once in a Zelda game that is at least decent. I need a good experience to cast away a bad one...

And that bad one is... ZELDA: THE WAND OF GAMELON -- NOOOO!!!! THE MEMORIES BURN!

Re: Unlockables

i like vacumgods idea of the behind the scenes, that would be cool.

i think extra difficulties is a good one, as it is easy to prgram, and does add more replayability. nothing to lose.
