the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

it might be a small thing, but the sky looks great in the trailer. I noticed it cause let's be honest, in almost every game the sky is the worst thing done (even in half life 2)!

so how about weather conditions, what do you want from that? should they take a big role in the game (like the song of storms, the song of the sun etc.)?

Weather features are not that important to me. As long as I am not running around and being able to easily count the number of pixels in the rain it works for me.

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

Well the trailer has showcased a different type of weather and day/night. Maybe the game can use Gamecube's internal clock to it's advantage. When it's December outside, you can see link's breath because it's cold, and then depending on the month outside, there will be different weather in the game and different path's would open up. A bit like Oracle of Seasons, but more linear. These path's opening wouldn't stop you from the main quest though, the paths would just be for sidequests and heart peices.

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I really liked the weather system in The Wind Waker. I wouldn't mind if it rained sometimes, sunny sometimes, etc. Maybe some things would only be accessible if it was raining (like entrance to a dungeon). And yes, I think the sun's song and song of storms should return.

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I would like too see them put the weather into use.
Being able to access certain areas only as a certain time of the day would be awsome.
Although i wouldnt like them too over use that otherwise it would get a bit annoying.

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I would love both songs to return...also I better idea

maybe this would be better for a Reolvtion game but when its raining the rain should be exertamy relistic if it drops some water a puddple or spash will apper then as time gose by if you go to that area it would be a bigger puddlie also with thunder it could torm down onto towns and some houses or tree would get struck by lighting

I did like the WW weather system, but sometimes it rained too much. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed to rain once everyday. I hope Zelda 2005 expands on the weather system.Maybe tornadoes or hurriances? Snow even,Majora's Mask had it.

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

^exactly rained everyday annd night... Now I would like to see longer storms if it were to rain, perhaps for half to a full day.
Now if it were to rain for extended periods of time, I would like to see link's expression change, the horse to shake off the rain, NPC under tarps or awnings, shivering, that kinda stuff you know.
If it rains, everyone should be aware that its raining

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

Ah, now this is something I've wanted to talk about.

In reality, Zelda has had only two normal weather conditions: Raining or not raining.

Sure, WW did the stroms very impressivly. (you're actually able to see storms coming over the horizon) But, I feel more weather/climate conditions are needed.

And I don't mean just snow. It'd be awesome to have some days be cloudier than others or have a soft misty rain one day and a thunderstorm the next. Have a peaceful clear sky day right before a windy day. That kind of stuff.

Infact, I would like weather to be the theme for a future zelda.

Maybe we would get a realtime lighting, maybe Link could even be hit by a bolt of lighting?

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

yea and he would, like, instantly die!

And for those who dont know, it storms constantly out in the ocean. So it was quite realistic that it was raining all the time in WW.

But yea, even if it doesnt really help the game, i would like an intricate weather system.
im not saying that the weather shouldn't affect the gameplay at all, i just dont think it should be a large part of it... unless it was the theme, then it would have to be involved in everything.

There isn't must of a chance of anyone being hit by a bolt of lightening anytime. Almost no chance. But I could see it being a factor in an area where lightening hits often. (Like the thunder plains from FFX)

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I'd like to see a more realistic weather system, like with rain and everything, and from the trailer, it looks like that that's what we're going to get.

Another thing I'd like is for Nintendo to make the sun more realistic. Ever played Medal of Honor on the PC? That's what I'm talking about.

.....that idea sounds all too familiar....did I say that at one point? I swore I did (I'm not accusing you of plagerism, all I'm saying is great minds think alike).

As for weather, I like juhuty's idea, but aside from seasonal weather, I'd like to see Thunderstorms, Snowstorms, Oooo and just to make it interesting, have there be a Tornado or two in there

One little thing I'd like to add is this: In meteorology you can tell how the weather is going to be like by the study of the clouds. Now I'm sure not everyone of you remember Freshman Highschool Biology class when they were talking about meterology, but I think that could be a nice touch to realism (and so will the constelations in the sky, just like the ones we saw in tWW).

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I love Zelda 2005's weather effects in the trailer. Clouds cast shadows on the ground, sunlight shines through the trees, the rain and fog look great, the sunsets are dramatic and the night sky is amazing.

I thought Tigerboi's idea was cool. Some days could be extremely windy, clouds could cover the entire sky at times, and if it rains nonstop for several days then there could be some flooding in the fields.

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I hated when it would rain only for 10 secs, and then just stop in WW. I wanted real rains that last for at least half a day. In the new game, I would also like to see at slight alteration in the music when it rains. You know, to make it feel rainier.

personally, i think the weather is a major part of the scenery, but it shouldn't affect gameplay much

Re: the sky/weather conditions in zelda 05

I would love to see some dynamic weather paterns. Also, assuming there's a mountain dungeon, I'd like to see snow on the mountain. Snow that actually collects as time goes on. Snow that if Link steps in, it actually has depth.

I'd also love to have time continue to go on, even in towns. Weather paterns as well. That's what I liked about Majoras Mask. And I like the idea of instrumental changes with the weather. That would be very cool

Just as long as seasons and time didn't flow in real time... it would be a shame cause you'd have to tinker with the clock every time you wanted to see a new season or play at night or something like that. It would also negate the controlling of time.

They'd have to create one hellova good weather pattern engine though, I mean to make things seem naturally flowing rather than just random events of weather.

Well that would be the exciting part of it. If you beat the game in 3 months, you can play the game 3 more times and it will look slightly new than before.

Very, very true. The weather system may not be thaaat hard (I'm not an engeneer, I'm just a fan guestamating). But if you want the flow of seasons, that would take even more work. Probably on the first day of the season, everything changes (a little sign will pop up saying "It's now Winter! The wind is harsher, snow is on the ground, frost is in the air, and new paths await!")
