Ha. I have fantisized about this in my sleep and dreams, (and also in algebra class) One can only hope.
But I don't want to be negative or anything, but it is not gona come out in my life time. So I will probably pass on the Zelda tradition to my kids so that if it ever does come out they will be able to ejoy it, maybe.

I don't like the idea that much, unless somehow you just thought "run" and you would run, instead of getting on a treadmill and actually having to run. If you had the sword, you might accidentally decapitate a few people in your blinded fury.

I actually like the idea. What's better than running around in Hyrule and fighting monsters? it's an ideal way for a Zelda fan to stay in shape and maybe even lose some weight if that's desired.

It would be nice, to actually BE link, but it would have to be done right.

You look down and you see your tunic, dirty boots, bloodied hands. You feel your long locks of dirty blonde hair touch your cheeks. ..... yeah

I love the idea. Of course we'd need fields and fields if you really wanted to run around. Heh it might just to get all Link's weapons and tunics, boots, etc. and fun around a field chasing bees (hey there were bees in MM). And take out (Deku) sticks by the butterflys. Heh, that wouldn't be fun. Virtual reality would rock though!

Ah yes, I've slighly touched on the idea of having a virtual reality Zelda game at Innovations to Future Gameplay. I'm sure if the Virtual Boy became popular back then we'd be seeing something towards a virtual reality Zelda game even closer in the future.

Re: stupid concept-if we live long enough may happen

Virtual Reality is far closer then you might think. Last March, they had someone controlling things on a screen with brainwaves alone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3485918.stm

A few years back they had a monkey playing Pacman with an implant. I don't have a link, unfortunately.

Have you read into the gyroscopic technology? I don't know many details, but it would allow a game to detect the movement of, say, your hands. And that's not far off at all; it's entirely possible that it will appear in the next generation of consoles.

3D headsets, which give you true 3D by giving slightly altered views to each eye, have been around for a long long time. None-electornic ones have been around for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

Give us twenty years, and I can gaurantee that some form of virtual reality will be commonplace.

well it's rumored that Nintendo put money into buying gyroscopes, for what though they haven't said.

Very interesting read there los. I could deffinentally see something like this being used in the future (near future...I don't think so). It would do wonders for games that aren't that live action. Some strategy games such as Myst, being able to move the board in Monkey Ball with your mind, or even shooting spaceships in Starfox. I know that they have created a special helmit for handicaped children who aren't able to use their finders to use a laser pointer as a mouse on the screen. If they combined the motion detector laser pointer and the brainwave technology, the possibility of games could be endless.

Ah yes, gyroscope technology. The first taste Nintendo got of something simular to it was in the game Kirby's Tilt n' Tumble for the GBC. Now with this technology we can't simply rely on the aid of our thumbs and index fingers to win the battle, we must also rely on our wrists.

True. But look at what systems Nintendo is going to create in the future: the Revolution and the Gameboy Evolution. Most of our money is on the Revolution at this moment.

It could happen, but if it does, just beg Nintendo it's nothing like the Virtual Boy. *shudders at the thought of VB*

that would be amazing! but we can only dream, and then someday in the future it might come true! who knows!...but i agree that in about 20 years, we could be seeing some new technology to get us more into the game with some form of virtual reality. when it comes its comes its going to be great. lets just hope nintendo can do it before sony

Re: stupid concept-if we live long enough may happen

I love the idea.....I actualy dream of this for a while.

I think you need only a wide space for your movements to play a virtual reality....and this is not an impossible thing to do. They are developing some virtual reality things. One day there will be virtual reality games....and that is going to happen more quick than we know it (in my opinion)!

For the sword we didn't need a real sword to play, only in the game of course. If a person watched you playing outside, he would only see you grabbing air!

You could do some preformances with sword, bow, dagger and shield. About the sword techniques: Like there is that guy in Clock town or Orca that theaches you to manage a sword, there will be that on the game. The difference is that you would manage a virtual sword with your own hands (wouldn't that be GREAT!)!
Just be careful with jars and other precious values in your house....lol!

This games are brain-exercicing. With this they would also be fisical-exercicing and that would be more beneficiant.

For the peoples outside, they could see the game on the TV and maybe we could listen to their suggestions (still I don't know how they could do it!).

But, just a correction of virtual reality games. There is not just a need of a helmet, but also gloves for the movements!

That just gave me a great idea. Like the article said (the one that los showed), scientists are trying to get closer and closer to the science fiction we see in movies such as "Jacking In" in the movie The Matrix where the brain is directly linked to the matrix mainframe. My idea is having a multiplayer game of The Matrix. One person would be in the virtual reality helmit and gloves (that would be the main character), another would be the Operator who will have to decipher codes and giving comands (by using the keyboard and the TV screen) to help the Main Character (telling them where to go to jack out, giving them new clothes, armory, skills,etc...). That would be the essential stuff. Now if you wanted more players, it could get deeper into the game.

(In Mario Kart: Double Dash you could have boughten a thing where you could connect two Gamecubes to two TVs and play simultaniously. That's something that could be used in my Matrix idea...read on below)

The third player would be piloting the ship via TV screen, and the fourth player could man the armory of the ship to destroy attacking sentinels (via another virtual reality suite). Every job is dependant on the next (especially the Main character). If the ship crashes because of the pilot, the mission has failed. If the ship recieves too much damage from on coming sentinels because of the Shooter, the mission has failed (because you're all dead duh). If the Operator doesn't give the Main Character what he/she needs to succeed the mission, the mission will most likely fail. If the Main Character dies while in the Matrix, the mission has failed. Every job is as important as the next one. I think my idea (though a little confusing) would rock!).
