Four Sword DS Concept

I have seen ideas on this board about ideas for a four sword Zelda, and have grown to like the idea of what 4 swords on it could mean, and would like a thread of my own to express my ideas.

So, here goes.

Start- Pause. lets others know you are paused via a small icon on the top corner of the top screen.
Select- uses potion. each person can hold 1 potion, various types. includes auto heal if you die, increase attack, increase speed. are bought from old women merchants that travel the maps.
A- Item
B- Sword
Y- Item
X- Action (Lift, Pull. Talk)
L- Shows comrades locations and actions
R- Roll/dodge. use this in combination with B for sword combos. could involv BRB, hold R, B, BBhold R etc.


My concept is this. on the DS, the top screen contains your characters location and what is happening for them. the bottom screen contains 4 items, as well as rupee and key counts. the point of having only 4 items is that u need to share them among you. each person by the end has 4 different items each. they can be used together for different effects. eg. using the deku leaf on someone that is using the roc's cape would amke them go further. You assign iems to places by pressing the right icon on the sreen, then the item you want there, or vice-versa. you can also swap items with others by the same method. there are map and status icons in the bottom corners. While L is held, three arrows will surrond your character on the top screen, showing you your partner's locations, and on the bottom, will show their health and what they are currently doing.

My apoligies if the images take a while to load, i tried to make them as low quality as possible without making them to bad to see.

So yeah, thats it. give me your feedback and other ideas you may have so we may have some discussion. i found the images of the items from ZU, the DS pic from ign.com, and the screenshot of FS from some site, cant remember, its an old one.

Some good ideas but I would get rid of the little "status" thing and find more ways to use the touch screen. The arrows look a bit unnatural when locating other players but that can easily be fixed. I think you should get rid of some of the things on the bottom screen and use it for a bit of picto-chat like thing. While playing you can write messages to each other to communicate so you can tell each other what to do. There could be puzzles that involves communicating such as having two people far apart. One person would have to tell what's going on such as what color they are seeing a stone change to. There would be a little button at the bottom, when you press it the text screen comes up, press it again and it goes down. When someone tells you something the button would flash and you would here the discovery tune. It would keep on flashing until you check it.

Mabye the L button should do something else, and all you have to do is tap a picture of the player to see them.
Wait a second, there is no SWORD and SHEILD!

Here's how I think the touch screen could work. It should have the entire map of place in which your players are. Because they're small on the map a head like in the Minish Cap will appear over them. You can see the colour. You touch the head you want to see. It zooms into that player's screen, you can then use a PM function and send it that player, or you could beacon them, I might have a screen of it soon.

You could also get an item that allows you to teleport to where they are if they are a certain distance away from you. If their too close, you have to suck it up and walk to them and if they are quite a ways away from you you can teleport.

Yeah, i like the idea of the text message function. and dont take the look of the arrows and such too literally, its just there for an idea of what it would be. as far as the chat goes, i think the status window can be removed, and if you want to see the quest status, simply press pause, and the chat icon can be in its place. press it to bring up the window.

Ilike the idea of being able to interact with friends on the map, but having little minich cap-like heads i think would clog the screen, maybe when the map is up, you can place waypoints on it of your colour. these would help in situations like this. "hey ive found a crack in the wall but i havent got the bombs" "hey, ive got them" "cool, i'll place a waypoint on the map so that you know where to go for it". or something like that. but i think each person should only be able to have 1 waypoint at a time. saves resourses.

also, ive put room on the screen for using potions. This allows for 2 potions. bottles could be bought or found in various areas? just press it on the screen to use it. which leaves select free, but im unsure what for. any suggestions?



I have also created the map screen. what is here in the pic is just one room (sory for looking so bad). if you want to see the entire dungeon map, albeit less detail, hit full. you also collect various other maps in the dungeons, of the dungeons. these are shown on the left hand side. they include treasure chest locations, treasure horde locations (secret rooms with tns of cool collectibles and rupees), the actual walls and terrain of the dungeon(standard map) and anything else you may think of, let me know. there are 4 per dungeon, but you can only carry 2 each, so a lucky person may find 2 good ones, and not tell anyone else where treasure is. it also shows when the compass and boss key are collected. these items are automatically given to all members once they are collected. the compass merely allows you to see your persons dot on the map.
