New game placement on the timeline

Which end of the timeline would you want a new game to appear on the defeated, child, or adult timeline?

I would want them to make a game on the child or defeated timeline.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I'd say at the end of the child , or courage timeline. Appearently, after Ganondorf's death in TP, he was reborn in FSA. But he wasn't killed in FSA, he was just sealed... again. But that's why I want it to take place in that timeline, because Ganon is still alive, and Link should finish him off. Although, I think it would be cool if Ganon wasn't the main villian in that game. In several games, there have been two villians, with ganon being the main villian, so why not the other way around?

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I'd like to see a new game on any branch of the timeline, but utilizing the grittier, more life-like graphics of TP and OOT (as opposed to the cartooned WW). It would be amazing to have a game set in New Hyrule after Spirit Tracks on the Adult Timeline, featuring locomotives and other newer technological innovations with an air of realism.

On the Defeated Timeline, a game set during the Gold Era would be cool, though I suppose it would be difficult to come up with a plot seeing as that era supposedly didn't have any villains to shake things up.

I'd also like to see a game set during the Unification War that brought infant Link and his mother to Kokiri Forest. Perhaps we could learn of a little-known reincarnation of Link, "The Forgotten Hero," who plays a pivotal yet unseen role in the midst of the civil strife. Meanwhile, such a game would be a great chance to bring back beloved races like the Kokiri, Gerudo, and Sheikah in full post-polygon graphical glory. We could see Kakariko as it once stood as a village of Sheikah (bringing more Sheikah to a game than the various Impas, Sheik, and Impaz).

I would love a game with the Sheikah in it. They are the most mysterious race and my favorite.

You like Sheikah? Get out of here. But yeah, perhaps a game set in New Hyrule would be good. It opens up all kinds of new gameplay mechanics with steampower and whatnot.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

Before the split and before oot. Set in The time of the Hyrulian civil war. Involving the Interlopers, Sheikhah and fierce deity.
What i'd love to see is the oot Forest Temple before it was overgrown in oot. Like some sort of Sheikhah/Interloper hideout. tbh i think that's where the next wii u title is headed

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I'm gonna go ahead and agree that some form of OoT prequel would be pretty awesome. More zoras, sheikah, and gerudo (and possibly kokiri) would not be a problem for me. Although, the Child Timeline doesn't have quite as many games on it as either of the other two. It may be due for some love.

I'm also thinking Skyward Sword would be a good candidate for a sequel, if only to tie up some loose ends (what happened to the mogmas, where the dragons are, whether Groose is the proto-gerudo, etc.) and go into the founding of Hyrule, which has clearly taken place by the time TMC happens.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I would say the child timeline. Maybe a sequel to Twilight Princess. Though a prequel to Ocarina of Time would be very nice. I'd like to meet some Sheikah.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

Honestly I do not really have any strong opinion on exactly which timeline they use. As long as they just stop going further and further back in time with each sequel. I keep thinking that they can only do so much and paint themselves into a corner with the storyline. I would like to see what can occur after Ganondorf for a change.

I would like to see a little more of the post LoZ/AoL world that Nintendo has neglected for a couple decades now. I'm sure that there are a few villains around Hyrule that would love to get their hands on the triforce now that it is within Hyrule Castle for the claiming.

I completely agree with you here. Miyamoto has said similar thing in the past, which is also why they avoid saying that things like SS is the 'earliest' because if they decide to add something later, they have a tough time.

I think this would be a GREAT idea. I know it's sort of obvious, but it could be a blend of Tower Defense and Zelda with Link traveling around Hyrule to get magic, items, etc. to continually strengthen the castle against enemy onslaught. To even tie things back together, we could even learn that the "Silent Realm" was an earlier attempt to seal away the Triforce against similar opposition. This could, inevitably, help explain why the branch of the timeline where they leave Hyrule advances and the others do not, there is too much fighting for true technological achievements to take place, but leaving such a dangerous land that is under constant duress has allowed/forced it's former residents to advance. (I know that last bit is conjecture, but it would really go a long way in explaining why some timelines have advanced in tech and others are deathly stagnant)

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I think I say this on every future Zelda thread but personally I'd love to see a sequel to OoT/MM 7 years in the future when Young Link is Adult/Teenage Link without cheating by nipping the Master Sword out. But in all likelyhood the next game will take place in the Decline Era because Nintendo haven't released a game in that timeline for years and a lot of people want to see how the Hero declined. They also won't have to worry about the various potential continuity errors that would occur in the Child/Adult eras.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I'd like to see handhelds made for the Adult Timeline, set in New Hyrule with cell shaded graphics. The console games should be made for the Child Timeline, and the Alternate Child Timeline (or whatever it's called) should be left untouched.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

I'd love to see a game somewhere after SS, but before MC; one that deals with the establishment of Hyrule or something resembling Hyrule. The 'key' races could be introduced/given background stories on why they choose their way of life. The villain could be separate from Demise's curse, so that the villain would have their own merits and could be 'totally' defeated. It just seems like they would have the most liberties with the plot with either a game somewhere between SS and MC or one that takes place after ST/FSA. Personally, I'd prefer a *true* origin story.

The DC should be left alone, I'd prefer anything post-ST on the Wii U, and the CT might be interesting to visit (If it was a new villain; I don't care if it's one of Demise's incarnations as long as it isn't Ganon(dorf)) on the 3DS.

Re: New game placement on the timeline

Personally, I'd like to see a title on the "Hero is Defeated" timeline explaining the Sealing War that occurs before A Link to the Past. Not only would that provide an interesting story but also a scope which the series has never experienced.
