Unused Buttons

There are moments in Skyward Sword when some buttons on the controller don't do anything, which I personally think is a waste. The one that comes to mind is the bird flying, where the control stick and the left, up and right d-pad buttons were left out of the control scheme. Not sure what they would've used them for, but i'm sure they could've thought of something cool. I dunno if there are any other points in the game like this, or if other Zelda games have this issue as well, if you would even consider this an 'issue'.

I just think that having a button do 'something' regardless of the context just enriches the gameplay, for me anyway.

So what do you reckon? Do you think Zelda games in future will have buttons that are unused at certain points in the game?

Re: Unused Buttons

The only problem I see when it comes to "more buttons used" is confusion. And also handling it.

But I think adding more buttons to the controls of Link's Loftwing and Link's swimming in SS would have been better than just waving your Wii remote everywhere.

Re: Unused Buttons

Simple.
SS seemed to follow the "Motion control for everything" idea.
So with that in hand there wouldn't me much need for many buttons used.
But being a traditional Button masher type gamer i would agree that i would i would of liked to see more buttons mapped out on the wii remote. The only thing I like with Motion control was the Swordplay (To some extent) and the bow and arrow.

Re: Unused Buttons

I think the unused dpad buttons could have been used for basic camera control like in Super Mario Galaxy.
