Re: Miyamoto addresses possibility of a new A Link to the Past 3D successor game
I think this is an interesting and fresh approach to the franchise. Never before has a 2D installment been reimagined in 3D or the other way around. I don't really believe his comments are aiming towards a successor but rather a 3D Zelda game for the 3DS which is heavily inspired (90%) by ALttP with some added modern features. My only desire is that Nintendo preserves the excellent control scheme introduced in OoT 3D.

Miyamoto is clearly recognizing that the way Zelda is going isn't working out, both in sales and fan reception, so any change, even if that change is essentially reverting back to a previous gameplay style, is an improvement in my eyes. If they use this as an opportunity to go back to the basics, see what it was that made Zelda so popular in the first place, and then build off of that without butchering the core aspects like the recent games have been doing, then it may be a rebirth of the franchise.
They need to do something to climb out of this hole.
Honestly, even if the game was a "'succesor'...in the same veins of AlttP", we would still have to question of the gameplay and the content. This new 3DS game may look and may play like ALttP, but the game also may be some linear cake-walk that everyone is afraid Aonuma might turn the series into.

I would really love if Miyamoto made an "spiritual sequel" to ALttP, and I know I'm not the only one.
It's one of the best games ever made!
Please, Miyamoto, make it happen!
