Well, I don't mean the ending being like, "...and then everybody died," I mean it would be cool for some sacrifice.

Kinda like " I beat ganon, but the people he's killed including my grandma/sister/what have you isn't going to come back"?

I think the main problem with immaturity in Zelda is the way the Gorons and Zoras tolerate each other in OOT. Less than ten years ago they started a civil war that killed many people, including Link's mother, but are now A-OK with each other. It doesn't even spark problems when you wear a Zora mask on death mountain, or a Goron mask in Zora's Domain.
I mean, there is still tension about the American civil war today, many generations after Lincoln's assassination, and yet these two races have forgotten a war that happened ten (fewer?) years ago.

Sorry to rant, but this has always struck me as an annoying attempt at child-friendliness.

Pinkie Pie doesn't recall either the Gorons or Zora being the combatants in the civil war.

Really? I could have sworn they were...

Hmmmm....

Either way, like I said, there seems to be no tensions at all during this point in time. Even if it was between a different group of people, peace doesn't completely settle in ten (fewer?) years. The way Hyrule is totally idyllic (temporarily) in OOT has always been a real bugbear of mine.

There's a pretty big chance he's wrong, as EL lives there.

Re: A Mature Zelda Title

It's cool

I definitely find Zelda not as mature as I think it could be.... I would love to see a very violent, but clean game. I want to see Link stab through some people, but for it to not be too mortifying.

Calypso is right (and yes I am an Australian citizen). TP is an M rated game here. I have both the Wii and NGC version as proof and you can't buy the game in some stores unless you provide a legal document of your age (strict laws here when it comes to video games).

I'm surprised that the rating for the game is lower when I went to the United States a few months ago.

To add to that, Skyward Sword is an M rated game in Australia as well.

Geez... what's it take for a game to be rated M in Australia?

Wow, really? What features constitute to an M-Rated game there? Here in the UK, we don't have letter ratings, we have age ratings. (3, 7, 12, 15/16, 18.) Sexual references, drugs and discrimination make a 15/16/18 depending on the company, but both SS & TP are rated 12.

Any forms of violence in the game (even something minor) can take the rating of the game so far up.

Because Link wields a sword and can kill, that is enough for the ESRB classification system in Australia to slap an "M" on TP and SS. For us, it is considered "mature" for younger ages as it contains material that may require a mature perspective but is not deemed too strong for younger viewers.

This is what we have here:

TP and SS (which are both M here) are for ages 15 and over.

Some MA15+ games here are banned, and R18+ games are banned all throughout Australia.

Re: A Mature Zelda Title

So if I'm reading that rating guideline right, you only need to be ~13 to fall into the mature category in Australia?

I'm pretty sure Call of Duty is out here, but I don't know about Fallout.
