I think the main problem with immaturity in Zelda is the way the Gorons and Zoras tolerate each other in
OOT. Less than ten years ago they started a civil war that killed many people, including Link's mother, but are now A-OK with each other. It doesn't even spark problems when you wear a Zora mask on death mountain, or a Goron mask in Zora's Domain.
I mean, there is still tension about the American civil war today, many generations after Lincoln's assassination, and yet these two races have forgotten a war that happened ten (fewer?) years ago.
Sorry to rant, but this has always struck me as an annoying attempt at child-friendliness.
