Play as Ganondorf

Would you like it if a Zelda game came out and you were Ganondrof? You would be trying to destroy Link obviously, and maybe you had to try ultimitly to get the Triforce. I think there was a Sonic game that did this once, but would you like it in the Zelda series?

Yeah, playing as Ganondorf takes away the nostalgia you feel as you play a Zelda game, it just wouldn't be a Zelda game without a young boy in a green tunic kicking Ganon's arse.

No, it's not just that. I just think the idea of Ganon going through dungeons and beating large bosses is just stupid.

anyway, I'm sure linkofspades meant that playing as ganondorf would be a very hidden unlockable

like, if you put grdokngofdrkns (gerudo king of darkness) or something like that as your name, you could play as the evil king himself

seems like an interesting idea, but....I dunno

Just seems like it might take away from the true zelda experience

There would be no challenge, even if Nintendo made it hard. We all know Ganon is 20x powerful than link. It would be no fun to watch the big guy kill the little guy. With a big sword.

It's fun to watch the little guy beat the big guys arse! Especially when you are controlling him! w00t.

I think the point is clear... No playing ganon, and i totally agree... It would just be to dumb...And i think that thats all there is to say... This thread is no use anymore... I think it should be locked, but unfortunatly i'm not in control of those things...

Well, I wouldn't mind, to be honest, but I would want Link and Zelda to be playable then, as well. Somehow there could be some... evil that the Triforce unleashed that the three have to battle? I think it could work, but it may be hard.
Oh, and Sonic Adventure 2 was great, in my opinion.

If they ever did that, it would be impossible to enjoy. Ganon is too powerful. Ganon is too conspicuous. Ganon looks like a freakin' demon.

And the credits would consist of some kid in a green shirt blowing you to kingdom come! Not to mention the continuity problems!

Maybe if there is a game that has you play as young Ganondorf as he takes on the role of being the Gerudo King of Thieves, the idea could be acceptable. But as Tigerboi and others said, going on an adventure as big, tall, evil Ganon(dorf) wouldn't be that great. And I personally do not want Link, Zelda and Ganondorf teaming up to fight...evil? Just put them on a team in SSBM for crying out loud.

problem with this idea is that ganon is like really powerful, wot enemies would he face because he commands the moblins and skulltallas and such. plus, what quest qould you go on. all i have seen ganon do is huint for the holder of the triforce, and step in once link does the dirty work

It sounds cool, I am not gonna shoot the idea down of anything. It could work it if it played during his uprising. Like, it starts off when he is born into the care of Koume and Kotake, (Young Ganon, Adult Ganon!) and dungeons where he attempts to take the spiritual stones, and I dunno....maybe where he takes over the temples? Ehh.....maybe not so much of a good idea >_>

ooh! just thought of a good idea. anyone that has played halo 2 or paper mario 2 can relate.

after each dungeon is completed (or just periodical moments in the story) it cuts to a meanwhile segment, showing a parallel storu involving ganon. i think ganon is too big of a character with not enough of a purpose to warrant gameplay, but if you played as one of ganon's generals, and each cut section where ytou play as said general, you uncover more and more of a plot. say you have to start off by tracking down link, but then you stalk ganon because the reasons behind his methods and plans become more and more vague and questionable, and ganondorf gets more stressed and tense due to something you find out in the end (major twists arent my forte).

so yeah, in key moments, you switch to controlling this general that uncovers secrets.

Why? Wouldn't it degrade him. I don't imagine he'd be quite so demonic if you controlled his every movement. What exactly could he do? No dungeons. Or item finding. All that's necessary is the clicking of his extremely powerful fingers.... And this just seems like a novelty idea.

How about a Command and Conquer-style game? You could control Ganon's armies, consisting of Stalfos, Darknuts, Moblins, and so on, or Zelda's armies, with Gorons, Hylians, all those guys! Then you could play as Ganon, and it would still be fun!

an online zelda in this format could work, but as many have stated in the forums, these ideas just are not zelda

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Zelda is all about one hero and that's Link(well okay more Links but you get the point). You shouldn't mess a game up by making the enemy a playable character and it wouldn't work because you'd immediatly end the series as Ganon has Hyrule and every one would be doomed. Go play Fable or something if you want to reck the world.

Um.... let me put it this way..... God forbid. Why would you want to play someone you spent the last few games that Ganondorf was in hating?
