Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

I've been thinking about the Zelda timeline, and it always seems like they release a prequel era when a new generation game comes out.

like ALTTP was before LOZ/AOL, OOT before ALTTP, SS before OOT

what could a true sequel to them all be like?

Ain't I a genius?
or.... Link will find a 4th piece to the Triforce to make a perfect triangle! you can fit another piece in the middle. they could call it the Trueforce

These are cool ideas. I'd say they should make Zelda III for 3DS, and have it be overhead view like the original. I'd play it.

I think they should continue the proud tradition of Zelda II and not give a crap about what came before.
Zelda "Metroidvania," anyone?

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

Maybe it's Skyward Sword.

Think about it. There was an old civilization that already had the triforce in its iconography. The sword sleeps at the end of LttP, but another one is forged (goddess sword becomes Master Sword). Rinse and repeat. Hyrule gets flooded, new Hyrule formed, gets flooded New Hyrule formed...

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

Collect the 9 pieces of the triforce.
Each piece is split into three.(courage, wisdom, and power)

I'm tired of these half way points in Zelda.
This game can be divided into three parts instead.

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

All I know is that I want either worlds remade in 3D, brought back with all the seemingly forgotten gameplay elements. Leveling up, emphasis on more original spells and magic, being able to go the "wrong way" in a dungeon and either having to blast away a wall or buy another key(or, alternatively, find a very well hidden master key). I feel those kinds of things would help towards improving certain aspects of the more recent games.

We need Zelda 3 to be like Zelda 2.

OP, the answer is a resounding no. Nintendo knows what we want, but refuses to give it to us. Instead they try to tell us what we like and wind up with peices of ♥♥♥♥ like Spirit Tracks.

i'd hate to see what nintendo would do to modernise the first game. i1 is that it's set in a completely hostile, dangerous and lonely world - where anything that isn't trying to kill you is trying to confuse you. whether any of this was intentional or not doesn't matter. what zelda 1 did sets it a world apart from modern zelda games with their tutorials and unnecessary cutscenes.

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

Zelda III: Legacy

The big bad is actually from the Adult Timeline, spawning just after Ganon's defeat in OoT. He has the power to go back in time, and uses it to kill the Hero of Time, thus creating the Failure Timeline. He then puts himself to sleep in order to witness what will become of the world under Ganon's control of the Triforce. He eventually awakens much later, to wreak havoc in the time after Zelda II.

It is up to Link to fight off this mysterious foe, while uncovering the secret to a great power left by the long forgotten Hero of Time before he died.

(As it is Zelda III, it would feature the same Link from I and II.)

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

Well since The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II are at the end of the DT, I can see them making a game to continue that timeline. I'm sure they won't just abandon the 3rd split all together. I think a Zelda III would be fitting to continue the Zelda I and II legacy.

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

I personally would just like to see an extension of that timeline in general, but if it was contiously after LoZ: Adventure of Link, that'd be very interesting. I know it was due to the limitations and the youth of the franchise but the Hyrule of Zelda I and II is very different in comparison to other games. Actually I think all renditions of Hyrule from the Timeline very much have their own aesthetic.

But, yes I'd love that. I would personally appreciate it most if Nintendo attempted to make it very, VERY authentic to the original NES games, as if it were "THE UNRELEASED ZELDA SEQUEL FROM THE PAST". I know that.. Wouldn't happen, if they were to make a Zelda III, but I'd like that. Similar graphical style with slightly upgraded textures (so, not entirely 8-bit).

However I also really like what Nintendo do with their 3D classics, maintaining the original basis or format of the game and adding modern nuances, especially with Kid Icarus in which they added scenery for the background. If they were to make a Zelda III, I think a 3D-Classic-type-thing would be appropriate.

Though oddly, a few days ago I was planning my own Zelda III, I was thinking of hopefully finding some semi-expierianced coders to help develop the game.. Still structuring the plot and stuff, I don't think the plot would really appeal to most because it diverts from the standard "Good-willed hero of hyrule must vanquish the evil once more".. Which I know some LoZ fans can be iffy about. But yeah, it'd be just like a sequel to the NES games, similar graphical style with slight modern adjustments or nuances to enhance a moment in the game.

If anyones interested in hearing the plot or helping me develop it then PM Me or what-not. Still in early stages, done some concept art fashioned to resemble the same art featured in the manuels for the NES games. Pretty proud of that!

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

For those of you who don't know Zelda 1 takes place in the land south of Death Mt. And Zelda 2 takes place everywhere north of Death Mountain..

Whenever this Sequel arrives One thing they mustn't bring back is Ganon...keep the pace of story Zelda 2 had.Maybe Old Hyrule(from Zelda 1) is being resettled and the Zeldas from Loz and all work together to uncover the true reason Ganon attacked the Kingdom of Hyrule in the first place...Perhaps something of much greater importance was hidden in the land of Old and that's why when we travel through the land there's nothing but barren wastelands as the countryside has been overrun by monsters.....
Returning back to the Hidden treasure/weapon in Hyrule from (Loz)
a mysterious figure appears similar in stature to the Two Zelda's(We later discover She's also Zelda from another time)and her sole mission is to Revive a great evil(Plot twist) now she never reveals herself to Link or the other two princesses for the matter

a year after the events at the Great Palace land has been reclaimed to the south of Death Mountain and the denizens of North Hyrule settle in parts that they historically had settled ages before Ganon's attack...The south of that Part of the Kingdom is still overrun by Divisions of monsters(every group works alone until they find a common cause which is working with this Female who claims to be a Princess of the Royal Family)

Link's Quest starts out by him placing three Replicas of the Triforce in three palaces known as triforce medallions after this has been fulfilled Link will visit 9 Dungeons and A final Dungeon where he will face Zelda(who's true identity and true purpose will be revealed) at the end of the end game The other half of South Hyrule is taken back and the kingdom of Hyrule is twice its former size....
after you beat the game there should 2 more quests giving us a total of 3 quests..
Items are rearranged, dungeon layouts will be altered,Enemies will receive upgrsdes and some weapons receive new uses...

as for zelda III should be a mixture of Overhead and side scrolling action...unlike zelda 2's overworld this overworld will be a dynamic hub where bombs, potions and everything can be used and the other portion of the adventure will be experienced via Side Scrolling(Bridge crossing and ledge climbing scenes and cool Darknut battles)

Overworld could be the main interface but you could switch with sides rolling...With each mode some things can be done and others will be cancelled out...
eg.Sidescrolling gives the Sword thrusts,Magic abilities and the Overworld mode gives Bombs, flute, potions etc...

The Legend Of Zeldaride of Ganon/Chosen of the Triforce or Children of the Triforce!!!

Re: Will there ever be a sequel to the NES era in Zelda?

I think that they should make more games like Zelda II after that and call them "Paper Legend of Zelda". I think Zelda II gameplay would fit well with the "Paper" aesthetic style found in the Paper Mario series.

"Nintendo hates us! They never give us what we want! They are evil and all they want to do is hurt us! Stop forcing me to buy games I don't want!" it never ceases to crack me up when people come out with stuff like that. It's quite funny when people mistake their own opinions for what everyone thinks as well.

Anyway, enough merriment. A sequel to the NES era Zelda? I can't really see how they could expand on the limited stories of the first two games, but a game with gameplay harking back to the first two games (a 'spiritual sequel' if you like) would be interesting. As a 'big release' Zelda game it won't happen, but as a Wii U/3DS eShop game it could work. But of course it won't happen because the nasty evil Nintendo will just bring out pieces of ♥♥♥♥ like ST that are so bad all the reviewers score it a mere 9/10 .

they also gave SS a perfect 10, when it is clearly a 9.5
