Zelda Characters in Future Smash Bros

Hey guys. This could've went on the Theorizing board, but I thought it was a better fit here. Now, onto the future of Zelda characters in the new Smash Bros that will be released on the Wii U and 3DS (confirmed). We're not counting the N64 game here because it was basic, only 1-2 characters per series. But in Melee and Brawl, we get Zelda, Ganon, and a Link from the Adult Timeline, and a Link from the Child Timeline. However, Word of God is that Skyward Sword will occur before the split. So we either get only 1 Link (maybe him, Zelda and Ganon will symbolize the Triforce?) or a different fourth character will be added, like...Tingle!

TL;DR: There will only be 1 Link in the next Super Smash Bros game.

It's definitely possible, unless they feel like keeping Toon Link alive. It WOULD open up one more space for another Zelda character though... perhaps Debbie?

Edit: Oh, and Toon Link happens to be my main. XD As much as I love him and his cloniness, I would appreciate a new character, or at the least a reconstruction of his moves so he's more like a Luigi or Ganondorf to a Mario or Captain Falcon.

There's no sense in having two Links when they're just clones, anyways.

I don't think that the Zelda characters are from one specific Zelda game (in Brawl at least). There's a lot of contradictions pointing to that, such as Zelda being able to transform into Sheik and Link having Navi with him in the story mode, despite the both of them being styled after how they looked in TP. They could just be updated (at the time) versions of themselves from OOT that were in Melee and N64 (in Links case).

But that doesn't explain Toon Link, so yeah, I don't see why not. Though they're probably going to keep both Links. They might just exchange the TP style for SS but keep the characteristics from OOT/Melee again... we can only guess at this point. When did Smash Bros ever make sense? xD

I completely agree; Toon Link is one of my favorite characters to Brawl as and I would love to see him in 3D. But I can't imagine him AND cel-shaded SS Link in the same game. Oh well.

Good point, and Smash Bros made sense when they added a stage based on Electroplankton, of all things.

I hope they'll keep Toon Link in it, if only because Spirit Tracks is one of my favorite zelda games.

As for anyone else, i'm hoping they replace Ganon with Debbie (i honestly don't get WHY people call him Debbie, but i might as well go along with the majority, right?) It'll be fun stopping attacks with just 2 fingers

If Debbie is in it, he'll definitely be my main. Simply too fabulous to pass up.

What about a Majoras Mask style kid link that has mask transformations. The final smash move could be transforming into fierce deity link.

Majora's Wrath (MM) (would really love to see this)
Zant (TP)
(possibly Midna?)
^this would cover a variety of the last 4 Zelda games (for N64 and Gamecube).

I'd personally love for a "Toon Zelda" who could transform into Tetra; the Zelda, using her magic, while Tetra used weapons & items in the nature of Link (bombs, throwing knives, some sort of rope attack). I could see Majora's Wrath character being pretty sick when applied to SSB's fighting format.

I have wanted this ever since the let-down that was Young Link in Melee.

I hope that they keep Ganondorf (Twilight Princess) and add his Wind Waker design.

I think Zelda deserves to have like...8 characters.

Midna, Skullkid, Masked Link, Adult Link, Zelda/Sheik, Ganondorf, Debbie and Toonage.

Here's my desired roster:

Link (Skyward Sword)
Zelda (Skyward Sword)
Toon Zelda/Tetra
Debbie
Toon Ganondorf (Final Smash: a powerful OHKO ♥♥♥♥♥slap that only works on Zelda)

I'd rather Link, Zelda, and Ganon be composite forms instead of hailing from specific series entries.
Maybe some alternate costumes that are more specific to a game, like what Wario's got, but the most recent iterations are never really representative of how we feel about them and you piss off fans if you play favorites beyond that.

And if Debbie's a one-shot, is that really Smash worthy in the first place? Seems like a recipe for a roster cut in the next Smash Bros down the line and we all know how awesome it is to lose non-clones.

Man...Sheik stayed.

It'd make more sense for Link to have a bunch of different skins/models that made him look like OoT/TP/SS Link and maybe another one for kiddy Link? And end clones once and for all maybe?

New characters would be cool, they could put in Debbie or maybe the happy mask salesman or skullkid

Yeah that'd be really cool if you could switch between all 4 forms, kinda like how Zelda in Brawl turns into Sheik.

Maybe in addition to transforming into FDL as the Final Smash he could also put on the Giant's Mask and crush the hell out of everybody. And it could be random. Like sometimes you'll get the FD mask and sometimes you'll get the Giant's Mask.

On another note, how about Skull Kid with the Majora's Mask? Maybe he could shoot darts and people and stuff. And his Final Smash could be something like the Mask coming off of his face and turning into Majora's Wrath or something.

I think I'm expecting the Wii U to get Link and the 3DS to get Toon Link.

I seems like a great choice, and it would help making it not feel like there's "too much Link", even if they're clones.

Want to pit them against each other? Connect your 3DS to the Wii U, BAM your roster is now enhanced, it should obviously happen with other characters from other franchises too.
