cel shaded or not

I didn't pay much attention to this forum thread. But have they decided if they are making it cel shaded or not. If it isnt decided then i guess ill make a new poll. But i hope it would be not cel shaded. I think we can picture what a grown up link would look like in cel shaded. The reason i want it to be uhh not cel-shaded becuase i wanna see Zelda to its full potential. Sure it wouldn't have as many expressions but i think it would be cooler to see enemies more detailed.

if this is already known if it will be cel shaded or not then just delete the thread.

Re: cel shaded or not

I believe firmly that a young Link is what the Zelda series is about, and I think that in Wind Waker it has been proven that cel shading is the best method to display this young Link.

Re: cel shaded or not

The next Zelda game for Gamecube will use the same engine as TWW, so yes, it probably will be cel-shaded. I prefer cel-shading myself.

Yes, cel-shading will be used for the next Zelda. Even though I prefered the cel-shading anyways.

Re: cel shaded or not

The next Zelda game for GC is going to be a sequel to The Wind Waker, and yes it will use the same graphics style.

I hear that!

I chose cel-shading, simply because it'd be weird to switch graphics styles before switching systems. They should save realism for when they know they can do it right, which I think is still a while from now. I think cel-shading will do...for now.

Re: cel shaded or not

I love the cel-shading... fits the Zelda Universe perfectly A very immersive type of graphical style. I always thought LttP would look like that if made in 3D.

Re: cel shaded or not

I like both cel-shading and realistic graphics, but I prefer realistic to cel-shading. I would love the see a Zelda game with the realistic graphical capabilities seen in "Resident Evil 0". Now that would be an awesome game!

Re: cel shaded or not

I like the cel-shading, it makes the people look funnier than could ever be done with the realistic style, plus it gives a light-hearted feeling to the entire game.

New Zelda fans breed.

I think it won't hurt to have another Celda, we've seen what they can offer, do, exploit, enhace, etc. After Wind Waker, I think that changing styles is good. So after WW2, I think they should change style again.

Re: cel shaded or not

When I saw you type WW2, I couldn't help but think World War 2 before anything else.
Well, that won't be a problem once they get a title for the sequel...

It's hard to tell just what captures the Zelda feel, since Zelda has become so complex that it has more than one "feel." I think that realism can do great justice to one Zelda "feel," but as of now, they'd probably screw it up and it wouldn't seem quite real. Some day, however, realism will be the way to go. But for now, cel-shading can be done right as The Wind Waker proved(a less paint-like sea and a bit of voice acting is all it needs IMO) and until we know realism can be done right, cel-shading is the way to go.

Re: cel shaded or not

Cel shading all the way!!! it gives life to the characters that realism could never give. Anyone that thinks that a game sucks because of its graphical style is missing out on a lot of good games cuz they are so focused on something they dont like that they dont want to take the time to see all the good in it. If you played WW then you would know that game would be weird as hell if it was Realistic. Could you imagine seeing Link get shot out of a cannon in realistic graphics? it wouldnt be funny it would look stupid! WW is one of the best Zelda games made to date and It would not have been made if it wasnt for the Cel Shading. We would have a completely different game if it was realistic and it probably wouldnt even follow the same storyline in the least. In fact, it would probably be another installment in the OoT series. And I am sick of everyone complaining about how link is a kid and how everyone wants him to be an adult. It is not happening and probably wont happen again for a long time if ever. although I would enjoy seeing link as a 15 or 16 year old like in Lttp, LoZ, and LA. ----- Anyway what im trying to say is you should like a game for its storyline and its gameplay more than anything, otherwise you are just being childish. Everyone has there preferences and those of you who like realism will probably see another Zelda game with that kind of graphical style eventually. Until then SHUT UP!!!

P.S. I do like OoT and it is my third favorite game in the series and probably my third favorite of all time too.

Re: cel shaded or not

Thwy are giving it a celshading but I don't think it's a sequal.. its more like a minigame, you also need a GBA-GC hook up and a GBA. I find this dissapointing... It will not stand in my Zelda collection.. I bet its gonna fall like the Cd-I games....

Re: cel shaded or not

I think the storyline could be the same...and Ganondorf's fate at the end seemed pretty weird with the cel-shading.
The game could've happened, there just would've been certain things different(was the cannon-shooting really an important element?). And I can't imagine that they'd keep the same Link over two systems, that seems kinda weird.
Cel-shading, I must say, didn't affect all the other elements of the game so much as you seem to think it did.

Re: cel shaded or not

I just wanted to see what link would look like all cool and realistic and stuff. Plus i think ganondorf doesnt look as cool as in Ocarina of time. So more realistic i stay and stand by.

Re: cel shaded or not

I actually liked Ganondorf more in The Wind Waker; not because of the style, but simply because he came off as a bit of a weasely loser in Ocarina of Time who sleeps in a dumpster, which doesn't seem much like him. While the forehead and nose being the same thing is a bit weird, and the curly eyebrows and the fingernail-less hands are weird, overall I like the new buff, robed Ganondorf, he seems to have a bit more of a take-no-crap look about him.

Re: cel shaded or not

I don't know about Tetra's Trackers but Four Swords looks like it's gonna be big. There are already a ton of people with a GBA and GBA/GC linkup cable, whether you got it because you wanted the Tingle Tuner or for other reasons. You don't need two GBAs to play Four Swords for the Gamecube unless you want to play with two players. As far as I know they're going to make it so you can play Four Swords with one player, unlike with LttP/4S for the GBA.

In terms of the next Zelda adventure game, I found that cel-shading brought a lot more life to the game. They can do things with it that they can't do with realism, and there are some things they can do with it that they'll NEVER be able to do with realism. As mentioned in another post (I don't feel like scrolling up lol) getting shot out of a cannon without using cel-shading would just look stupid. This is a fantasy world, and as such it's not real, but they need to make it seem as real as possible. Without cel-shading in the Wind Waker there would have been minimal humour as well (I love the enemies, Bokoblin's reactions when it sees you and runs after you, and the Moblins when you hit their foot and they hop up and down, small details like that). I wouldn't mind seeing a different Link model though, because I'm sure they could add more detail to him and still give him just as much emotion using cel.

Just my two cents,
Jibbity
