Co-Op in Skyward Sword

I really hope that Skyward Sword will have co-op. Seriously, how fun would it be to take on the adventure with a few of your buddies online or locally? It could be like in Four Swords, with each player having a different colored tunic. Each player would be free to explore Hyrule on their own, but you would be automatically reunited at important plot moments and dungeons.I can't help but imagine how awesome and fun this would be. What are your thoughts on co-op in Skyward Sword?

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

I've been wanting 3D Zelda games to include some optional co-op dungeons ever since I played Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

Palette swaps are lame, though, I'd want player 2 to get a different character.

Maybe the second player could be the sword girl!

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

I think it'd be cool, but it should be structured like Monster Hunter in concept. Skyward Sword is already inspired by it (such as the dedicated sprint button) so I wouldn't be shocked to see some minor multiplayer features.

I find it's easier to cooperate with one person than three.

That's why the Four Swords titles are party games more than serious installments. They're geared around "Got 3 friends? You can play Zelda with all of them now!" More than "Join Link as he collects 3 items, does something big, collects 7-8 more, then fights Ganondorf with the Master Sword in hand."

It's a gimmick, in other words.

I can't imagine it turning out well. But then again, I'm not a game developer.

Co-op would be fun. Especially if there was an online option.

But a serious 4-player Zelda game? Not so much...

If there's co-op there should be different incarnations of Link playable and **** with all of their items and spells.

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

I don't see the point. Why can't you just hand the controller to your friend if you REALLY want to play with a friend? It's designed as a single player game, and for those of us who intend to play it single-player, it seems like a waste of Nintendo's time to design features we'll never bother seeing.

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

I myself would prefer it if the main Zelda series stayed a single-player experience, with Mario-Galaxy-esque co-op for bored spectators/people who want to aid noobs.

True, the second player could be a fairy. It would be a conservative approach, but still a nice perk.

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

I wouldn't mind it.

But from past experiences the "co-op" would be one main person playing with some form of aid from the other player. Like the tingle turner.

But if they got rid of that then yeah. I'd be down for that.

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

definately make it like Monster hunter where everyone gets their own screen. seeing how well it worked with monster hunter tri, I have confidence that it could work with zelda. Now If only the boss fights were as good as they were in monster hunter tri. Thats what I really want from a zelda game, A CHALLENGE.

Re: Co-Op in Skyward Sword

They've done 1-player cooperative dungeons before (Jabu-Jabu, Earth/Wind Temple, Tower of Spirits). Would giving NPC control to Player 2 be so alien?

I like that idea, actually.

Although, it would mean they would need to make all temples or even the over world 2 player needed.
Could be a good idea to have a sidekick that actually does something for once, that could be controlled by a player also. Which would get rid of having to get a different character every temple like in those WW ones.

I figured it would be just a couple optional levels. Comparable to the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory alternate mini-story.
