Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

Well, i think that there will be no faries, because it looks more serious.

I don't think we will ever have another fairy flying around our heads ringing or chirping "HEY!" again like the days of OoT and MM.

Since this game is (i think) the sequel to the WW, i think that there will be no fairy partners.

Good AND bad

Good: We don't have to hear the "HEY!" anymore

Bad: Some of us started to miss Tatl and Navi in WW.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

There has been a thread like this.
But I'd like a fairy. I don't know why people assume it's going to be 'more mature' or 'darker' simply because of a change in graphic style.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

While I would like to have a fairy companion for several reasons, I seriously doubt there will be.

Why do I want one? Well, it made z-targeting more realistic... and, frankly, as anoying as that high pitched voice was, it was good companionship. That didn't sound right.

But it's not going to happen... fairy friends were a N64 thing. They weren't in any other system's game (even at the same time) and this needs to be origional. This isn't going to be a pathetic atempt to rehash OoT's golden era. No sir.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

Link got a fairy because he was from Kokiri forest. Unless this Link also believes he's a Kokiri, we won't see a fairy.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

Faries are the third most anoying things in the zelda games (one being Tingle, the other Aol)

And fortunately it seems that, from the screen shots, there will be no fairy.
L-targeting was done perfectly without the fairy, and the other use, giving
clues to where you should go, should not be included in future games.
Figuring out what to do on your own is so much more satisfying than having
an anoying fairy of glowing rock telling you what to do.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

I want some sort of animal partner that aids you in battle and grows through the game. And you can pick three different ones, and you can only pick one, so that adds to the replay value.

As for fairies, they're ok, I guess...

This game has been confirmed as the sequel to the Wind Waker by Nintendo themselves.

Back to the topic in hand though, i think there might be fairies involved in the new Zelda, Navi might make a return (Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask were realistic and both games had fairies)

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

It sad to see the loss of fairies. I'd like them to return.. maybe not as Link's partner but atleast somewhere in the game. After all, in almost every Zelda game, Link uses fairies to revive himself.

And in Wind Waker, I found it slightly annoying because there was no fairy and Navi and Tatl told you the names of the enemy. In WW you don't know the name unless you use the Tingle Tuner. I hope we get something which tells you the name of the enemy in Zelda 2005, whether it be a fairy or not.

I hope we do see atleast one fairy who speaks though.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

It really all depends on the type of game it's going to be. If it is a sequel to OOt with the same Link, then yes. If it is a whole new Link, then know. It really all depends.

Red face Abaout another fairy partner

Since, the Zelda 2005 is (in someway) a continuation of WW, I don't think there would be fairies surrounding Link. Is probably, that Link uses the same eye-tracking system, or something alike ...

It's not for the "Mature thing" that the fairy partner will no appears (MM is the most Darker Zelda game until now ... and you have a fairy) is just, that I din't think that the Nitendo people will repeat the same (equal) system of the N64, they (needs) to improve.

Saludos

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

That would be great to have a fairy come back. But if the trailer doesnt show one, there probly isnt one. That makes me sad. But you never know, this game is a sequal to TWW, but Link has a horse in it similar to Epona...my point?: there is a possiblity for a fairy, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

My little brother spotted this but I'm not sure. In the screenshot from the Zelda trailer, where Link is on horseback during the day time chasing some enemies with his sword drawn, my brother swears there is a fairy following Link. I myself think that it may be one of the arrows from the enemies. Not having fairies in the next Zelda game, well, I don't really care either way. Nintendo's going to make a classic regardless of what's in it. Let's face it a lot of Zelda fans would probably be happy with an empty disc with the words 'Legend of Zelda' on it Seriously, though, both OoT and WW system of targeting worked well. So, its really a matter of personal taste as to which you like better; fairies or no fairies.

I dont think there should be a fairy in the New Zelda but they should keep the monster info thing...it was kinda fun learning about the different enemies and finding out how to kill them

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

Yeah, learning about the monsters/bosses was good, in WW theres not really a way of knowing their names unless you have a guidebook or that stupid camera.

And I like Will's idea of the animal thing, like the animals from OoS and OoA. Although I hope they would make it better than they did in those games.

Actually, it has been, unless there was a problem with translation. There's an interview with Miyamoto and Aonuma at Zelda Legends, which reveals the game is indeed a sequel to The Wind Waker. Just look for yourself...

Ultimately we decided that in showing a teenage Link really the best style of expressing him would be something that's closer to our graphical style in Ocarina of Time. So Mr. Aonuma actually wasn't lying at the Game Developer's Conference when he said we were working on Wind Waker 2. He just didn't tell the whole story. And fortunately because he didn't tell the whole story, we were able to surprise you all here with a big announcement about the series.

Re: Fairy in Zelda 2005?

Well, Searanox, Miyamoto's comment can be left open for debate. By saying there is a Wind Waker 2 could have just meant that there would be another GCN Zelda game, which is not of the style of FSA, and of the style of TWW. Personally, I believe that it is not a direct sequel, as this game presumably is taking place in Hyrule, whereas the Link of TWW lives in the Great Sea. Also, the graphical styles of the two games contrast to such an enormous extent, that I would find it too difficult to say that the Links of these games are the same. Yes, I realize that graphics don't mean a thing when it comes to a matter such as that, but I would just find it too different.
