The Minish Cap renamed for Europe!

'The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap' will be re-named in Europe to 'The Legend of Zelda: The Magical Hood'.

I quite like this name better than Minish Cap plus I live in Europe ^_^

I found this out in CUBE Magazine and then searched on the net for it so here's a link:

I don't think it will be changed for the North American release for some reason.

Im not sure which name I like best.
Is Links hat a cap, or a hood?

And it would be strange if it was called two differnt names, one for Europe,
one for America, usually they keep it the same.

Well in Zelda games they tend to call it a hat but it's more of a hood than a cap, that's for sure.

I don't know why they are changing it but they must have reasons.

I assume it'll change for Australia too. I like The Minish Cap better, even though Link's hat is definately not a cap. The Magical Hood sounds kinda lame.

Ugh, why can't Nintendo leave some things alone?!

EDIT: I just noticed your post MalonLover-Why do you read CUBE?! All it does is trawl on the Internet looking for rumours, then prints them as fact! Spend your money on NGC, it's so much better!

I know, another person has told me to buy NGC over CUBE... But I've got a neat little collection growing and it looks so sool now It'd be a shame to quit now.

I don't know why I buy magazines though. I find all the info from Internet so there's not much point in buying mags but I don't want to stop now ^^;

I will probably stop after this gerneration of consoles

As for this new name 'The Magical Hood', well it does sound kind of ... 'kiddy'? I mean magic hoods... But compare it to Minish cap. I think it does sound better.. ugh this is a nuisance. There's no need to change it. *sigh* I hope the NA version gets a name change for our sake or we have ours changed back...

I don't have any problem with it, even though I would have liked it if they kept the other name.

I like the name "the Minish Cap" because it's talking about Link's Cap, and the Minish people, easy as that. I personally don't know what to call Link's hat. When I hear the word "cap" I usually imagine a baseball cap. And when I hear "Hood" I usually imagine a piece of cloth that's attached to a shal/sweater/ that is meant to be used as a hat (Look at a rain-coat, hooded fleece, or Little Red Ridding Hood, if you don't know what I'm saying).

For now, I like the name "Cap" better than hood because Link's hat certainly isn't attached to Link's Tunic. I really don't see a reason why they should change the name. I mean, didn't they already show us the Official Art of the title screen? Does this ring any bells:

Even though I myself don't live in Eruope or read Cube, I have learned that they cannot be trusted. Did they happen to mention where they got this info?

Both names are awful. They need to stop being unoriginal 'tards and naming the games after the main items in them.

They couldn't of had the new name in the states, or too many rap lovers will think the game's gone ghetto.

Heh, I know the feeling, I used to get CUBE (You only want them for the disks on the front! ^_^ j/k)
But seriously, give up CUBE magazine, it really is terrible.

And Sear, the names sometimes work, like in OoT-The game was about the Ocarina of Time. So it does make some sense at least!

Regarding the NGC magazine, is it the magazine that used to be called N64 but later changed to NGC? If it is, that's a great magazine, I still have some N64 magazines and they're damn good, but now I've got Internet (I used magazines when I was younger as a source for information and contact with other Nintendo fans).

On topic, I kind of agree with SearanoX. Even though I like 'The Minish Cap' name more than 'The Magical Hood', I think both names aren't very good at all.

Though there is something I really must say about Zelda names, and that is that they almost always make you confused, but you later understand the name better once you have beaten the game.

I didn't know what 'Ocarina of Time' meant until I realized what an Ocarina was and what you used it for in OoT.

'The Wind Waker' name was all about the tool you use to decide what direction the wind shall blow, (not only that, though) and I also think the 'King of the Lions' boat called you 'the Wind Waker'.

I still don't understand the meaning of the name 'A Link to the Past' though.

There's a discussion about that in the NES/SNES thread called A Link to the Past? What is it referring to?. You should take a gander, you may just find your answer there.

As for the Minish Cap/ Magical Hood title, like WZ4, I like tMC better, but they both stink. The only reason I like tMC is because it makes sence. If you look at my previous post it clearly shows that Link's hat is not a Hood, but a cap (not a baseball cap mind you). And another thing that makes sence is the word "Minish" which means to make something small (or something of that sort) and the word "Minish" also refers to the Minish people.

It has no actual meaning. It was chosen by the man responisible for the English translation of the game (forget his name) because it simply sounded cool, and was a bit of a pun on the main character's name, Link. The Japanese name, translated, is "The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods".

I dont really like the two names, and If I had to pick one I would mix them both together and call it "The Minish Hood" as cap like others have said, its not really a cap is it?

It's more of a cap than a hood... our definition of cap is biased due to baseball and trucker caps... really all a cap is is a soft head covering with no brim other than an optional visor. A hood is an extention of another article of clothing
