New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Yers, so I was just browsing through a few old newsgroups and found an interesting post... so instead of writing, I'll be lazy and quote... woo!

Quote:
1) The game is said to be released in summer 2005 in Japan and at the end of 2k5 everywhere else.

2) Link might, for once, not be confronting Ganon but a new, evil army called "The Horde".

3) Possible titles include "A Link to the Darkness" or "Legacy of Link"

4) Myamoto has apparently again re-iterated that just because this game uses realistic graphics does not mean that Zelda may never again return to cel-shading in the future.

The very poorly translated article:

One starts to know some about new Zelda to appear a little more on GameCube. All d'abord, the game should leave in summer 2005 to Japan and end l'année everywhere in the world. However, all modifications of date, former or later, is possible. What is interesting, c'est to know that: The play proposes an original scenario where Link will have for once not to face Ganon but a called mysterious army "La Horde". One has heard for a few weeks at Big N the titles "The legacy of Link" or " In Link to the Darkness" but let us guarantee qu'il will have a modification there. However, by analyzing these titles, one knows that the play will be centered on the character of Link and qu'on will s'aventurera in a dark universe. This next Zelda wants to be very modern, limit avant-gardist and perfect transition with the play such qu'il could l'être on the next consoles new-gen. A very new and very fresh demonstration should be proposed d'ici the end of l'année. Last thing, and not of least: Miyamoto made well include/understand qu'il can remain several facets of its legend. So new Zelda (not that one, one is d'accord!) could very well again use Cell-Shading. In fact, l'ambiance graphic is corrolée with the maturity of the character. It does not matter graphics as long as the play shines of thousand fire. But it is clear that the return of Link such as everyone l'attendait risk really to make more than sparks. A fire of passion in the heart of Nintendophiles? One will speak again about it in the months to come.

Of course it is quite possible that Ganon isn't in this game, but you still never know... these days Nintendo have been keeping Ganon as a secret in their latest games (Wind Waker, FSA). But yeah, speculate away, woo!

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Wow. Nice find.

A Link to the Darkness isn't all that original though, since A Link (To the Past) has already been done before. Anyways, remember the Oracle games? Ganon wasn't supposed to be the main villain, Onox and Veran (sp s?) were. But Ganon ended up rearing his ugly head in the end.

...You know, in the end, what I truelly want is a 2d game as good as ALttP. I'm looking forward to the Minish Cap. I hope this game can top OoT, or at least, not be far from doing so.

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Haha, well you have to remember that the article was translated badly... prolly BabelFish or whatever... so "Link to the Darkness", if it is anything close to the title of the game, would probably be loosely based around it. Or whatever.

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Good info although I've seen it around already but thanks posting it here.

I think Nintendo wanted to release the game around the same time in the 3 different regions in the world (Japan, US, Europe) but they say the US and Eu versions are coming by end of 2005. I don't mind though really.

As for 'The 'Hoard' or whatever... Well I sort of hope that Ganon does appear in a way. Sure, it might get slightly annoying to fight Ganon in nearly every Zelda game but it just gives it that traditional feeling of the Zelda series. Like in the Oracle games, it could well be that you fight this 'Horde' and Ganon appears later. Who knows.

For some reason I don't think TMC will live up to OoT expectations although it can try. It's probably due to the space of the GBA cartridge. I don't think it will be bigger than OoT because of this. I am really looking forward to the game though and I hope we get something close to ALttP here.

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

"The Hoard", it does kind of remind me of Aol or the oracle games, perhaps
they are trying to revive ganon again.

And the title "A link to the Darkness", perhaps thatn means it will involve
the dark realm, the desert area in the trailer looked like it could be.

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Ganon will be in this game. Everyone can be sure of this the way the Zelda franchise has been treated lately.

Hopefully this 'Horde' works its way into gameplay as well and not just story. There's probably a good chance of this after watching the trailer. Small armies of enemies roaming Hyrule field would be awesome, especially if Hylian knights are there for true battles.

A Link to the Darkness and Legacy of Link could be in house code names right now, but I really doubt they make the final cut. Ever since Ocarina of Time, the title has had a close relationship to the key item of the game. Actually I hope there is no special item in this game and relies on a more organic system, or none at all. Some have suggested light/dark. But that is a different topic all together.

Finally, do you know what the site's source is? Nintendo of Europe has always been loose with info, and definitely a possibility.

What? The song of passing, I'm pretty sure, is in WW. And what skulls? What relevance does this have to the topic?

Okay, sorry.

Now, on topic, that sounds cool! I doubt they really have a name for the game at all yet, but those don't sound too bad. And I don't really want Ganon all that much. It will get kind of old, though I'm sure he'll be around in Zelda games for as long as Zelda lasts (forever, hopefully. ^^) Not too much info there, but nice none the less.

Ah yes, I'd have to agree with you my pitchfork weilding goat friend. Showing Ganon over and over again can get tiresome.... I'd like to see another Gerudo be Ganon's Protege....I don't think Twinrova would be considered....but a new enemy. Heck, we already have them (Twinrova) General Onox, and Vernan ( I don't think there's proof that they are completely destroyed...probably they were sent back to the Dark Realm before being completely destroyed or something).

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

This game seems more and more like my fiction every time I hear new rumors. The Horde? I thought for sure that could be MY idea...

Anyway...I don't like the possible titles. As scary as it might be, the title for my fiction seems to suit the game better, judging by the screens and the information so far. 'Wars of the Hero'...

I'm starting to think more like the game designers every day... *shudder* My fate awaits me...

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

I really hope Ganon isn't in this game. He's a good villain (oxymoron) but he is being overused and the series needs to expand in more directions story-wise. The "horde" might be wanting to revive Ganon, but I think it would be cooler if they had their own feared leader and they are seeking to take over Hyrule.

Edit: Whoops, sorry LoS.
*changes "hoard" to "horde"

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Those possible titles are in no way reliable or final. I would bet my life and quite a bit more that they won't be the final ones.

...Ok, maybe not my life, since I tend to value it to much, but I am 100% positive that they aren't the final names, and I'm pretty darn sure that they are, in fact, just foolish names thought up by some fan community to another.

I'm still clinging to the hope that Nintendo will keep to it's pattern - one main game with Ganon, and one without, for each system. I am beginning to think they'll abandon it though, in favor of the cheap selling point of having Ganon, again.

And why on earth are so many of you seplling "horde" wrong? It's horde, not hoard.

Speaking of which, I am very skeptical of this Horde thing.

Re: New Zelda 2005 Info/Rumours

Yeah, Ganon is getting old. Link too. I don't want another Princess Zelda, either. Why not just have brand new characters for everything!

Seriously, though, while I agree that he is overused, I couldn't live with myself knowing that he was gone. He is the center of the series' villany, and something has grown inside of me that makes me feel that when Ganon is gone, so is the whole series...

What I want are games with Ganon to become more spread among Zelda games. Have him in flashbacks and suggest his presence a bit, but don't actualy put him in the game. Have him as a sort of brooding overseer, not actualy mentioned, but you know he's there. That way, games WITH Ganon in it will be rare and special... other than vice versa.

Yeah, Ganon is really overused. In fact, so is Link. Heck, so is Zelda, and so are rupies. You know, even using swords is overused! Link should be replaced by a newer, hipper person who knows martial arts. And he should just be up against some sort of evil martial artists. And why be in Hyrule? It can take place in OUR world!
[/sarcasm]
Ganon is NOT overused. He is one of the three most important characters in the games: Link, Zelda, and Ganon. Ganon hasn't been used in LA, MM, FS, or AoL, and frankly I think it's enough. He should be in most og the games, as that is what makes the Zelda series... Zelda-y.
EDIT- o_o DIUM went off on the exact same shbiel as me... actually it's the other way around; I didn't read his post when I posted this.
