Re: Skyward Sword General Discussion V.2

Hmmm...almost all last gen console games are a bit too washed out...and almost all next gen games are way too highly contrasted. SS is looking a bit too washed out. It was probably intentional, but I wish they'd use just a little more black. X_x

My teacher said impressionistic paintings don't use black. But I beg to differ. There is definitely some black in those paintings. *shakes fist*

I'm going to always hold the sword pointed straight out in front of me and yell when I run around.

I guess that's why the shadows on the ground look so weak, then. Pity, that.

It was very busy. But since this section of the building is open to the public I don't think I can get in trouble for telling you guys about it. I might be repeating some things you already know.

The Motion Plus peripheral makes the controls a dream. I was watching one guy play it at first and he held the Wiimote in front of him like most of us tend to do, but it made Link run around with his sword held right in front of him too and it looked silly. So when I played I kept the Wiimote at my side when not using the sword. ;P Anyway, the sword really does do just about anything you want it to. Getting used to the movement of the blade was a little weird at first, but once I figured it out it was great. There are Deku Babas whose mouths open both vertically and horizontally so you have to swing the sword the proper direction to beat them. The Stalfos battle was great, again using the directional bit. It blocked at different angles so you had to swing with the right precision. The new dash function is really cool too, lets you practically leap up walls. The bow feels good with these controls, and this new item is some kind of remote control bug that lets you grab things from a distance. The graphics are brilliant too, very eye-catching. It plays well, it looks good, and all in all I can't wait for it to come out.
That's awesome! @_@ Glad you had fun! Can you explain the purpose of leaping on walls? Is it kind of like...say Assassin's Creed with a Free-run mechanic? xD

And oh man, the way Link runs with the sword up in the air looks so dumb. When I play I'll make sure it's to the side.

The way these guys in the E3 videos run around keeps making me think of Legend of Princess. The more I think about this sword control the more I love it for the wrong reasons.

Re: Skyward Sword General Discussion V.2

I really want to have some time alone playing SS. That way, I can get really into it and scream and hop around like Link!

Also, I'll probably hold my arm more towards my side/behind me like Link does when charging a spin attack in OoT. I really want to try an uppercut on something. Just slice a bokoblin's nads off. I don't think there's even been an uppercut in any Zelda games so far.

Hmm... I wonder, would it be possible to walk up to an enemy from behind and slit its throat?

Well I didn't get enough time to try it out that much, but the purpose of the sprint seems to just be for reaching slightly higher ledges and climbing slopes. It also helps when trying to escape an enemy while near death. I've never played Assassin's Creed so unfortunately I can't make a comparison. But you're free to move wherever while sprinting. I didn't let the meter run out while doing it either so I don't know what happens when you do.

Re: Skyward Sword General Discussion V.2

It does remind me of Legend of Princess...except with less bounce.

Haha, this game is going to be sooo fun to mess around with. *Spins sword around. Does the Disco dance* TWW Link does uppercuts in his normal (up) combos.

Oh, that's right. WW Link had some odd combos.

Re: Skyward Sword General Discussion V.2

I just hope what they showed is not the entire complexity of the sword mechanics. I hope it gets alot deeper and more complex by the end of the game cuz just cutting vertically or horizantally seems far too simplistic once figured out.

Is there anything they didn't how us you can do? Does the beetle travel far? Was that big bug thing a boss, or was it just thrown in somewhere?

Niiice? Yes no?
Well, that depends on wot you were going for. If you are trying to make it realistic, you must remember that the world is not covered in a sheet of blinding light so bright that you can only only see 20 meters away. But if you are just going for it to look cool, then yeah, I would say it does. But I am preferring the original, nothing personal

I think the last one with the Links holding their bows would be funnier if Wind Waker Link was before SS Link, and put in an animated gif with text. You have Link 1 facing straight, Link 2 facing straight, and Link 3 aiming up seeming ridiculous. Aw yisss...

Re: Skyward Sword General Discussion V.2

I think you'll learn new attacks throughout the game. Like...swing Vertically 3 times and then horizontally once after doing a backflip...to trigger a _________ attack.

Or something.

Again, I didn't get enough time to play with it, my uncle had a meeting to get to. I didn't get to see the big bug unfortunately, so I can't really tell you anything about it. The beetle went really far, it only stopped when I slammed it into something. Which happened a lot actually.

Dang they really are kickin it up. And yeah I think we've all clarified by now that the gameplay was that of a dungeon.

The scorpion guy sure looks like a boss. Or at the least a mini boss imo.

Lucky you. It seems like we are going to be in for another great game then.

Just a few questions:

1. Was the demo in a sort of dungeon?

2. How did you control the bow and arrow?

Re: Skyward Sword General Discussion V.2

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the scorpion was a miniboss. From what I can tell you just randomly encounter it in a cave. I hope SS has a lot of random minibosses that aren't important to the story or anything. Fighting the same one more than once would get redundant, though.

When has a miniboss ever been important to the story? D:

1. Well, it felt like a dungeon. At the very least it was near the entrance to one. The Stalfos battle and the area's nearby made me think it might be.

2.You set the bow in the menu. Then you ready the bow by holding down C. Pull back the nunchuck to draw the string, aim and release C to fire. It was pretty fun.
