Nintendo should develop a series of 2D Zelda games for gamecube

Nintendo should develop and release many chapters of 2D zelda games on gamecube in the vein of "Four Swords"(say about 6 different games, released every 4 - 6 months). They dont have to be four player though. Single player works just fine as proven in "Four swords". Each chapter should continue a story arc that doesnt get fully resolved until the last chapter (game 6).

I think it would be wise for Nintendo do something similar to this. A project like this would provide a steady stream of revenue over a few years. Im sure these 2D zelda games are pretty cheap to produce and dont require many resources. All you really need is to lock yourself in a room once a month and have everyone that is working on the game to write down any clever puzzle designs that they can think of. I think a bunch of us Zelda fans should get together and send an idea like this to Nintendo. I mean, I found "Four Swords" to be more fun than the stunning "wind Waker". Wouldn't you want more of these types of Zelda games on GC?

Ummm no I wouldn't like this to happen to Zelda....at all. If a new Zelda game was made every 4-6 months then it will be just as repetative as Mario Party. The first time it's fine, but after awhile, it get's dull....quickly. Zelda games are unique and should come out once in a while (a game every 1-3 years). kal123, I know you must like Zelda (and so do the rest of us), but having it in that fasion will just make it worse. I find Zelda games to be a Thanksgiving turkey. You get it once a year, you savor it for as long as possible, you talk about the good and bad memories, you want all the trimmings, and you'll remember it for a lifetime. I hope you can understand that your idea would never happen. The closest to come by that would be to consecative(sp?) games for the GBA (like the Oracle games). I wish you luck, because that's all you are gonna get if you want this to happen: wishing and a whole lotta luck.

True, but it will be the 3D, graphically lavish zelda games that will be the turkey in this day and age. These 2D games are just appetizers.

But too many appetizers will make the turkey stale.....enough with these euphamisms....either 2D or 3D, Zelda games should be rare. That's why we could apreciate them even more.

2D games on GameCube? Why do you think they made a GBA (SP)? The 3D games go on GameCube, the 2D games go on GBA. Thats why they have it. (Besides portable gaming). I agree with BigGoronSword on the 4-6 months thing. Zelda is a lot more appreciated because it didnt share the same fate as MarioParty.

I agree here

I think that the zelda series should remain 2D on the GBA and 3D on the Gamecube/DS (2D Zelda on Cube is good, but just the one will be nice though (FSA looks awesome))

Re: Nintendo should develop a series of 2D Zelda games for gamecube

kal123, if you like 2D Zelda games so much, you should wait (key word in that phrase was "wait") until the DS comes out. If you look at the new Super Mario Game that's coming out for the DS (not Mario 64 X 4, but the other one) maybe ZeldaDS will be like that, or it could be in complete 3D, who knows? I don't think it is wise to have a game come out every couple of months (like I stated previously), but a couple of years. If you want to play a great game, give it time to develope, and you won't be dissapointed.

I agree, too many Zelda games would be dull! And I definetly don't think we should have more than an occasional 2D game for gamecube.
GC = 3D GBA = 2D Put the 2D games on GBA.

Re: Nintendo should develop a series of 2D Zelda games for gamecube

Too many Zelda games could ruin the franchise. I don't really like the FS games because they are making the Zelda series to much like Mario. I prefer Zelda as a single player experience more than a party game.

Why do you want your first experience with TP to be a mirrored one?
The GC version is superior overall - admit it.

I wouldent mind them making EXTRA games not just suddenly change to 2d because that would be bad, but if they made 2d games aswell as the 3d ones then that would be fine with me.

Re: Nintendo should develop a series of 2D Zelda games for gamecube

I say stop making 2-D games unless they end the whole Four Swords thing. It's way too hard for Zelda fans that may not have friends or friends with GBA's. I've got friends, but none that have GBA's. I don't even have one right now. But then again, those that have friends with GBA's are having a blast and I wouldn't wan't that to end for them. I just wish I could get in on the action.

Re: Nintendo should develop a series of 2D Zelda games for gamecube

i think it would be cooler if they made a a 2D game... a link to the past for example... and made it the same storyline and everything only 3D. and it would be harder and longer. thats my 2 cents.

If you want to play 2-D Zelda games on your GC then buy a Gameboy Player.

Re: Nintendo should develop a series of 2D Zelda games for gamecube

I don't think they should be making too many of those 2D FS games. An actual 3D FS game where you could actually use the GC controller for multiplayer would be cool though.

Yeah, the multiplayer function on FSA was just trying to rip you off into buying a connecton cord.

And The Real Link, What he meant was not remaking it and putting it on gamecube but making LttP 3-D. Like making OoT 2-D.

I think the 2-d Zelda games were brilliant. I have FSA and the 3-d affects with the 2-d sprites/backgrounds were fantastic. I think maybe more opportunities will open for games like this when the DS comes. Well, time will only tell ^^.

Yes, time will only tell...I just hope time will be quiet about it until tMC and Zelda'05 comes out. hahaha I'm j/k...well there was some seriousness(sp?) in there. I agree that 2-d sprites with 3-d affects are cool, but what I was expecting of FSA (and probably others as well) before much information was out about it was, the whole game to be 3-D in cell shaded graphics. If they do make another FSA game, I hope that it will be 1-4 player... with no GBA linkage.
