The death of Z'05

I've been thinking. The hype for this game is going to be huge. The problem is, people might be expecting OoT reborn. This game will not be OoT reborn. OoT was one in a million, it cannot be recreated. It might get bad reviews because it's being compared to OoT. So it might not have as big a place holder in Zelda society.

Re: The death of Z'05

Hm, good point. I can easily imagine Zelda zealots putting it down because they can't let go of OoT. Fortunately for me I have a more objective view of games and the series they belong to and try to appreciate each game for what they're worth individually as well as in relation to the series. I look forward to finding out more about the game's story and gameplay elements.

Most of the people at ZU are pretty flexible. I'm mostly referring to Zelda fans "in general"

Me too, and we've all seen the results of Ocarina of Time fanboys who can't embrace change or improvements. Personally, I can't wait to see what the next game has in store for us, and I specifically hope that they do not stick with a hackneyed Ocarina of Time approach. I wish for improvements and big changes. Ocarina of Time fanboys not only want pretty much the same game recreated, but actually strongly believe that this game features the Hero of Time.

Yes, hype can make a good game seem less good. We won't be able to see a revolutionary game like Ocarina of Time again because that was the first Zelda game in 3D, but we can hope for monumental improvements over Wind Waker.

Re: The death of Z'05

Yes the hype for this game will be HUGE It is really going to have to be one hell of a game if it is to be compared to OoT. I think like people have said, becasue people are expecting it to be OoT 2 in a way...it is going to be a hard task for "Zelda 05" to do. But we will just have to wait 1 long year to find out.

Re: The death of Z'05

You are tottaly right. I noticed this when fanboys started saying stuff like "It looks like the same Link from OoT" or "The horse is Epona". They are just building up false hopes.
I think it is important that this game does not use the same Link. The fanboys need to let go of OoT. Thankfully I have no special regard for OoT, and I will be happy with any Zelda game so long as it is a little more challenging than Wind Waker.

Heh, I wasn't referring to ZU either, especially since I'm new here and don't know anyone. I was referring to the people who can't accept change regarding the series. The OoT pseudo-purists.

Re: The death of Z'05

I agree on the OOT/ALTTP fanboys, they build up too much hope. Myself, sure, I loved OOT, but that didn't stop me from enjoying TWW... In fact, I had extremely high hopes for TWW, and they were not for nothing, that game truly satisfied me, aside from a few minor issues, which didn't bother me much.

And let me tell you that good graphics and effects don't make a game...

Re: The death of Z'05

Seems weird posting. Alot of my friends still haven't let go of OoT, thats why they were so disapointed with tWW. Most that did not play tWW will actually buy it because of the hype, and it looks so much like OoT with the horse, and Link being a little older. Either way, hype or no hype its a Zelda game, you know its going to be good, they haven't failed yet. I personally hope its not like OoT at all, I want to see new elements in this 'zelda 05'.(Link riding the horse killing enemies looks cool )

Re: The death of Z'05

I agree with this, it is kinda hard to let go though, but there's not really anything to be gained from holding on to OoT, eh?

I myself never let anyone else hype me up for anything, I'll look forward to it if I want to, and I look VERY forward to LoZ GC!

Btw, can people tell that it's NOT OoT Link just be looking at it? Supertails reckons they look the same, but I don't - then again I have a scary crush on OoT Link, and I could give a million and one reasons why they don't look the same.

I mean if I can accept changes without comparing them the OoT, anyone can!

I don't think this will die at all. It's too good! ^_^

Re: The death of Z'05

I thought MM was better then OOT and the best Zelda of them all so I quote on quote "let go of OOT" but I think Zelda GCN will beat out every Zelda to date. I dont think OOT's greatness had anything to do with the dissapointment called Wind Waker. It was just those graphics. bah!

Re: The death of Z'05

Sure, I loved OoT, but that doesn't stop me from loving every other Zelda game. I really loved aLttP and MM. tWW was another great game, only flaw for me was the difficulty, but I can't complain really. I mean if it has the Zelda title, excluding the Phillips CD-I games, it will at least be good, but every Zelda game is great. I will be first in-line to get Zelda 2005, and I will enjoy it for what it is.

Re: The death of Z'05

I'm actually hoping it WON'T be OoT "reborn". I liked other Zelda games better. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game. But they could make a better game. Maybe not everyone will except it at first, but they CAN outdo OoT. What did it have that can't be made better? The new game has better graphics, can have a possibly better plot (though OoT had the classic), harder dungeons, better dialouge. I know some OoT fantics won't like the new game if it isn't their beloved OoT, but I think they could easily make a better game. I will love the game no matter what. I don't compare one Zelda game to another, hoping for the same expirance. I love varity. Which is why I've loved every Zelda game. They all bring something new to the table.

Re: The death of Z'05

Anyone visit ZU today? They had an article that said the game was inspired by OoT. Not just the graphics but the game in general. Interesting...

Re: The death of Z'05

Indeed. I expected that. In and interveiw Nintendo said that they're trying to make a game that will actually be better than OoT, so of course the game is going to be inspired by it.
And I say this: Why do we need a Hero of Time? Why do we need a Hero of Winds? Why can't it just go back to the good old days of Link being just...a hero.

Re: The death of Z'05

I will say, like most other people, people should give up OoT. I enjoyed playing through it twice, the first time, and OoTMQ, after those two times, I never found any sort of replay value in it. Oh and playing inbetween OoT and OoTMQ, it was still also boring. Of course, I would still play through it now and then, but it felt boring, really. If it is an OoT reborn, I am going to be pretty disapointed with the game. As it is going, it will most likely not be OoT reborn.

Re: The death of Z'05

I beleave that Miyamoto-sama confirmed it as a sequel to WW, but these things change (such as him mentioning that WW came 100 years BEFORE OoT while it was still in develepment(sp?)) any way, I doubt that the OoT fanboys will be dissapointed, and if they are, so what? It's not like any of us cared about them hating WW, so why should we care about them hating LoZ: 05?
