Re: Fairy as a guide?
Personally, I like the Pirate's Charm a whole lot better. I always thought Navi as a "baby-sitter" for Link. She tries to protect him from danger by giving him information and whatnot...and this new Zelda'05 Link doesn't look like he needs a fairy looking over his shoulder every moment of his adventure. If there is a fairy, pray to the goddesses that she/he/it will be quieter than Navi.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
Come on, Navi wasn't that bad. At least you can ignore her when she's trying to tell you something. Yes, I know she says "HEY!" about every half an hour, but that's pretty much it. The whole thing lasts for less than a second. Face it. She's easily ignored.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
Actually I like the fairy's better than having the KingOfRedLions and Pirates Charm. It seems more like companion than a item that way. I kinda like having a fairy along for the ride, although I liked he fairy in MM a lot better then the one in OOT for some reason. Tati just seemes to have more of a reason to follow link arround. I just wish that the fairy didnt talk for an hour every time you press up C. Actually I hope they have a whole new method of companion in in the new Zelda.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
*is on floor* No... No... No more fairies... I'll do anything... No more... No more...
sorry. I didn't like the fairies. They were too much. Tatl was OK advice wise, but they're also a visual irritation compared to the arrows and when they are jogging along side you and when they fly out towards something, all the time in fact.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
I loved the fairys Navi and Tatl I thought they were great as a guide/freind whatever you want to call them. But I think these things have had there time
although I would love to see them make a return I cant really see them in future Zelda games. I think the Fairy fountains should always be there in every Zelda game. The Pirate's charm was good but c'mon how could that compare to Navi and Tatl? it could not thats it.Well we will just have to see what Nintendo comes up with. |

Re: Fairy as a guide?
Wouldn't we see a fairy in the trailer if it had any role as a helper in the new game? I seriously doubt there is a fairy in there, and I seriously hope there isn't. I liked Tatl waaaaaay more than Navi, but I just don't want the return of another annoying fairy. No no no. Unless they somehow fix the fact that they gave help when I didn't want it and said the obvious. I liked how they let you know enemy names, though.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
Personally I thought the fairies where great companions on your adventures - Although they didn't provide much assistance (especially not Tatl), it was nice to have someone with you on your quest, giving you a feeling that you're not all alone out on your quest.
Though I doubt that we'll see the return of the fairies - From what I've read, I seem to remember IGN writing that it will use the same system with Link's eyes as we saw in TWW, and have himself spotting the important things you just can't miss out on. I dunno, I just felt that a fairy did that part better than it was done in TWW.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
I loved both fairies. Navi and Tatl are cool, yet it is the truth that Tatl is a little more of a main character. The "LISTEN!!" was actually kind of cute the first few times, but after that it got annoying. I still prefer the fairies over the items, though.

Re: Fairy as a guide?
Hopefully fairies won't guide a true adult Link. I liked having them but its just. They are giving me useless help.... I mean Tatl was there when you needed to lock-on to something, but usually left you alone.
In all I hope Link gets some Hylian friends that help him Zelda '05. |

Since tWW Link is all grown up in this new game, I have a feeling that Link won't have a fairy companion (or at least I hope not). If there had to be a fairy of some kind, I'd choose to have the sages that Link would have to rescue (I'm assuming if there are sages in this new game) transform into fairies and tell him a little bit about the next dungeon he has to face (a lot like the maidens/fairies in FSA).
