Off Topic: Since when has it become so trendy amongst posters to make everything a special color? Maybe I should get into it. I choose... blue!

On Topic:I think having anything other than a fairy, or at least some sort of small flying thing would look a little clumsy. How about a focus trick instead of a guide... like, bluring everything but your target a bit?

Oh, and I thought the Great faries in WW were a lot better than the freaky OoT ones. I agree with you about the other fairys, though.

In OoT Link was still a child at heart, since he had lost seven years of his life, so he probably wasn't up for adventuring without any guide. Now that he has really matured, I think he'll be on his own this time.
I still want fairies to be in the game, as characters as well as healers. But I want them to be balls of light with wings (maybe if you stare at a fairy in first person you could dimly make out an outline of their body) as opposed to the chubby barbie dolls with wings that were in TWW.

Re: Fairy as a guide?

I think that a fairy or bird would be a nice partner, but I think it would be awesome if they played more of a role in the game, like TKoRS. Also if the fairy/bird could help you in battle more than target and give info that'd be cool, like attack the enemys. Personally I liked the whole idea of the telepathic stones in ALttP. The ones where you'd touch 'em and the elder would give you help on the dungeon and what not. I liked that, but the fairys were pretty cool, but a fairy a bit less bratty (Tatl) and less annoying (Navi) would be nice.

Re: Fairy as a guide?

If you had a fairy then the game would relate to OoT, if you didn't then perhaps the game could feel link Alttp or LoZ. If fairy's were in the game, then i totally agree with Hylian Dan about having Link be able to see an outline of their bodies...

Re: Fairy as a guide?

I liked Tatyl a lot. She was teh awsum. Bratty street-smart fairy who actually was a character. I loved how she talked back to you.

Navi was OK too... Near the end of the game she got fairly less anoying and her enemy info started to show some character. I think this evolved from the writers having to write for her so much... from experience, I know that even the most bland characters become interesting unintenionaly when you write about them for a long period of time.

How old do fairys live? Now this idea is teh awsum. Listen listen listen. What if Navi has a little cameo! She can be flying around in the woods somewhere and you here a little "hey!" when you ride by her. OK, maybe not.

I had an idea, earlier this year, that was along the line of this: Only when you are down on hearts, you could use a spell like Nayru's love, but with an extra twist (a barrier will protect Link as you get to control your fairy/bird to attack. When all your magic drains from your magic meter-or-you recieve three hits from enemies while controlling the Fairy/bird, the spell ends).

If you liked that, you should play OoS and OoA, they have "Owl Statues" that sorta do the same thing. But I understand what you meant, you wanted it in 3D.
