Zelda Wii Will Not See a 2010 Release

I expected this. As new as the game is, I always figured 2011 would be a much better estimate.

I'm hoping it won't be as linear as TP. You couldn't really explore the world of TP, because... there was nothing to explore. It was a huge and empty piece of land.
To be honest, I've been losing hope in this series, because the most recent titles have been lacking in quality.

I had fun on TP's overworld. It's one of my favorites


But Miyamoto doesn't want Z-Wii to be linear. Which is some awesome news. Remember the NP interview? Awesooome sauce.

Well that's good news.

NP: Now, before you showed the image, you talked about wanting everybody to have unique, personal memories of their adventures in Hyrule. Is that something you're actually trying to implement in the game--a personalized Zelda experience for every player?

Miyamoto: Every person's own individual experiences with the game should be unique and [be] their own sort of "My Zelda" experience, and I think that's super important, and we have to look at that when we're creating dungeons and how we can make that come true. So spending a lot of time concentrating our efforts in that area. But it's not going to become individual: "Hi, I'm this Zelda!" or "I'm this Zelda!" or "I'm this Link!" or whatever. The experience will be unique but within this world that we've defined.

and at E3...

Miyamoto's idea is.. to give the player a more impacting experience and really feel Link's journey through the game, by creating memories of the characters you meet and things you face along the way. These would be things that would differ for each person as they play their own way through, so everyone would have unique memories. How you approach a dungeon, solve a puzzle, or complete a side quest all add to this.

Now I'm getting my excitement up there for ZWii (not that it wasn't high before, oh god no...) and I'll be jumping up and down when they show a trailer.

Sounds like this Zelda is more story driven. I suppose this could get interesting.

Well if that's true then my excitement has been raised ever so slightly.

I'll be running on walls when I see a trailer.

I expect to see the trailer next summer or fall. More likely, fall. There is hardly any information regarding the plot and storyline of ZWii. I've also heard that it will be announced at E3 2010. Just have to wait for that.

I agree with this dude , i mean come on look at it, they barely showed artwork and didnt mayamoto say thats wat they barely did??? just face it, we probably wont see another zelda till atleast either 2011 or 2012.

Or maybe they only release trailers closer to release date. Look at all the games Nintendo showed at E3, they're all coming out within a year of announcement.

First of all, Reggie basically said that they can't give it a release date yet, because they're not sure if it'll be finished in time. Second, did anyone here actually think it would be released in 2010? Yeah, miyamoto said they're aiming for a 2010 release, but big zelda games always get delayed. Third, that comment has nothing to do with whether it will be announced next year or not, which it most likely will during E3 2010

I actually think it has already been delayed without us noticing it. Back in 2007 they were already hinting they were working on a new Zelda and then it got silent. now in 2009 everybody was expecting a new Zelda trailer but nothing happened.

If you ask me they've been giving this game an overhaul because of motion plus, they made it sound like it is in the very early stages of development back at E3 but I can't imagine Nintendo not doing anything about a legend of zelda for wii for almost 2 years if not more.

Its already a fact that it will be out next year, Nintendo bullsed up the hype for TP and no they want to really keep the hype down for as long as possible.

If reggie said it would be out next year, we'd be partying till its release when we realise we had just wasted the last couple of months. They will announce it at E3 just like Spirit Tracks, we will get a small demo/trailer at E3 and it will be released around Christmas time.

Also, if they say 2010 they will be forced by IGN and GameSpot to reveal extra features, thus ruining the hype. If they really want to up the hype near release date, I could see a Corruption like demo channel being released.

Good news to me IMO. this game has to be realllly fleshed out and uber. High expectations for me. i just wish they could give us some more info. E3 is a long way away, but we'll have to wait. plus, it's nice we're actually seeing some number dates, not TBA dates.

I think we will get the game in late 2010 or early 2011.

Give me a 2011 with StarFox, F-Zero and Zelda. And whatever Wii title with peripheral that comes out that year.

I'm really not that bothered with waiting. I survived the gap between ALttP and OoT. Anyone who did the same has no right to complain.

I'm hoping there is voice overs in this game. I'm not talking about Link, just whatever is in the subtitles, someone is saying.
