New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Looks like Miyamoto has revealed a few more tidbits involving the difficulty of Spirit Tracks and the nature of MotionPlus in Zelda Wii. It seems as if he's whetting our appetite for some amazing games, doesn't it?
"[Zelda ST] will be really fun. It's turning out to be rather challenging. Many of our Japanese customers were introduced to the Zelda series with Phantom Hourglass, and ST could prove to be kind of hard for them, but I thought we'd show them what Zelda is really made of this time around. So it's turning into quite a unique title. We've managed to gather quite a few creative team members for Zelda ST, so I'd like Zelda Wii to also enjoy creative development as much as possible. About MotionPlus. We're implementing it so that players can feel like they themselves are holding the sword. In the previous Zelda (TP Wii) the targeting was based on the IR pointer. This time however, we'll be using MotionPlus for a variety of more convenient targeting systems that will allow for more pleasant gameplay. " Sounds good to me, and it looks like those believing that Link will be swordless (if anyone actually did believe that) have been proven wrong. I'm also pleased that Spirit Tracks' difficulty will be upped, as Phantom Hourglass' short length and easiness were my only irks with the game. Okay, then, discuss!

Awesooome. I hope Miyamoto isn't lying about ST being harder than PH.

Yes! I like these statements! Bring them in, then school 'em.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Exciting news for each Zelda title! I'm not interested in ST, but I like ot hear that they are trying to inteionally make this game more challenging for players introduced to Zelda through PH, but I'm dying for Nintendo to give us a Zelda game that challenges veteran Zelda players (that's why difficulty settings are essential).
And hearing anything on Zelda Wii is a treat! I'm really glad Nintendo is pushing the Wiimotion Plus for it. Hopefully, this Zelda will be a pioneer for rather dramatic gameplay shift in the same vain as Ocarina of Time changing the gameplay.

Sweet. Glad to see they're not making it childs play this time around. Well, not baby childs play anyways. I'm actually looking forward to the motion plus usage. Not only will it add a more active element to the act of game playing but just think of it for a moment. Link and Ganondorf in a duel, he swings and you actually block his attack live with your own sword, that's awesome!

God dammit. Miyamoto is such a tease, I'm falling for it again. I really hope both of these games are good.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Wonderful!
I'm extremely happy to know that Spirit Tracks will be a more challenging game than Phantom Hourglass. Also, I'm actually quite pleased that MotionPlus is being incorporated into Zelda Wii - it'll actually feel much more like a Wii title, I believe. |

Thanks for giving me something to post
Anyway, I'm glad that ST will be more difficult than PH and the fact that they are going full out with MotionPlus has me stoked.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Cool. Nintendo, or Miyamoto, said a million times that ST is going to be unique and a very hard game. Can't wait to play it soon.
Its good to hear that Zelda Wii is using motion plus controls. It will probably turn out to be an awesome game. Can't wait. |

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Oh, thank God. We now have confirmation that Zelda Wii isn't going to have a terrible 1st-person mess of a combat system- using MotionPlus for "a variety of different targeting systems" is a great way to go- I'd love to see the game with multiple interfaces.

Motionplus for the targeting systems?
Okay, they've got me intrigued. Because I don't have a clue how that will play out. EDIT- I wouldn't get your hopes up in any way for Spirit Tracks. Look at how Miyamoto worded it- "Many of our Japanese customers were introduced to the Zelda series with Phantom Hourglass, and ST could prove to be kind of hard for them..." If he's saying it'll be hard for people who have experience with a single, pretty basic, Zelda title, this shouldn't be especially satisfying for people that have been playing since the 80s.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
No kidding. Especially if it will be 1:1. Almost seems like it will have to be over-the-shoulder directly behind Link in order to get this 1:1 motion swordplay lay-out down.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
I can't wait for ST to be harder than PH. I hope he isnt lying. As far as ZWii goes, i like the sound of being able to wield Link's sword myself as long as it dosnet take away from the zelda feel of the game.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
By MotionPlus for the targeting systems, I had the impression that it may be somewhat like Archery in Wii Sports. That could be interesting.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Keep it in perspective. I once remember him saying TP was hard with 60 to 80 hours of gameplay.

Re: New Tidbits on ZWii and ST
Yeah, but at least ST is harder than PH. That's better than same or easier.
