Zelda Wii connected to TP?

I don't mean that Zelda Wii stars TP Link.

Remembering the pre-release TP trailers, there was an awful lot of stuff that
never made it into Twilight Princess. Maybe they had created so much material,
that one plot couldn't very well cover it, and they split it into two games, and
made each game follow a separate plot. Maybe the stuff in the trailers that didn't
make it into TP will be present in Zelda Wii... perhaps they were going to do a
"super Ocarina of Time" with Link traveling hundreds of years instead of 7. That's
why Link finds his bow with the Gorons. But this idea was taking too long (delays)
so they split the story into two separate Links. One in TP's time, and one hundreds
of years before...?

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

I don't know about that, but I can definately see it having a relation to TP. Spirit Tracks is about a few hundred years after Phantom Hourglass, so maybe, given the shared art style and whatnot, Zelda Wii only takes place a hundred year or so after TP?

But I have to say, that time travel idea is as farfetched as it gets.

Some overworld designs changed, most notably the forest areas
Twilight Realm changed from grey-scale to colorful
Moblins
Weird darkness/slime monster
Weird giant in the forest

These are regular things that occur in any game development cycle and while materials that get cut certainly have a chance to make it into future games, there's nothing in particular to support that theory in this particular case.

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

I think ZeldaWii MIGHT give us things TP left out (Such as a giant battle ) , and it will probably explain somethings from TP (such as maybe the divine prank, or even the twili) but that's probably all that ZeldaWii and TP will have to do with each other.

That's not how I meant it.

Often times during the game development cycle ideas pop up that can't be implemented
late in development, so they carry over to the next game. This has happened
numerous times with Mario and Zelda.

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

Well as far as the Divine Prank goes, I was always under the impression that it was simply that for some reason, the Triforce split at the same point in time in the child timeline as it did in the adult timeline, but in the child timeline Ganondorf was being executed by the sages at the same point that he touched the Triforce in the Adult Timeline.

But that's coming from the most uneducated theorist ever, so who knows?

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

I think that Zwii might take place after MM.
And I agree that they are probably putting a bunch of stuff that couldn't be implemented into TP.
I think that they are really going the extra mile with this game.

Not really, no. All areas from the trailers are in TP:

Hyrule Field, desert, forest... They just don't look the same and don't contain the same things. It's like I change your sig from this:

to this:

Same goes for temples, but you're probably right about quests.

This needs to be in Zelda Wii. We are in need of some epic battles.

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

I personally think that most of the areas from the Twilight Princess trailers were never intended for the final game. I think that Nintendo may have rushed the Zelda team to produce a trailer before they'd actually created enough material, so the team quickly put together some character models and locations and filmed the trailer with those. They probably didn't care about whether those locations were fun to play through, just that they'd look good in trailer form. And they do look good in trailer form.

I do not believe Zelda Wii will be the same as TP, storywise. But I do believe that they will use some elements from TP such as similar graphics, similar items.

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

It is said that the Era of Twilight is long past.
Perhaps there will be references from Twilight Princess for sake of Nostalgia, but nothing very direct.

I simply wish for a hint or simple reference to Midna in this next title, a little nod to her grandeur. [Please to not troll me on this, guys. Let's be mature.]

I'm sure he said that rather early in the game's development.

They've released a picture hinting ZWii, so they can't be as early as mentioned above in development for ZWii.

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

Perhaps the Goron monster will survive the jump to Zelda Wii *hope not*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-x2cl9ACV4

But sure, maybe some unused and never-before-seen-by-the-public designs will be used in the new game, these things happen.

A barren field with 20-something identical monster and maybe 5 boars, all rendered in mediocre GameCube graphics? No thanks.

I agree that we need epic battles in Zelda Wii or any of the other gazillion Zelda titles that are coming out in the future, but the scene you posted doesn't really qualify as "epic".

As Man of World already stated (and as I have about a million times on these boards), most of the stuff in the trailers were in TP in some way or another.

This reminded me of something, did anyone actually go into the fishing boat in the trailers, I don't remember going in it while playing through.

Re: Zelda Wii connected to TP?

...It was a teaser. A beta! Remember Spaceworld 2001. They showed TWW and that dungeon never appeared in the game. Actually it's probably the Forsaken Fortess and Forest Haven. But it changed a lot.

Or even back to OoT. OoT was in the process for years and many of the things in eary beta never saw the light of day. Open Forest, crazy combos. Never made it. Everything smaller too, just like TP.

Replayed TP earlier and this popped out to me. When refering to the Master Sword Ganondorf said:
Quote:
An impressive-looking blade...
But nothing more.
Would you hear my desire?
To take this foul blade...and use it to blot out the light forever!
Could be foreshadowing just like how the end of OoT and TWW foreshadow future games.

I thought he was talking about the Sword of the Sages he brandished at that point.
