HERE is a detailed chart of the stages of life. There are actually eight, I just didn't think there was much of a chance Link will be 18 months old

I'm not going to really go into detail about him (this is a thread about VA after all), so HERE is what wikipedia has to say about the guy.

Sorry for getting us off track >_>

Re: Link's voice actor...

You can only form so strong an opinion based on grunts alone. Nonetheless, I'd go with Akira Sasanuma on the grounds of his grunts and battle cries all sounding more badass.

As for an actual voice actor for Link, I'd say a smart choice is to keep him a mute. The only time I can name where they gave a once-silent protagonist an actual voice actor and actual dialoue was Jak, and while I was largely satisfied with it, with Jak becoming a largely more invovling character, TP managed to do enough of the same thing with Link while simultaneously keeping him a mute. I can be one for tradition, and while I do think that voice acting in Legend of Zelda should be looked into (can't stress enough who my main pick for Ganon would be), I think the tradition that they can hold onto forever is to at least keep Link mute. It's been that way for upwards of twenty years, and I've not yet felt the need to complain about it.

Re: Link's voice actor...

I really do prefer Link's TP voice. I've always preferred a more adult Link anyway. I always thought that Link was a young adult in LoZ, AoL and ALttP - despite the "kiddy" graphics.

Though if they were to go with VA for Zelda Wii, I think it would be better and more important to find a talented actor who can channel Link's integrity and heroism to our speakers

But if they decide to keep Link a "mute", they might as well keep the TP actor to do more of his awesome grunt work

Re: Link's voice actor...

Akira Sasanuma didn't make my ears bleed everytime I used an attack in TP, so yeah.

OOT Link's voice was so screech-y, I remember wanting to bash my N64 with a hammer as a kid. Young Link was even worse in that game.

Re: Link's voice actor...

Nobuyuki Hiyama hands down!!! 8D

Actually, him and the guy that spoke Link in TP are a tie. Nobuyuki is best with battle cries and Akira (isn't that a chick's name?) is best with common noises.

Put 'em togethar!

*SLICE* *DEFEND* "Holy rupees of death mountain Link!"

Sorry, had to be done.

I never really noticed all that much difference between the grunts in OoT and the ones in TP, so either one would be fine with me honestly. Just so long as it stays grunts and never a single complete sentence I'll be happy.

Re: Link's voice actor...

I guess I should answer the question that was asked in this thread instead of just not saying my input. >_>

I think it should be TP Link's voice. I like it. Now, I did like OoT Link's voice and wouldn't complain if they used him again, but TP Link's voice is perfectly fine with me. :3

Either of them is fine with me, actually.

D= But it was so memorable. I still mimic Link's voice when I'm playing OoT.

You're all wrong.

Link should be voiced by Morgan Freeman.

Re: Link's voice actor...

None of the above.

One of the things that gets me is that so many of you have this thing about Zelda having to be reminiscent to old Celtic, but Link's grunts kind of go against that, don't you guys think? Link's grunts since OoT are bluntly Japanese and would be more suitable for a samurai character. I wish Link's suggested voice was made by a British or Irish actor. I also wish he would be more human and realistic in his grunts. If Link is suggested to be a silent character, then more subtle grunts and shouts would be more suitable as well.

I don't mind it much myself, but I'm getting sick of it. It's not so much the Japanese flair (let there be more Japanese references or influence in setting, etc.), but I don't like the idea of OoT's voice being the standard voice. There are new Links, and new voice would refresh the character a bit as well as make him more noteworthy. I wish that every new Link presented would be unique and distinct from the OoT archetype (the HoT is like the modern Link archetype of sorts. All Links since then carry most of his aspects).

Gilbert Godfried needs to be Link's voice actor. If that happens, my head will explode from insane amounts of sheer win.

Re: Link's voice actor...

Link should actually be voiced by Dan Castellaneta (voice actor for Homer Simpson).
