The Legend Of Zelda: Suit Of Collapse

EDIT: Disregard this, I'm going back to the drawing board with this idea guys. It really didn't feel Zelda to me so I've gotten rid of it.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Suit Of Collapse

1. Pixel monsters could make for a fun throwback to past Zelda games, but I personally think the idea is a bit too weird, and too self-indulgent. Also, the pixel objects/characters might not fit in well with certain art styles. What kind of art style would you want this game to have?

2. I'm opposed to the idea of such heavy gambling themes in a Zelda game. Nintendo games should follow Nintendo's ideology.

3. Your ideas for tribes and their cultures are very good.

4. I don't like how you've messed with established concepts. It's too late in the game to swap the Triforce owners around, and it's also too late to make Link another species. If Nintendo were to do so, there'd be anarchy in the fanbase.

4. I'm not so sure that your story's focus on building a giant drill would hold the player's interest. The background of the story is fine, and Link's ultimate goal of reinvigorating Hyrule is alright too (though it's a bit of a simple fix), but there are better ways of getting there than by having Link build a giant drill. I appreciate that you're trying to think outside the box and come up with original ideas, but I personally think this one needs some more work.

5. I don't like the idea of presenting an impoverished, dying Hyrule in bright colors. The two concepts don't mesh well at all.

6. I like the idea of blurring the line between overworld and dungeon.

7. I like the idea of timeline theorists being referenced. Funny stuff.

8. I love Ganondorf's motive, but I don't like the idea of Ganondorf being reborn without his spirit and having to fuse with his older self - I think it's possibly too convoluted.

9. I'm not too sure what you're trying to do with the gameplay. On one hand you want a simple control scheme, but you also want a more complicated spells system? Do want to make the game more intuitive or less intuitive?

yeah, this is why I scrapped that idea - I had no idea where to go with it or what gameplay it would present. I imagined it to be like Twilight Princess semi-realism, but the pixels and the pixel world beneath the ground would be very bright and contrasting to the gritty TP style.

Yeah, I pretty much became aware of just how conflicting this theme would be once I'd devised the idea. I like the theme of cards, magic and gambling, but I know it will never happen in my lifetime.

Thanks.

Link collected the Triforce of Wisdom in Zelda I.

No, but in all seriousness, the idea was that Ganon would be the "clever" one and Zelda would be the powerful one throughout the game, leading the long time fans to question their motives. It also links back to Zelda I where Ganon was the "blue" character (wisdom) and Zelda was a red character.

Can't argue with that, the whole drill thing was pretty much pulled out of my ass.

Think of it like a graphic novel. bright primary colours up the wazoo, but also heavy shadows and grim themes. Or better, if you look at the promotional art for Majora's Mask, that's what I was going for. Bright colours and dark themes can be done right together.

Good point, I should have probably changed it so that his motives were only REVEALED when he was given the ToP.

I suppose what I really want is ease of access to those items and spells. I still want PH-esque controls, because the ideas of drawing all those lines and what-have you worked well, but I also sort of want a spell system that is organised as such so that you can get to them whenever you want.

But rest assured, I'll be going back to the drawing board on this idea. I wrote it last night, got a good nights sleep, and woke up with the realisation that the only part of the idea I actually liked was the descriptions of the species'.

Not a bad game idea, but I see no reason for it to be Zelda. The only thing I can see adding a Zelda license would do is:
A) Improve sales.
B) Anger Zelda fans.
