Re: Let's pretend Nintendo JUST showed the teaser trailer
It can be similar in character design....maaaybe. But I don't want to be reminded of TP when I play it. That'll only ruin the experience for the new game and for TP. It's the same issue I against ST and cel shaded Zeldas in general. I don't like the copy and paste look.

I noticed this in the most recent Miyamoto interview, in which he explained that he doesn't have the time to check out other systems and/or games. Well, maybe he (or some random Nintendo employee) should take some time to see what everybody else is talking about. Link wearing a jumpsuit and hopping around small spherical worlds? I don't think so ![]() Really? It's a Zelda game, of course it will sell well ![]()

I don't think they'd risk that prestige by copying other games, especially when being innovative has worked for them this far. Quote:
"Really? It's a Playstation console. of course it will sell well." Brand loyalty having a huge effect on sales is a myth. There's a reason Nintendo ditched the "Game Boy". There's a reason that Nintendo didn't label it the "Nintendo Wii". Just you watch, Nintendo will ditch the "Wii" brand next gen. Don't count on the brand name pushing it through sales.

Other companies do bring their own ideas to the game industry and I think that Nintendo should take a good look at what they are doing in other to find inspiration or to build on those ideas. Nothing wrong with that. You can't live in a bubble forever *looks at Double A's location* .. never mind ![]() (I'm kidding of course) They've said that they are doing their best with this one and they are obviously working hard at it, instead of just releasing TP2 to make a quick buck. So yes, of course it will sell well - unless they really screw up with the game somehow, which is unlikely.

Re: Let's pretend Nintendo JUST showed the teaser trailer
Here's what I think the next trailer will look like:
Slow, romantic violin music fades in as white cursive letters appear against a pink screen: "It was a love that withstood the test of time...." "A union bonded by courage and wisdom....." "A tale of unending devotion to save the land....and each other....." Screen fades in to show Link and Zelda kissing passionately under a waterfall near Lake Hylia. Screen zooms out and we see thousands of people cheering, as the two lovers are finally getting married.... Screen fades to lettering again: "The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of Passion" .......................I would run my car off a bridge the next day.................... In all seriousness, I think we can expect the graphics of the next trailer (and therefore game) to be along the same vein as TP (judging by the only available concept art), but hopefully amped up quite a bit. I would be really happy if they looked anything close to Final Fantasy style graphics/realism. And as far as the hype level Nintendo will be trying to stimulate with the next trailer, some of you are making the valid point that it is bad news to hype the game way up, and then dish out a not-quite-as-good-as-we-hoped game (TP), but if Nintendo doesn't create enough hype, no one will care to remember when the game is coming out. What they're going to have to do is create a huge hype with this next one, and then DELIVER! They're going to need it after TP and, based on how it looks so far, probably ST too. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed TP, but we all know it was made out to look more epic then it actually was. In order to do this, they will need to pan the camera through a few gorgeous environments, show characters with cutting-edge graphics (or at least substantially better than TP graphics), and show Link fighting a few new, monstrously scary, and difficult looking enemies. Then there will probably be some scenes of Link sword fighting with another character (training), possibly 1st person, utilizing the WM+. Then the camera turns around and we see Link fighting even more vigorously with a monstrous, sword-wielding enemy. (The whole game would definitely not be 1st person, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had something like that for sword-to-sword combat, or similar to the final Ganon fight in TP). As far as music goes, I would love to hear a real orchestra instead of midi, but I don't know how likely that is. And as far as VA goes, I too would be intrigued to hear someone utter an ominous quote at the end of the trailer (something sinister from the main villain, who we only see a small portion of their face or body?). I'm not opposed to VA, although I think it would be tough to find the appropriate voice for Link without causing a million fanboys to put guns in their mouths. Possibly VA for everyone except Link (although then they might need to explain why everyone but Link can talk)? |
