Zelda Idea
Before I start, sorry if I put thisin the wrong place, but I dunno where else to put it.
Well anyway, this happens after the events of OoT (I have no idea where it would go on a timeline, but in the AT). I don't have a real backstory yet, but a mysterious (evil) character breaks the sal of the Sacred Realm, and releases Ganondorf, who attempts to retake Hyrule. Link has to restore the seal (and I know this is in essence OoT all oveagain, and ideas would greatly help change this). You have to collect the 6 gems of Hyrule. Forest people (eg. Kokiri) Emerald Goron Ruby Zora Sapphire Gerudo Topaz Shiekah Amethyst Hylian Diamond. So anyway, you play the game, collecting these gems. When you collect them all, you go to confront Ganondorf. You have him trapped, and are about to send him back, when he is stabbed from behind. He dies, with his soul returning to the Sacred realm, and the person who killed him becomes the new ruler of Hyrule. It turns out he is the character from the start, and he released Ganondorf to take over Hyrule. (So Ganondorf is actually a puppet, as opposed to having one). As king, this "Ice Prince of Darkness" (yet to be named, ideas?) banishes you from the land of Hyrule, and casts a spell. After a period of time, you find a way to break the curse, and return to Hyrule. By this time, the evil prince has wreaked havoc on Hyrule. The forests have been burnt down, Lake Hylia has been frozen over, sand storms from the Gerudo desert are ripping through Hyrule, killing everything, and Death mountain is erupting over and over again, becoming unstable. In order to corect things, you need to gain control of the 4 elements (earth, fire, water, wind). You go to the 4 temples and collect the stones, granting you the power to control it. Throughout the temple, you alse collect the respective gaunlets. So the Water temple starts of frozen (you have the fire gaunlets from the fire temple), so you can melt parts of the temple to access it further. Eventually you get the water gaunlets, so in order to fully complete the temple, you need to freeze and unfreeze parts of it. When you collect all 4 stones, you go face off against the prince, whom has become extremel powerful. You need to use the four pairs of gaunlets you have collected to beat him, before trapping him with the elements (stones), when he splits into four, and becomes one with the elements, effectively destroyed.

Ladies! Will you please shut it? Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don't love you. Of course it makes you look fat. I've never been to Brussels. It is pronounced "egregious". By the way, no, I've never met Pizzaro but I love his pies. And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is once again gone. Savvy? |

Re: Zelda Idea
Huh. This little thing seems a bit familiar- kind of a mix of OoS, OoT, and kind of MC in terms of plot. Get magic crystals to stop Ganondorf, it doesn't work, Hyrule becomes a desolate place, and you must bring things back into balance.
The problem here, though, is that you're setting this in a Hyrule very similar to that of OoT on the Adult Timeline. Unfortunately, there's really nowhere to squeeze a game of this magnitude in there- he escaped only once, and was nearly immediately foiled by the coming of the great sea. So this would have to take place on the New Hyrule somehow, and we don't know if it even has Gorons, Zoras, and Gerudo, and the Sheikah are pretty much wiped out. Otherwise, there's really not that much this has going for it- the plot seems kind of uninspired- "Oh no, it's Ganon, let's collect junk and try to kill him! Oh no, it didn't work, and now there's a new bad guy who's functionally identical to Ganon in every way! Let's collect junk and try to kill him!" However, I do really like one aspect that I think I see, even if I'm not sure this is the case from your description- I don't know if this was your intention (the water temple paragraph was kind of vague), but perhaps you could have the bad guy scatter the gauntlets out of their respective temples. The "all of the dungeon items are the same thing with different elements" thing was done in MM already, but by making Link have to partially complete other temples in order to gain access to new parts of another (perhaps by having multiple bosses and treasures that require you to come back later), you could provide a new twist on the usual formula of a Zelda game. Otherwise, I suggest you kind of drop Ganondorf from this, since it doesn't really fit with the canon and it shouldn't be any trouble to have the villain's plans take a twist without doing a TP by Hijacking Ganon himself- just build up the villain from the beginning and perhaps make him less of an "evil guy what destroys stuff". With the relatively generic plot, you should have some gameplay/formula innovations to back it up. |
