To everyone who complained about super guide...
In case you haven't seen this yet:
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/...-as-contra&a=2 Like many of us predicted, it seems the reason nintendo came up with this is that they're now able to raise the difficulty level for us "hardcore" gamers, while still letting casuals have their easy fun. I swear, if zelda wii will use this, it will probably be the hardest zelda in many many years. Discuss. |

Re: To everyone who complained about super guide...
While I am very relieved that there is a strong possibility of a challenge next time Zelda makes its rounds on the Wii, I still find it rather ridiculous that such counter measures are having to be taken to make sure non Gamers can cope. I mean come on, making the game play itself? Rather drastic... Nonetheless, if it means I get some difficulty in my Zelda, it's worth it.

Nice find, thanks.

However, we will still have to wait and see if they have any plans of introducing it to Zelda. Well if people want the computer to play for them, then so be it. You don't have to use it, I sure won't. It is still an optional system - and options are a good thing. It allows the newbies (i.e. normal people) to actually finish the games without dumbing down the difficulty. That is the sole reason to why the recent Zelda games were so darn easy; Nintendo has tried to create some kind of "universal" difficulty level to balance the games and that has obviously not worked well at all.

Not neccisarily. The super guide could show you the fastest and easiest way to do it, but for us real gamers we can do it anyway we want.

Re: To everyone who complained about super guide...
If a super guide was implemented in Zelda it would probably just be comparable to a hint function. Come to think of it, Midna pretty much is the super guide!

Re: To everyone who complained about super guide...
I'll be overly excited if they crank up the difficulty to, well, difficult. I've been waiting for a challenging Zelda game for a few years now, and if Zelda Wii is it, I'll be very happy.
Even if I die 80 times, I probably still won't use the super guide. I like challenge. (: |

I'm pretty sure it's called Demo Play.
You can't save when using it though. It's like having a video walkthough attached to the game.

Re: To everyone who complained about super guide...
If you let the game play for you, do you start playing again where the cpu left off, or does it just show you what to do and then you start playing where you left off?

Re: To everyone who complained about super guide...
This upcoming fun smaller scaled side-scrolling Mario game shouldn't be compared to the likes of a big console 3D Zelda game to have a super guide in any way similar. It's still going to have to be Navi/Tatl/KoRL/Ezlo/Ciela/Midna style at the very least is what I think. While it's nice for an insanely high difficulty level to be there if some form of super guide is an option, I'm against a super guide in this kind of game. I like a happy medium difficulty level and I would find ways to make it harder for myself, and to keep the hard difficulty reserved in form of a '2nd quest' via LoZ style.

You'd think Nintendo would be able let the AI control Link in their own game and have him solve the hard puzzles or beat hard enemies... you know, similarly to how NPC characters work. Now if Zelda Wii turned out to be incredibly open ended, like the original LoZ, then "Super Guide" would be hard to implement - but I'm guessing Zelda Wii will be (at least) as linear as OoT. IMHO, it's the developers' jobs to make the game challenging - it's not my job *thinks of 3-heart quests*.
