The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of Salvation
![]() Legend Of Zelda Symphony of Salvation ^lol crappy banner. Anyway, this is my own idea for a Zelda game. Uh… yeah. Sense everyone else seems to be making one, I figured why not throw in my two cents. So I decided to make the story quite a bit larger and in depth, as well as trying to tie up some of the timeline. Also, there is a greater emphasis on the characters and their development. I also threw in some of my ideas about game play and items. Really though, it’s just overall much larger. Oh, and it’s a bit darker as well, although I don’t know if it’s any darker than Majora’s Mask. In short, it is simply the Zelda Game I would like to play. Also... prepare for an EPIC wall of text! The Timeline: This takes place after the events of LoZ II: AoL. Ganon is dead, and has been for quite a while. At this point in time, the waters from the Flood have recessed far enough so that the world is larger than ever before. Hyrule has survived in relative peace ever since those dark days, and the hero has not been needed for many years. This all changes, however, when the Scythians attack. Linearity? In most Zelda’s, the game is very nonlinear in the fact that you have to collect so many items from so many temples, and you decide which one you want to go when. While there is a certain section in this game where you can choose in which order to do three temples, because of the increased focus on story, the order of the temples are basically laid out for you. However, this does not mean the game has to be linear. There would always be plenty of extra places to explore and new things to do. Not only that, but there would be various different options on how to solve the dungeon, kill the monster, or slay the boss. Also, all of the bosses, in my opinion, are well thought out and none require only the dungeon item to kill, but instead simply a creative mind. Filling the World to the Freaking Brim: In Tp, there were tons of pretty much useless items that you couldn’t use much outside of their dungeon. Now, in this game, there are even more items and more things to collect, but that does not mean that a lot of them will be useless. Instead, they can add great diversity to the game world. Not only that, but there would be an increase in side quest. Not side quest like the chicken lady wanting you to round up her chickens, but more like mini missions that end up having a real impact on the story. The biggest of these side quests would be the four love sq’s which would affect the ending. I’ll go more in depth on this later. I also want the side quest to give really nice tidbits on the story. Repairing the Timeline: It does not necessarily repair the timeline, but fits nicely within it. Not only that, but it wraps up the end and ties it too the beginning in a neat package. References from The Minish Cap, such as “the Hero of Man” are explained, as well as the creation of the Hylian Kingdom. Various other mysteries like the erasure of Gerudo males and the final fate of Ganon and Vatti’s souls. Finally, it brings the focus back on Zelda. After all, the series ain’t called The Legend of Zelda for nothing. Tiny Outline: Hyrule is being invaded by a massive Empire from overseas, the princess has been captured, and villages are being mysteriously destroyed. From this chaos, a young hero named Link emerges. However, soon he will fight an evil that has been around as long as the goddesses themselves. Not even the great Hero will be able to pull this one off alone. Here's the more in-depth outline. Just skim the section's titles if you don't want to read it all: Sirise Village and the Quest’s Beginnings: The beginning is very similar to LTTP, but none of the rest of the game is. Before Link is seen at all, the Goddesses appear to make some quick commentary. The cliché dark screen is shown with the whirlpool of colors representing the three Goddesses. They say, “This is the tale of how light triumphed over evil, of how Hyrule’s eternal salvation was orchestrated, of how time itself begot a hero… This is the tale of how the legend began… The Legend of Zelda.” Yeah it’s kind of cheesy but gets the job done. After this it cuts to good ole Zelda talking to her Shiekan servant Ursa. She says something along the lines of, “A great time of evil is approaching… I fear for not only my people, Ursa… But for the world itself.” Ursa replies, “So you’ve been having those dreams again…” Zelda continues, “My visions used to be crystal clear, but now the future is obscured and cloudy… It is as if time is not only running out, but completely unraveling as well. What is the world coming too?” Ursa: “My lady…” Then Zelda closes her eyes and concentrates while thinking “Link… Link… Listen to my thoughts…” It is then that the screen cuts to a shot of Link violently awakening in his bed at Sirise Village. He is inside his house and looks around to see his Uncle donning a suit of armor. He says, “Still having nightmares, Link?” He chuckles a little, “Why don’t you get up and do some work already?” You then gain control of Link, who at the moment is in similar clothes to those of TP Link at the beginning of his game. You get to go around the village exploring and completing various tasks, while building up a bond with the villagers. Not only that, but you get to fool around with your horse Epona after a small herding mini-game. Your best friend is the young girl Moriya. She functions as not only the childhood girl left behind, but will also have a more important function later on. So, she’s kind of like Saria/Ilia. Not only that, but she is one of the 4 love interest of Link’s. You also hear some key gossip from the villagers, such as how there’s a war with Scythia and how entire villages are being destroyed. Now, throughout the day you obtain useful items such as the Lantern, Fishing Pole, and Slingshot. The Slingshot is actually different than the bow, by the way. I’ll go into that in the items section. Finally your dad caps the day of by teaching you how to fight with a Wooden Sword and Shield. The First Mission: The next day begins with the Village Elder having to go on a journey to Hyrule Castle. Your uncle, being kind of the village knight, has to escort him. Also, your Uncle believes this is an excellent opportunity for you to experience the real world, so you get to go with him. After one last fight with Uncle to make sure you’re ready, he gives you the Steel Sword! You then depart with the Elder, your Uncle, and Epona. You travel through Hyrule field with them learning about horse based combat. However, it’s pretty easy sense your Uncle is there to help you out. Soon you arrive at Hyrule Castle. The City Elder begins discussing the war with Scythia, revealing some information to you about them. Link sees and recognizes Zelda from his dreams. The two sneak off with Ursa’s help to talk. Zelda explains her thoughts to Link about a mysterious dark force and says that she feels a strange connection to Link, like they’ve met before. She also states she senses that Link has a great destiny to be fulfilled. The next day, when Link and company depart, Zelda states that she and Link will meet again. By the way, Zelda is obviously one of the 4 love choices for Link. A New Mission: Back at Sirise Village, you get a chance to complete some more side quests and such. But, when this day is finished, Zelda awakens you from your sleep once more with a desperate plea: she is being abducted! Link quickly runs off with Epona to save her, but without your uncle, it’s a bit more difficult of a journey. Once you arrive at Hyrule Castle, sense it’s night, the drawbridge will be up. So you get to solve your very first puzzle in trying to find another entrance. Link finds his way in through a small underground tunnel with some monsters, kind of like in LTTP. Once inside, you get to sneak past guards a la OOT. Zelda will be telepathically guiding you through the entire ordeal, however. Finally, he gets to a point where all the guards are knocked out or dead. He then finds Zelda’s room and follows the trail she’s left behind to find her. The trail leads him back into the underground tunnel. After a while, he catches up to her on the other side of the pass. There he finds her being hauled away in a cage, bound, gagged, and blindfolded, with strange assassins. The leader, a cloaked man wearing a mask that resembles something similar to OoT’s mask of truth, turns to face Link. The battle is short and Link is left mortally wounded. Destruction: Link awakens to find himself healed by Ursa. She tells him how Zelda believed that Link would be the one to destroy the rising evil. She also states that the men who kidnapped her were from the Scythian Empire, and how she believes the evil is Scythia. After these events, Link trudges home, with his tale between his legs, only to find… it’s destroyed. BAM! Yeah… The whole village is smoldering ashes. Link falls to his knees in shock and grief, his hands digging into the smoking ash. It is at this moment that a strange girl appears. She has pale, almost white skin, greenish eyes, and dark hair. These features seem to give her a ghoulish atmosphere, and when she speaks there is an echo-y effect in her voice. “…You’re pathetic. A few people die and you break down in defeat. Trust me kid, there are worse tragedies in the world than the fate of your village.” A few tears fall from Link’s eyes before he jumps up in rage and attacks the woman. The woman easily dodges his attacks, however. “What? You think I did it? Sorry to disappoint, but I’m actually here to help you.” And then, with a snap of her fingers, she teleports you both. Allies: She has teleported you to the Great Deku Tree. Here, The Deku Tree explains stuff to you, such as how cities are being destroyed by an evil somehow connected to the King of Scythia. He explains how the Scythians are a group that attacked Hyrule from overseas. Also, Zelda is being held at the Scythian Royal Castle. He says you are the hero that has been selected to stop the rising evil. To aid you, the woman, named Epheus, will be your guide. Epheus is able to transform into a dark purple fairy to journey along with you. She does not want to help you, but is forced to because of her debt to the Deku Tree. So she’s definitely more like Midna than Navi. Epheus is also one of the 4 love choices for Link. The Deku Tree continues by saying that the only way to find out what happened to your family is to gain an audience with the Scythian Emperor, and the only way to do that would be with force. The Deku Tree must then determine if you are up to the task by having you free the sacred Forest Temple from the Gohma invaders. This is the first dungeon. The Forest Temple: This is the first dungeon, so the puzzles and enemies are a bit easier, and the entire thing is not very long. The architecture is very earthy, filled with vines and other plant life. Enemies vary from small Gohma spiders, to Deku Scrubs, Skulltulas, and Dekubobas. Along your way, you can free the small Deku people, good Deku Scrubs, and even one giant Ent (a new addition to the Deku family). The hidden item in this dungeon is the good ‘ole Boomerang, guarded by the mini-boss Alpha Spider. Alpha Spiders are large, tarantuline enemies that become more common throughout the game. The main boss of the game is the Queen Spider: Arachnia Gohma. Nothing to special about her, just a generic spider-like enemy. However, once you use the boomerang to cut through her web and defeat her, she thrashes around and manages to destroy the floor. Both of you plummet down into the abyss, finally having your fall cushioned by a giant spider web. Here, you notice thousands upon thousands of spider eggs which hatch into many small gohmas and two Alpha Spiders who eat the Queen Spider. You must fight the legions of spiders while finding a way to burn away the web and the countless eggs. The Next Step: You’re back with the Deku Tree, who thanks you for freeing his children. He states that you have proven your courage, and if you wish to continue your quest you should seek out the Prophet-King Fyskias of the Tyrannians. Before you leave, however, the Deku Tree gives you a parting gift, The Flute of Salvation. Although this is called a flute, it is actually a Recorder, and it functions similarly to how the Ocarina of Time functioned. The Deku Tree states that a strange, cloaked man, blessed by the goddesses, gave the Flute to the Deku Tree nearly a decade ago. The man said that the flute would be an essential tool for a new hero to use in his battle against a rising evil. The Deku Tree states that he recognizes that flute as the one used by the goddesses themselves, the holy Flute of Salvation. The Deku Tree then teaches Link the song, “Minuet of the Forest” which allows Link to communicate with The Deku Tree at any time. Tyrannos Swamp: Exiting the lost Woods, you will find a whole bunch of new things you can do in Hyrule. Something that you’ll notice is that there are various towns, as well as various destroyed towns that look like the destroyed Sirise Village. When you’re done exploring, you can journey into the Tyrannos Swamp. This wet, damp place is home to the countless Tyrannians, a species of lizard warriors. These war-like creatures have a symbiotic relationship with the Zora’s who control the upper river. They are allied to Hyrule in the war, and have to battle Scythians. You learn a lot about their culture before going to visit Fyskias. However, it appears Fyskias has been kidnapped by the Scythians! The Tyrannians know where Fyskias is being held, but do not have enough men to attempt a rescue operation and hold off Scythian invaders at the same time. So, it’s up to you to rescue Fyskias! First, you try the direct approach. To get there you go through the city of Lolitha, a village that sits on the border between Hyrule and Scythian conquered land. Because of this, it is heavily fortified by Hylian knights. Also, you’ll come into contact with a red-haired girl sitting under a tree playing a flute. When you try to talk with her, she runs away. After this, you get close to the Scythian Fortress, which is closed on all directions. However, you notice a small entrance for a stream of water to enter. So, you go up the river and into the Zora’s domain, where you alert the Zora’s of King Fyskias’s plight. They want to help, but are fearful of Scythia’s wrath if they directly rescue Fyskias. Instead, they decide to help you sneak in. You hide away in a barrel as a Zora pilots you from atop it. As you close in on the Fortress, the Zora hops off while you silently float underneath the massive fortress. Scythian Fortress: The second dungeon is swarming with Scythian knights! Also, the puzzles are a bit more difficult and some contain a stealth element now. The Item hidden in this dungeon is the Bomb Bag, which comes stocked with 20 bombs. It is guarded by a powerful Darknut. You can also free some Hylian Knights, Tyrannians, and Gorons along your way. Finally, you arrive at Fyskias’s cell, only to be stopped by the massive darkhammer, wielding a massive mace. He is tough, but once defeated, you can free Fyskias. Fyskias is an old, fat, toad like creature with much paint and white pupils. The two of you start to leave, but, after you get your heart container, the masked, cloaked man who kidnapped Zelda appears! “I heard that there was a breech, but… I never would’ve thought… I could have sworn I killed you! No matter, this time I will make sure my blade draws your blood.” He sweeps in to attack while Link’s off guard, however, Epheus swoops in and takes on human form and blocks his blow. She screams at you to go, and you do as she says. Then, after parrying a few more blows, she reverts back into her fairy form to exit in the light portal before it disappears. Link and co. then appear back in the Tyrannos Swamp. Link, of course, is like, “wtf just happened?” Epheus, however, explains herself by saying that if Link died, she wouldn’t be free of her curse. This curse is what forces her to remain in fairy-form. She continues by explaining how utilizing her human form drains her of energy, and even now she is exhausted. Finally, she teaches Link the “Ballad of Ravens” which is a song that, at the cost of magical power, calls upon Epheus’s true power. This is required to solve various puzzles throughout the game. Next you get to talk with Fyskias. At first him, and the rest of the Tyrannians, praise you and thank you for your deeds. Fyskias then goes on to tell you that if you want to discover the truth behind the destruction of your village and the countless other deaths you must enter Scythia itself. However, you are too weak, and only with the Master Sword may you destroy the evil. This blade of evil’s bane is housed within the Temple of Salvation. The Temple is guarded from evil, however. The only person who can enter it is the one who holds the key. This sacred key is located atop Death Mountain in the Tower of Hera. Link then asks about the mysterious, yet powerful, masked man. Fyskias reveals that his name is Persona, and he seems to be the main enforcer of the Scythian King. In fact, he is the one who, on the Scythian Emperor’s orders, executed the Scythian senate. As for why the princess was abducted, it seems to be because she is a prophet like Fyskias. It appears that Scythia is intent on capturing anyone with a close connection to the goddesses… Ascending Death Mountain: Climbing up Death proves to be tough, but Link makes it eventually. He then arrives at the Goron mines. Now, the Gorons have had a pretty big part in recent stories, so they aren’t as important here. However, you do get to meet them and their culture. You can even become an honorary Goron! This is needed because the Tower of Hera is sealed off to everyone except Gorons. So, once you become Brother Link, you can enter the Tower and face your next great trial. The Tower of Hera: This old, ruined temple is falling apart. However, there is still great, stone architecture and statues. I really want it to be reminiscent of A Link to the Past. Plenty of cool-ass monsters occupy it as well. The treasure of this dungeon is the Hero’s Bow, which functions much like in past games except with more item combinations this time. It is guarded by the mini-boss Claydoll, which is simply a rag-doll like creature made of clay. It can clone itself and use various earthen attacks. The big boss of the Tower is the Golem of Hera, a massive, and I mean MASSIVE, creature of stone. Link is a bit taller than his foot. During the fight, the two dual on the very top of Death Mountain, so clouds surround them, and storm clouds no less. There are various ways to defeat him, but the main one is to climb upon him and stab him in his single eye. Your arrows can not reach his eye, as it is far, far away. Once he is defeated, a bright energy is released for him that is compacted into the Moon Pearl. With this, you can enter the Temple of Salvation. The Temple of Salvation: This temple is located close to Hyrule Castle. Entering it, you will see that it is very similar in appearance to the Temple of Time from OoT. Then, by placing the Moon Pearl on the pedestal, the wall in the back dissipates, revealing the room that houses the Master Sword. Link slowly walks up to the Sword. Epheus mentions that, “something doesn’t feel right…” Link disregards this, and places his hands upon the sword. He then attempts to pull the sword from the stone. Instantly, a dark, purplish gas erupts from the stone and a piercing voice says, “So, it appears that the great hero of the gods has come to seek his prize… Well, guess again. This is my temple now, and I will not allow you to steal the sword! Hahaha!” Purple electricity engulfs Link and then throws him off the sword. Epheus then states, “There is a great evil possessing this sword… I think I can give you a chance to exorcise this evil, though. Be prepared, the trial will be painful. Are you ready?” If you select Yes, then all of the sudden the screen will fade to black. There, the purple gas again engulfs the screen and then clears to show that Link is in a completely new world. “There. Now we are existing within the evil’s essence. Perhaps we can destroy it from the inside out?” This reveals the fourth dungeon, Essence of Evil. Essence of Evil: Remember the room that Link fought Dark Link in during OoT? Well, that’s the kind of atmosphere that exists in this strange dungeon. This dungeon focuses more on mind bending puzzles than on brute enemy strength. Enemies include Darknuts, Wizrobes, Phantoms, and Skull Kids. The goal is to find three artifacts and then return them to their corresponding tower. The entire dungeon is abstract, and at certain points you’ll find yourself upside down or walking on sideways stairs. It is chock full of optical illusions that Link must see through if he hopes to succeed. The secret item of the dungeon is the Haunted Mirror, which can create local, temporary portals for solving certain puzzles. Its mechanics are more fully explained within the item section. It is guarded by the mini-boss Dark Hand, a strange beast that can morph into various forms, including a giant octopus, a large bear shaped monster, and, after he looks into your mind, Zelda! Once you have completed all the puzzles, you get to face the master of the dungeon, Dark Link. This time Dark Link does not simply copy your attacks. However, he is still a very challenging boss fight. After this, you obtain the legendary Master Sword! New Developments: You appear back at the Sacred Forest with the Deku Tree, Fyskias, and even the King of Hyrule himself! First, the Deku Tree congratulates you on obtaining the Master Sword. However, the evil has corrupted it. The only way to return it to its original, unspoiled, holy state is by purging it with the power of the 5 Prophets. Fyskias is one, and 3 others are known, including Zelda. These three are being held in Scythia Castle, which is where Fyskias was going to be transferred to before being saved by Link. The other one is unknown. The only way to get into the castle is to launch a major attack to distract Scythia and draw Persona away from the castle. Then, Link can sneak in and free the prophets. Before this can be done, however, Link must find the unidentified prophet. After the conversation is over with, the Deku Tree gives Link a final tidbit of information: some of the people from his village survived! The hunt for survivors: Link returns to the destroyed Sirise village to search for clues. Using his brand new items, he unlocks a hidden bridge which leads you to new fields with horse tracks. Link quickly begins to follow these tracks and stumbles upon a Bulblin Fortress, where many people are locked up. So, you must take out the various Bulblins and Bulblin Snipers. After this, you get to duel with Chief Bulbo himself. You then find the survivors, Moriya, the Elder, and some other kids. Your Uncle did not make it, as well as many others. Apparently, the attacker was a terrible man with blood red eyes who wielded great magic. The villagers thought they were doomed, until Moriya began emitting a bright light that for some reason seemed to scare the man away. Ever sense then, Moriya has been terribly ill and has been fading in and out of a feverish sleep. Epheus is shocked, and says that she only has a little while to live! Your only chance is that maybe the Deku Tree can save her. You only have a limited amount of time to get her there, and if you fail it’s a game over. Once there, the Deku Tree uses the spirit water of the forest to revive her. Her and Link then get a touching reunion, awww…. Then, the Deku Tree reveals that Moriya is not Hylian, but a member of the holy Djuniati race. This holy race is said to be extremely close to the goddesses. That’s what happened to Moriya; just being in the same area as the Great Evil caused her to fall ill. She will remain sickly until she lives with the other Djuniatis on Irafio Isle. Also, maybe the Djuniati’s can use their great magic to locate the final prophet? Irafio Isle: To get to this isle, all you need to do is visit the Zora Fairy in Zora’s domain. Taking that, you can visit Irafio. Here, the small Djuniati race lives. They wear blindfolds, all the men are bold, and the women have shining blonde hair. All of them speak very wisely. Moriya gains strength from them and begins talking with them. She mentions how right it feels to be there with them. Then, they give Link an ancient relic that will indicate who the final prophet is. They also say that she is somewhere within Gerudo territory. The Hunt for the Prophet: You enter the Gerudo Desert and sneak into a Gerudo Fortress. Luckily, the Gerudos are meeting with a group of Scythians. So, you are able to take out a Scythian and steal his armor to disguise yourself. Inside, you get to meet all of the Gerudo women, and even do some SQ’s. Also, soon you will stumble upon the Gerudo you met at Lolitha City. Epheus says that the artifact indicates she’s the prophet! You begin to talk with her, and she recognizes you as the Hylian from Lolitha. Her name is Laceia, and she is one of Link’s four love interest. Then, a bunch of Gerudo guards come to capture her! The two of you escape, however. Then she explains how she has run away from her father. Her father, the Gerudo King, has married the Gerudo woman Umbra, who convinced him to join Scythia. All of the other Gerudo’s know that Scythia is evil, but will do what their king says. Umbra, however, has put some kind of spell over the King. Laceia wants to go and kill the Scythia King herself! However, you cannot let her do that, and you convince her to return to the Gerudo Fortress. Back at the fortress, Umbra scolds and insults her sharply while the king remains silent. Epheus then comments on how she can tell the king is under a spell. You go to break the news to Laceia, who is outraged. She decides that they need to throw a coup! Knowing their king was betrayed, most of the Gerudo’s join you, while others do not. They begin to fight, and you get to fight with some Gerudo’s then you find Umbra. You fight with her briefly. She is much quicker and more acrobatic than the other Gerudos! She retreats into the ancient Desert Temple, along with her followers and the Gerudo King. Laceia rushes in after her, so you must go in to protect the young prophet. Desert Temple: This is the first of the “hard” dungeons. It is very similar in architecture to the one in OoT. While investigating the temple, you do battle with Umbra’s followers. The items of the dungeon are the Force Skates, which are guarded by the mini-boss Balthazar, a giant, ferocious cobra. Finally, you hunt down Laceia, who is almost killed by Umbra! You jump in to save her. You fight with Umbra in a ferocious boss fight. Seeing that she is being defeated, Umbra commands the Gerudo King to attack you. This leads to another great fight. The King fights very much like Ganondorf did at TP’s end, with a large, albeit one handed blade. This outrages Umbra. She starts to go nuts, and turns into her original form! She is a witch like the Twinova! She then uses her magic to take control of the bones hidden deep beneath the Temple. She animates these bones into a giant, skeletal T-Rex. She hides within the skeleton and controls the T-Rex as a puppet. This is the true boss fight, and it is quite tough. To win, you must somehow incapacitate the skeleton to get a hit on Umbra. Only when she is defeated will the skeleton fall. She dissipates into darkness when it is over. Back at the Gerudo’s Fortress, Link is made a member of the Gerudo’s! The King also breaks all ties with Scythia, and the race goes back to doing what they do best, thieving and pirating, especially from Scythia. Also, Laceia implies romantic feelings for Link. Another thing to note is that there is a Scythian colony near the Gerudo Desert. Link can sneak into this village using the Scythian Armor. Inside, you can learn about all the propaganda for the war. Also, you learn from the villagers more of how the Emperor rose to power. Plan for Attack: Back to your boss. You talk a bit about rescuing the other prophets. The king appears again and explains the situation. He says it is time to save his daughter and finish this war. However, at this moment, Scythia is still stronger than Hyrule, Sheikah, Goron, and Tyrannos forces. So, the king wants you to convince the Hyskos, Zoras, and Yettis, who are already Hylian allies, to lend direct military support. This will create an army large enough to bring the battle to Scythia, and give you a chance to do battle with the Emperor. Anyway, you can decide when to visit each individual race. That’s right, YOU decide! Wahoo nonlinearity… Wild Plains: Meet with the Hyskos on the Wild Plains area and learn all about their culture. The Hyskos are very similar to the Rito tribe from WW in that they are birdlike, however they are much more tribal and warlike. They are in battle with the Black Gorons, nomadic warring brothers to the Gorons, who have taken over Mt. Valoo where the Hyskos once lived. To get them to join Hyrule, you must first conquer Mt. Valoo. However, the heat in there is so intense that you need the Goron Armor to enter. Mt. Valoo: Inside it is a blazing inferno filled with both fire monsters as well as Black Goron Soldiers. The hidden item is the Hammer, guarded by the Goron leader Garphant. The final boss of this hellish dungeon is the Black Goron Dragon: Darius. Anyway, after this, the Black Gorons will retreat to back to their old mines and the Hyskos will retake the Mountain. The Hyskos thank you for your services and pledge their allegiance to Hyrule! Snowpeak: The path to Snowpeak and Yetti Village is long and dangerous, and can only be completed through the use of the Yetti Skin, which allows resistance to extreme cold. At the Yetti Village, you try to convince the Yetti’s, but they’re like, “No, we’re too peaceful.” However, when you learn of how the Yetti Elder is holed up inside his Mansion, you know something is up. You go to investigate. Also, you learn that Yetti’s that speak of the Elder’s predicament are being abducted. There’s only one thing to do, enter the Mansion. Elder’s Manse: The place is swarming with monsters! You must fight your way through the massive mansion. Some spots require the Yetti Skin to move ice blocks and borrow under snow. Also, the abducted Yettis are locked away. The hidden item is the Death Rod, which allows you to sap out life of things and deal dark damage. It is guarded by the mini-boss Possessed Yetti Elder. After the battle, the elder is freed! You then must track down and defeat the one who possessed him, the Sage of Chaos, who teleports wildly around the room. Afterwards, you find solid proof that he was from Scythia. This makes the Yettis angry! They want revenge! So they lend their military to Hyrule. Zora’s Domain: The final race from whom you must garner support is the Zoras. So you visit them at Zora’s Domain and explain the situation. The King says he might consider it, if Link performs a… inconspicuous task for him. You see, there is a quarrel over the heir to the throne. The King is afraid that his brother, the Duke of the Upper Domain, is going to kidnap the King’s son. He asks Link to guard the young prince as he goes on a journey to negotiate with the Zola’s of the Sea. On the way, there’s an ambush! The Duke appears with his guard, but Link fights him off while on ships. It’s a pretty cool battle well Link hops from ship to ship, taking out Zora’s and defending his own ship. Link ends up arresting the Duke. After the negotiations, Link delivers the Duke to the King, but then… BAM! The Duke escapes and then attacks with his army. Zora’s domain erupts into civil war! During the chaos, however, the Zola’s attack. The giant Zolan king appears and ridicules the Zora’s for having a civil war during an international war. The Zolas decimate the Zora armies and take the royal family and the Duke captive! They then retreat to the Zolan temple, the Monument to the Sea. You need the Zora Mail to get there, however. Monument to the Sea: A brutally annoying Water Temple. Puzzles, of course, have to do with swimming and raising water levels. The enemies include Zolas and Scythian Knights. The hidden item is the Cane of Byrna, which creates a vortex in or out of water, which is guarded by the mini boss Zolan Berserker. This is a heavily armored Zolan that you battle in a room completely submerged in water, making it a difficult fight. The final boss is the king of the Zolas: Zolan Gigantus. His resemblance is like that of the Zora King in LTTP. You then find that both the King and the Duke are dead, and the young prince is now king. He decides that Scythia needs to be stopped at all cost. Invasion!: You return to Hyrule Castle to meet with the King of Hyrule. He asks you if you are ready. Select Yes to begin! You board a boat and cross the sea with a great alliance of Hylians, Gorons, Zora’s, Tyrannians, Hyskos, and Yettis do battle with a great number of Scythians, Bulblins, Zolas, and even some Black Gorons. This begins a vicious sea battle that Link participates in before sneaking into the castle. After that, you arrive on Land. You silently sneak through the various guard towers to arrive at Scythian Castle. You sneak in by using the Hookshot to scale its walls. Scythian Castle: You must now fight your way through Scythian Castle. When you first enter, it cuts to a scene of Persona talking to the Emperor. The camera is set in such a way that you cannot see the Emperor’s face. He tells Persona to go and fight in the battle. Persona opens up a portal and teleports away. Inside the castle, there are many Scythian guards, and the puzzles have to do with stealth. The hidden item is the Hookshot, and it is guarded by 3 Darknuts. After you defeat the final Darknut, the game again cuts to the Emperor. He is by himself, and he says, “Persona, my time is upon me. I have lived for so long… But now I must go, and leave such a burden upon your shoulders… Persona, forgive me…” or something along those lines. Link soon manages to reach the throne room of the castle and fights the Scythian King! This is the dungeon’s boss fight, and it is quite difficult, as the Scythian Emperor is quite the swordsman. Also, you may want to take a note on his physical features. His hair and beard are grayish-white, as he is obviously very old, but his nose and facial features are very Gerudoan. Once you defeat him, he collapses. Persona then appears. Upon seeing the Emperor’s condition, Persona screams in agony. However, the Emperor says not to be sad. He explains that the Hylian hero was meant to kill him in battle. The emperor has lived for many centuries, and it is time for him to meet the goddesses. He then says that he will reveal the reason for Persona’s existence. When the king was a young boy, more than half of his people were wiped out and a curse was placed upon them by the same evil that is devastating the world today. His rage and thirst for vengeance led the King to finding the magic needed to create Persona. He took the triforce of power from the Djuniati, and used it to create him. The triforce of power then appears on Persona’s hand. He says it is the destiny of Persona to destroy this evil with the help of the evil. That is why he exists. He then takes Persona’s mask off revealing a young Gerudo’s face. “You must avenge our people…” He says that the evil is hiding out on Effigy Island, and then dies. Persona is filled with rage and rushes off to this island. Meanwhile, you save the Prophets, and have a touching reunion with Zelda. The five prophets gather together at the Sacred Forest and purge the Master Sword, creating the Golden Sword. The Deku tree talks about how the evil was connected to Scythia, but not from it. He also recognizes the Emperor’s body as the same man who was blessed by the gods and gave the Deku Tree the Flute of Salvation. Link then searches for a way to enter Effigy Island, but no fairy will take him, as they are all afraid of it. They refer to it as the Isle of Death, and say that anyone who visits it winds up dead. So, Link finds that the only ones brave enough to go there are the Gerudo Pirates. Upon arriving, the Island is completely desolate and very creepy. In the middle is a massive tower. Link enters it… Spire of Apocalypse: Welcome to the second to last dungeon. This massive tower is very similar to the Shadow Temple, only creepier. Upon entering it, you find a small, crying little girl. She says she lost her doll, and begs Link to find it for her. Link, of course, accepts this request. This temple focuses more on brute enemy strength than on mind bending puzzles. It’s got Re-deads, Stalfos, Gibdos, the works. There are also all sorts of creepy things on the walls, like skeletons, blood, guts, rats eating the skeletons, bloods, and guts, and anything else you can think of. Not only that, but there are various tablets that hype up the ancient evil, talking about how it has existed sense the beginning, with only one goal: Destroy the goddesses and everything they created. Finally, you find the young girls doll, who all of the sudden becomes a corpse. Thousands of other dead bodies rise from the ground and join together into a giant monstrosity. This is the mini-boss Legion, the one who is many. Once you have defeated it, you get the hidden item of the dungeon: the Lens of Truth, a very helpful item indeed. You then continue up the tower. After a while Link enters a room, and the door behind him locks itself tight. Then, hundreds, and I mean hundreds of re-deads pop out of the ground, all drooling over the thought of Link’s flesh. Link’s basically like, “I’m doomed.” But then, out of nowhere, Persona appears! He quickly destroys the re-deads by warping around through portals he can open up. After this, the two of you enter the final room. A single man with bright red eyes stands awaiting you. “Welcome, great hero.” He says, “I’m sure you don’t remember, but we have met many times before. My name is Epiphany.” Epheus then makes a comment, “This is the man that destroyed your village? He… looks familiar.” When she says this, Epiphany replies, “Oh, hello there, Epheus. Still a fairy I see…” Persona then commences to battle him. He quickly warps around the room and strikes Epiphany. But, as he is warping, Epiphany reaches into the portal he makes, and yanks him out. Holding Persona up, Epiphany, with a smile, viciously assaults him, leaving him on the brink of death. “Now I shall put my plan into action!” Epiphany shouts out. He raises his hands to the sky. “Can you stop me, oh great hero of time? HAHAHA!” The entire tower crumbles and falls apart! Epheus quickly teleports you out of the hell house. You appear in Hyrule Fields. The sky turns blood red, and my favorite of all the boss fights begins. Epiphany summons the massive, four legged Behemoth, who starts a line drive for Hyrule Castle! Link quickly jumps upon Epona and chases after the absolutely HUGE Behemoth! As you chase him, Link must use the Lens of Truth to avoid the Phantom Riders that guard the Behemoth. Then, you must stun its four feet with arrows. Once its stunned, use the Hookshot to climb on top of it. Once there, you will see a giant demonic zombie attached to it. This is what you must attack to do damage! However, the zombie will cast vicious spells at you. Eventually, the Behemoth will start savagely shaking and you will be thrown off. However, this will not be a problem if you created a portal upon his back with the Haunted Mirror. If you do not kill it before it reaches Hyrule Castle, it’s a game over for you. Once you do kill it, the beast staggers onwards before finally collapsing hair-raisingly close to the castle. Epiphany then appears floating in the sky in front of the blood red moon. He says, “Now that will not do at all… No sir… I will fulfill my plans! You and your gods are doomed!” He begins charging a massive, devastating attack, which bolts down to the ground. However, right before it strikes, you and Epheus vanish. Ocean of Eternity: You appear in a strange, ethereal place, were swirling energy abounds. The ground is a strange, vast abyss that you somehow hover over. You wander around for a while, but can find nothing. Epheus is terrified that this is the place of Death. However, after a long time, the landscape begins to differ, and you stumble across Persona! He is lying on the floor, blood gushing out. He explains that he used the last of his power to teleport you to safety. However, now he thinks that he will die in this place, the moment in time before Hyrule was created, the Ocean of eternity. Epheus quickly morphs and begins trying to heal him. As she does so, Link, ever the explorer, begins walking off. As he does so, voices begin speaking to him. They say things like, “Without struggle, there is no purpose. Without pain, what can one accomplish?” and “There shall be a plan, and pain shall come…” not to mention the whole, “The pain, the evil, will be destroyed, and salvation will come.” After a while, however, Epheus calls for you. You rush back to see Persona in slightly better condition. He says that it will be a while before his powers are restored. Then, the voices speak to all three present. They say, “Oh, Great Hero, you face an evil unlike any other. If you do not interfere, he will reduce all creation to nothingness… However, to understand how to defeat this rebel, you must journey into the past…” A portal appears. You and Epheus enter, whilst Persona stays behind, as he is still paralyzed. Deep Past: “You are now entering the great and distant past… The beginning of the hero... and of the Legend.” This is the part which takes place before the Minish Cap (or OoT, it really doesn’t matter too much, I suppose), in the very, very, distant past. It sheds light on all the plot holes that still exist, and kind of ties up the entire Zelda series. You enter a war torn land filled with many tribes that all fight with each other. There’s Hylians, Gorons, Zoras, and Gerudos all fighting each other. You are accepted into the Hylian tribe thanks to your pointy ears. Inside, you meet the Hylian Chief, his daughter, the Lady Zelda, and her Shiekan bodyguard Epheus. Yup, Epheus! I shall refer to her as Past Epheus. She looks similar to the Epheus of the present, only with normal skin, blue eyes, and white hair. Fairy Epheus is like, “The memories… They are returning…” You then become acquainted with the Hylians, and soon accompany them into battle. In battle, you team up with the Hylians’ star knight, Matthias. He is extremely efficient in battle, and wields a large Trident. The Gerudo’s are trying to ravage Hylian territory in this battle. When fighting the Gerudos, you’ll notice that they are all men! Yup, no women soldiers. After the battle, Matthias reveals that he is Gerudo born, but brought up by the Hylians. He talks about how great the Hylians are, in that they believe all the races are sacred and worth respecting. They are the ones trying to bring about peace. Back at camp, Ambassadors from all the tribes have sent messages to the king. They are… seeking help? Apparently, a giant monster has begun devastating the lands. The Hylian Chief then calls upon the seer. The seer says, “It is just as was written… The one who defies the goddesses is here to destroy all creation… It is a beast that has existed sense the beginning of time, the opposite of the goddesses. It wishes only to kill the divine powers and reduce all that they have created to ash.” At these words, all the people grow stiff with fear. The seer goes on, “However, the prophecy also says that when the Beast attacks, the one wielding light will come to banish him!” After that, the people wait for their hero. During this time, you follow Past Epheus around. You see that… She’s in love with Matthias?! Woh, whooda thunk that one? Later, Link meets with Matthias, Zelda, the Hyrule Chief, and the Seer. Link is invited to this meeting by Zelda, who feels he must know what they will speak of. The Seer talks a bit, and then the Picori appear through a large gateway! They come bearing the Light Force (Tri-Force) as well as the Picori Sword, which they bestow upon…. Matthias. The part of the Light Matthias most resembles, that of power, is the one that is mainly brought out. Wisdom and Courage remain strong, yet stifled by the Power. The Picori then explain how to destroy the Beast. Matthias’s blade will be able to defeat the Beast’s body, but even that will not be able to destroy its heart. Only the direct power of the goddesses themselves can accomplish that deed. So, after he kills the beast, he must bring its heart too Zelda. Why? Because Zelda, and all the other female members of Hyrule’s royal family, is the only one close enough to the goddesses to channel their direct power. They refer to Zelda as the Maiden of the Gods. She, and only she, can destroy the Blasphemous Heart, the source of all evil, and bring salvation. Now, this plan remains classified to only those who were present. All of the other Hylians simply think that Matthias is the one who can kill the Beast. And so, Hyrule and its alliance with the other races go out to battle with the Great Beast. Before the battle, Epheus kisses Matthias goodbye and begs him to return alive. The Battlefield: You enter the great war zone. This place is basically a dungeon, but you do not actually notice this until you defeat the mini boss and get the hidden item. You can use a borrowed war horse during this as well. Hylians, Gorons, Zoras, and Gerudos spawn constantly fighting against Beast Spawns, Monsters, and Demons. The Beast Spawns are giant clouds of purple gas that constantly shift shapes, although this shape is mainly that of a Pig. You fight well, but are not as amazing as Matthias, who is duel wielding a Trident and his Picori Sword. Soon, you come to a point where you must have a one on one duel with the mini boss: A giant War Elephant. The trick to killing this massive monster is to fire arrows into him, and then climb up these arrows and strike the elephant in the head. Alternatively, you can simply continuously fire arrows and slash at his feet, although this takes a lot longer. Also, there are bulblins who are piloting and shooting arrows from atop the elephant. You might want to take them out with some arrows. Once you defeat him, a large chest falls off of the tower that was saddled to him. This chest contains the sacred Cane of Samaria, which allows you to create magical blocks needed for puzzles. Finally, you come upon the beast himself, who is a giant purple Cloud of Darkness. You enter it with Matthias. Inside, it is a swirling vortex of Beat Spawns. You must battle your way through. Finally, Matthias begins battling with the Beast’s true form, a large Warthog. As he does this, you support him by fighting various beast spawns. After a climatic fight, Matthias uses the Picori Sword to seal away the Beast’s body and power. All of the dark gas that is swirling around all of the sudden compresses into one space, and forms the Blasphemous Heart, which is represented as a purple, human heart, pumping away. Matthias picks up this heart. “Such amazing power…” The triforce of power glows on his hand at this moment. “If I could wield this power along with the power of light… I could do anything…” You try to stop him, but it is too late. He physically consumes the heart and absorbs its power. You, of course, are like, “WTF?!?!?!” But Matthias shrugs this off, saying he killed the beast and it is all over. As they return to Hyrule, they are met with great cheers and applause. “Hooray, he has saved us from darkness!” “All hail Matthias, the Hero of Men!” However, Zelda, the King, and Past Epheus are terrified at what he has done. The King tries to apprehend him, but his guards refuse. They respect this great hero more than the King. Past Epheus ask him why he did such a thing. Matthias replies, “I did it for the power. Don’t you see, Epheus? I am now the strongest being in the entire world! I can stop the wars! I can stop the fighting! I can bring peace! I will rule this world, and you will be my Queen.” He holds out a hand for Epheus, who burst into tears. “What have you become? What you are saying is evil! You will unify the lands through fighting, more death than ever before! I… I cannot… I do not love you anymore.” This really, really makes Matthias angry. He calls upon great magic and the ground trembles. “You dare defy me? Me, the GOD of this new world?” A great lightning bolt falls from the sky and strikes Epheus. After this, Matthias calms down and begins to walk away. He mutters under his breath, “It seems, in the end, Epheus, that I was not able to kill you after all.” A fairy, dark purple in color, appears, and slowly floats away. The Epheus from the future then states, “I… I remember now! He… Matthias… my love… cursed me.” She then explains how afterwards the Deku tree took her in and revealed to her that the only way to break the curse was to fall in love. However, after Matthias’s betrayal, she found herself never even trusting anyone… Until she met Link .Hunt for Matthias: You then try to apprehend Matthias. However, he eludes capture and races off to Hyrule Castle. He breaks in and steals a single prophecy! Then, the Seer, in an ominous voice, tells you what was written on that prophecy. It was a very large one, but the gist of it was this: A Gerudo Male must have a part in the destruction of the Beast. The seer, of course, had believed this was referring to Matthias as the chosen one, sense he was of Gerudo descent. However, sense Matthias had not killed the beast; Matthias must believe that this is referring to a Gerudo killing him. So, Matthias must be attacking the Gerudos! Link and Zelda hastily rush off to the Gerudo’s village. There, they are met with a gruesome scene. Dead Gerudos lie across the village. They quickly find Matthias. “Curses!” He shouts, “I suppose I do not have enough time to kill them all… I will have to settle for this!” With really flashy and fancy magic, Matthias curses the entire tribe. Only every one hundred years shall a male be born from the Gerudos. Link then engages Matthias in battle. Now, this is the real boss battle for the Battlefield dungeon. Matthias uses all sorts of crazy magic. After Link weakens him, Zelda and the Picori combine their forces to seal Matthias’s essence in the Triforce of Power itself…. And after this is done, the screen fades to black. You hear Matthias’s voice begin explaining various events. He does this with a ton of sarcasm, jeering, and bragging, of course, but explains it nonetheless. First, he talks about how a single Gerudo Male survived his onslaught, the young Gerudo known as Callitugus. Callitugus was enraged by what had happened, and scoured the globe for ways to kill Matthias. M atthias goes on to explain how his legend evolved. Soon, the Hero of Man became a full-blooded Hylian with pointy ears and blonde hair. Then, after the Hero of Time appeared, his image was clothed with the same green clothes. Matthias had been forgotten, although perhaps that was for the best. He goes on to explain how he existed deep within the triforce of power. Over time, his motives evolved from ruling creation to the motives of the Beast: Destroy the World. He searched for the right one to control, and found it within the Gerudo King known as Ganondorf. Ganondorf, whose people had been cursed to bear males every 100 years, and whose land was a cursed desert where nothing ever grew, found himself envying the nation of Hyrule, who was obviously favored by the gods. His jealousy twisted him, and Ganondorf became a man even more sinister than Matthias. When Ganondorf was endowed with the Triforce of Power, the Beast’s power began to corrupt him. However, its true power was simply unable to be used in this new host. Slowly, Ganondorf began to take on the Beast’s pig-like appearance, and when Ganondorf obtained Matthias’s old trident, this transformation was solidified into that of the Beast’s. Then, after the events of LoZ take place, and Ganon has truly been killed, the triforce of power reincarnates itself. During its recreation, Matthias escapes. He takes on a new name to signify his new existence: Epiphany. He begins killing to help regain his strength. Meanwhile, Callitugus, who had survived by pleading to Din, the goddess of power, goes to the Djuniati. They have received the newly born triforce, and bestow it to Callitugus, who is obviously protected by Din. Using its power, Callitugus locates the soul of a Picori, that of Vaati, and places it in a newborn Gerudo baby boy. This creates Persona, whose Gerudo blood wields Picori magic, making him extremely powerful. Not only that, but Callitugus passes the Triforce of Power onto Persona. Using Persona, Callitugus takes over Scythia, and uses the giant nation to scour the world for any traces of the evil Epiphany. Persona is Power, Zelda is Wisdom, and Link is courage. Zelda can destroy the Blasphemous heart, Persona can steal away Epiphany’s light force and control the Triforce with his Picori magic, and Link, as the chosen Hero, is the only one who can destroy Epiphany’s body with the Master Sword. Only together do they stand a chance against the Great Beast who defied the gods, Epiphany. Preparation: Link and Epheus return to the Ocean of Eternity, where they meet up and explain the situation to Persona. Then, two new portals appear beside the one that leads into the Deep Past. One leads to the time right before Epiphany took control of Hyrule and the other to Post-Apocalyptic Hyrule. You can enter the former to make preparations for the final battle, and the latter for when you are ready to end this once and for all. Once you take the latter, you appear in a desolate, deserted, and destroyed Hyrule, with only a massive, magnificent castle in the middle. Soon, however, you meet up with a small band of survivors who are planning a revolt. They are lead by Princess Zelda. You enlighten Zelda on what you learned in the past. Then, you conjure up a plan: The small army of rebels will lay siege to Epiphany’s castle, while Zelda, Persona, and Link sneak in. Epiphany’s Castle: You think you snuck in unnoticed, but, of course, Epiphany knows about your plans, and greets you. Persona and Zelda then split up with you to protect Zelda. Link will draw Epiphany’s attention while Persona holds Zelda in a different dimension, waiting for the coast to be clear. So, Link battles his way through the castle, and it is one giant, brutal dungeon. Quite possibly the largest dungeon of any Zelda game thus far, the Castle has many different parts. Some parts are fiery and hellish; others are green and evil, and deal damage to you just from the stifling evil. There are also four mini bosses: Phantom Zelda, Phantom Epheus, Phantom Persona, and Phantom Ganondorf. Each fights similarly to how the real one fights. Zelda fights like how she did in TP, only minus the tennis, with more swordplay and Shadow Arrows, the antithesis of Light Arrows. Phantom Epheus wields Shiekan daggers and is insanely fast. She also uses a Hookshot and Deku Nuts to blind you. Phantom Persona can warp around the room and fights with his duel blades. Phantom Ganondorf fights much like in TP, only much more difficult of a fight and he also can shoot dark, concussive, energy blasts. After you have fought through these tremendous trials, you meet up with Zelda and Persona. All that’s left is to fight Epiphany. The Final Battle: You enter a dark room. Epiphany appears. “So… It is time…” “Epiphany… It is over.” Zelda states. “Over? That is oh so correct, my dear princess. And after I destroy you, my true goals will be accomplished, and I will kill the goddesses themselves! The end of all things has come; I will destroy the evils of this world!” “You are the only evil in this world!” Persona shouts. “Me? No, don’t you see? All that creation has accomplished is suffering. Nothingness… That is the purist state of life. Behold, today is the day even ash will be burnt!” After he says this, he launches himself at you. This is the first stage of the fight, where he fights you, Zelda, and Persona. Zelda will fire her light arrows, and Persona will help you fight Epiphany, who fights with magic and his bear fist. Even with this help, though, this fight is nothing to laugh at. After you defeat him in this first stage, he transforms into a giant pig like form. A giant blast of lightning falls from the sky, striking Persona. Zelda quickly sets to starting to heal Persona, so you alone against this massive beast. This leads to a brutal battle against the giant pig. Once you manage to bring him down, however, the pig transforms into a giant, purple, swirling vortex of gas. It collapses onto Link, and all of the sudden he is in a different location. It is a dark, black place, where Epiphany is standing alone. This time he wields a trident, and duels Link one-on-one. Epiphany is extremely fast and powerful, but does not use any magic in this fight. After you defeat him, the world around you shatters, and you appear back on Hyrule field. Epiphany is now thoroughly vexed, and psychically holds Link in the air. “I grow tired. I shall end your pitiful existence.” He pulls out a knife and throws it at your throat. However, the knife is batted away by a Light Arrow! Zelda and Persona appear to protect Link. Now Epiphany is mad, and a black, upside down triforce appears upon his hand. Persona knows it’s time to use the power of the Picori to sap away the Light Force within him. However, Epiphany morphs into The Cloud of Darkness, a massive, many faced beast. This is an extremely tough battle, and you have to protect Persona while he saps away the Light Force. After you protect him for long enough, Epiphany appears, and starts spazzing out. “No… NO!” He burst into a giant, massive monster, with six different heads. It is HUGE, and towers above the castle. During this phase, Persona warps you to each individual head to do battle with it. After all are destroyed, the entire monster begins exploding and falling to the ground. Out of the wreckage comes Epiphany. “You… Cannot… Defeat ME!” He screams, and then launches himself at you. However, Link blocks the blow, and very acrobatically stabs Epiphany in the heart with his Master Sword. The triforce on the three’s hands glow, and Persona summons the triforce itself, which burns away Epiphany’s existence. All that remains is the blasphemous heart, which Zelda destroys by summoning the goddesses themselves, who shoot holly lightning down upon the ground. The Ending: The goddesses descend upon the world and revive all that Epiphany destroyed. The Gerudos, Hylians, Scythians, and all the other races come together as the Triforce descends upon the world. The land becomes a new golden land, and the races become one. Blah, blah, blah, cheesy cheesy. The rest of the ending has to do with which love SQ you completed. If you completed Moriya’s, you go back to live with her on Irafio Island. If you completed Laceia’s SQ, you live with her in Sirise Village. If you completed Zelda’s you go on to become King of Hyrule. And finally, if you completed Epheus, Epheus breaks the curse and becomes real again before returning to her own time. However, she tells Link to come and visit whenever he wants. Shut up I know its cheesy as crap! TP definitely had the right idea with the Hidden Skills. So, of course, these skills return. Also, to allow more creativity in combat, there are many different swords, shields and armors that are usable. These also allow for more SQ’s and give rupees a bigger role. Also, there are 4 basic fighting styles. The normal sword/shield combo, Duel Wielding weapons, 2-handed swords like Biggoron’s Sword from OoT, and a Spear/shield combo which is similar to the sword/shield combo, only slower, clumsier, and stronger. Now, this is NOT to make Zelda more RPG-ish, but simply to add more spark to battles. Also, while the enemies in the game are much tougher and higher in quantity, you have a lot more weapons at your disposal to combat them. Swords:
Shields:
I really liked the whole item combination thing from TP, and I think that can really be played off of. In this game, there are lots of item combos that can be discovered and played around with. Hero’s Bow: The traditional bow and arrow! This is the item with the most combinations. Many of these combos are extremely useful in combat situations, while others are good for solving puzzles. Anyway, here are the combinations so far: Fire Arrows: Can be used to light torches and stuff like that. Cost Magic. (Bow + Din’s Fire) Ice Arrows: Can be used to put out fires and freeze things. Cost Magic. (Bow + Nayru’s Love) Holy Arrows: Very powerful, destroys evil foes in one hit. Costs lots of Magic. (Bow + all 3 spells) Bomb Arrows: Strongest of all arrows, use it to blow up things from afar. (Bow + Bombs) Web Arrows: Entangles your target in a web. Useful when fighting lots of enemies. (Bow + Spider’s Web) Glue Arrows: Slows down a foe’s movements dramatically. (Bow + Honey) Cursed Arrows: Pacifies a foe. Big magic cost. (Bow + Poe Soul) Poison Arrows: Powerful and venomous, yet requires magic. (Bow + Death Rod) Sniper Arrows: Snipe down foe’s from extreme distances. (Bow + Hawkeye) Also, there are two Quiver upgrades, which allow you to carry a max of 99 arrows. Slingshot: The slingshot has neither the range nor the power of the bow, yet it makes up for this with various combat applications. It allows for great creativity and is useful for the hoards of tough enemies. Here are the various objects you can fire from it. Stones: Strongest missile. Very good against armored foes. Deku Seeds: Slightly flash when they hit the foe, dazing them. Bait: Allows you to shoot bait from afar, allowing you to solve certain puzzles. Magical Seeds: Puts foe to sleep. Sleeping foes awake easily with noise or when struck by an object. Skull Pills: You get these strange missiles by killing Skull Kids. They weaken both foe’s power and speed. Bee: Yup, you can shoot bees at enemies! It’s basically just a homing missile. Other Non-magical items: These are the various other items that you can find in dungeons or through SQ’s. Boomerang: Can be upgraded to the Razorrang, which deals more damage. Also, combine with Farore’s Wind to create the Gale Boomerang, although it requires miniscule magic energy. Hookshot: The good ‘ole Hookshot! You will also be able to get an extra Hookshot to form the Double Hookshot. This is very useful for traveling across abysses. Hammer: It can be upgraded into the Skull Hammer to deal extra damage, but that’s about it. Force Skates: These are basically the new version of the Spinner. I liked the idea of the spinner, but “Spinner” was just kind of stupid. So the Force skates are a “cooler” version of the Spinner, which allow you to travel across rails of light. Pouch: This small pouch can hold many different items. It holds all of the ammo for the slingshot (save the bee, which is kept in a bottle), as well as Deku Nuts and Deku Sticks (which are the same as in OoT), apples (which can be used as bait or to heal a couple of hearts), Smoke Pellets (which create smoke to disorient enemies), and Hyoi Pears (which function as they did in WW). Bombs: The bomb bag contains many different bombs, and functions like the Pouch. There are Bombs, which are the same old same old. Water Bombs, which can be used underwater, of course. Bombchu, which go straight and can be controlled. Bomblings, which are simply fun to play with and can explode multiple times and bounce off of stuff. Bomb Powder, which functions as a basic mine. Magical bombs, which function as detpacks that you can detonate at any time by pressing the button you used to plant one. Sticky Bombs, which can be thrown great distances and latch onto enemies before exploding. And, finally, Omega Bombs, which unleash massive explosions. Iron Boots: Yup, nothing much to say here. They allow you to sink, and they’re magnetic of course… That’s about it. Lantern: In this game, the lantern requires magic to ignite things instead of Oil. It’s useful for lighting up dark places, clearing out poisonous fog, and igniting torches. Fishing Rod: Pretty much the exact same as in TP. Catch your fish and store them in books. Maybe catch a heart piece? Shovel: Allows you to dig a shallow hole. This can bring out rupees, hearts, or anything else, basically. It is also a big part of certain puzzles. Hawkeye: Your basic telescope. Also, combine it with the Bow to form Sniper Arrows! Tome: This ancient tome allows you to translate ancient Hylian tablets from before the flood. Very useful for certain puzzles. Spells: The spells of Din’s Fire, Nayru’s love, and Farore’s wind all make returns in this game. Each one has four different uses. I got this idea from someone else on this forum (can't remember who) but they had different techniques. But yeah, someone else came up with it first. Din’s Fire: 1.The same technique as in OoT, this allows you to light multiple torches simultaneously. 2. When you use Din’s Fire on targeted enemies, you toss a fireball at them. This is a homing missile. 3. You can combine Din’s fire with the Bow to create Fire Arrows. 4. When there are enemies around, but you do not have any of them targeted, you can activate Din’s Fire to create a massive tornado of fire around Link. Nayru’s Love: 1. Use Nayru’s Love when no enemies are around to convert your Magic into Health. 2. When you use Nayru’s Love on a targeted enemy, Link instantly freezes them. 3. You can combine Nayru’s love with the Bow to create Ice Arrows. 4. When you use Nayru’s Love when enemies are around, yet you are not targeting one, you encase Link in Icy Armor that grants him extra defense for a while. Farore’s Wind: 1. When no enemies are around and you’re in a dungeon, use this to create a dungeon warp. 2. Using Farore’s Wind on a targeted enemy will allow you to knock the enemy back with a strong gust of wind. 3. You can combine Farore’s Wind with the Boomerang to create the Gale Boomerang. 4. When you attempt to combine Farore’s Wind with the bow, Farore’s wind will combine with it, but Nayru’s Love and Din’s Fire will also combine with it to create Holy Arrows. Other Magical Items: There are plenty of magic items in this game, giving magic power a much higher importance. Dominion Rod: You obtain this through a mini-dungeon. It allows you to take control of some statues. Unlike previous games, Link can do this with lots of statues and even some NPC’s, allowing for very interesting puzzle solving and such. Death Rod: This rod saps life out of things, such as plants and animals, as well as doing dark damage to enemies. It has many different applications. Eternity Rod: This is a rod you can obtain towards the end of the game that’s mainly just for fun. It allows you to slow time to a crawl. Cane of Byrna: This cane can be used in or out of water. It can be used to create a gravitational vortex, or a whirlpool. Either way, the effect is the same. It pulls anything within its range into it. Not only is it useful for certain puzzles, it also allows you to play with your enemies a bit. Cane of Samaria: This cane can create magical blocks useful for all sorts of things. The applications of it are pretty obvious. Cane of Lorelei: This cane is similar to the Eternity Rod in that it’s just for fun in combat. This cane is very difficult to obtain, but is extremely powerful. At the cost of all your remaining magic power, it unleashes a super flashy magic attack that clears the screen of all enemies. Magic Staff: This useful staff will teleport you to various locations throughout the world map. Terra Medallion: Yup, medallions from LTTP make a return! Each one unleashes a powerful magic attack at the cost of lots of Magic Power. Very useful against those rooms filled with 3 Darknuts. The terra Medallion shakes the screen and turns all foes in the room to stone. This last for a while, although you cannot damage stone foes. Excalibur Medallion: This medallion summons an insane amount of vicious winds which slice n’ dice enemies. It deals great damage, and afterwards the enemies are left in a confused state where they may attack each other. Bombos Medallion: This very powerful Medallion summons a massive phoenix to assist you in battle. The Phoenix stays for a while before returning to rest. It is the only way to beat a secret boss, as well as being very powerful against enemies. Haunted Mirror: This small mirror allows you to create small portals which you can warp to by using the Haunted Mirror again. These portals can only be used in the same room and disappear over time. However, it still allows for some very unique puzzles. Lens of Truth: This item is basically identical to what it was in OoT, so no changes there. It slowly saps your magic while you look through it, but also reveals hidden objects. Flute of Salvation: This is the new Ocarina of Time. Given to you by the Deku Tree, it allows you to play magical songs with many different effects. Here are the songs:
Also, I made some Minish Cap style sprites to kinda show what the characters would look like... if they were in 2D! Link: Here's Link in all his different armor, and with a Hylian Shield. ![]() Other Chars: And here's Epheus, Moriya, Laceia, Zelda, and Fairy Epheus. ![]() So, that's all I've got so far. All comments are appreciated. Criticism or suggestions, let me have it. I especially want to know if anything in the story contradicts the timeline or has any plot holes. Also, I won't get mad at you if you didn't read it all ![]() |

...Wow.
Whoa. This is a seriously detailed project. My favorite part is that it really does fit nicely into the canon, assuming MC was before OoT. All of the dungeon ideas are great, but there's a few problems I have.
For the first thing, the whole thing introduces a huge wealth of new material that is so integral to the canon that it really seems like it one-ups the whole series and changes a bunch of it. The setting, as well, introduces so much that it feels like a different Hyrule. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it's all handled really well. It's pretty clear, though, that this would have to take place significantly after the rest of the series. Not only has Hyrule been repopulated from its desolate state in LttP, but all of the major areas have been totally remapped and contain a huge number of new tribes and political units. Consequently, it's hard to really connect it with the rest of the series, even though none of it is in direct contradiction. Another minor complaint is the whole "Matthias=Epiphany=Ganon" thing. The beast form of Ganondorf that is continually reincarnated is usually calld Ganon, so calling him Epiphany for absolutely no reason is just kind of annoying. Another little problem is with the Deep Past- while possible, it's highly unlikely that the Gerudo were fighting against the Hylians in the Hyrulean Civil War. Judging by the fact that Ganondorf had the King's full trust in OoT, it's safe to assume that the Gerudo and Hylians weren't fighting each other. In all likelihood, the Hylians were likely fighting against the Sheikah, who we know were mostly wiped out in the HCW. The Kokiri were also likely antagonists, as the large number of Stalchildren at night in OoT suggest that many Kokiri left the forest before OoT. There's also the Mount Valoo thing, which I suppose could work, except that it is heavily implied in WW that Dragon Roost Island is the tip of Death Mountain, especially by the similar layouts of the Fire Temple and Dragon Roost Cavern. Just a minor frustration. Otherwise, this is an amazing effort. The drama between Epheus, Matthias, Persona, and all of those characters (who I admit I can't fully keep track of due to their changing names all the time) is great. Epiphany's raging zeal was also entertaining to read- I liked the "even the ash shall burn" bit. My favorite part, however, is how you've used all the items in exciting ways. While the light-rail skate things that replace the Spinner are very similar, I have no doubts that this will include many more opportunities to use it. The Haunted Mirror is a cool variation of the gun in Portal, and the timed duration of the portals make for a number of puzzles. As for weapons, I see you've really put a lot of effort into offering a wide selection. Oddly enough, we had the same ideas for a bunch of the weapons (see the project in my sig)- the Zora Rapier's ice effect, the Goron Blade, Hylian Spear, and even the Deku Edge in a way (although I called it the Deku Katana.) However, I'm a bit disappointed that there's a robust selection of weapons, yet little information on the new hidden skills and combat mechanics. When there's this much information of the tools, there should be a similarly robust description of the job. You should also either describe a way to quickly manage weapon swapping, or limit the number of weapons you can choose from at a time. Anyway, this is just amazing. I look forward to reading more! |

I suppose I did get carried away though... I probably need to downplay the changes... Hmm... Quote:
. So it seemed like there was nothing left to do with him except get him sealed again. And then there was the whole thing with the opening of Minish Cap, where the Hero of Man defeated a Pig-Beast, Ganon like creature. But this happened before OoT (even if OoT came before Minish Cap), so I didn't know what to do... I probably made it too convoluted.Quote:

Once again, thank you for actually reading it! |

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of Salvation
I don't mean to sound caustic, but paragraphs are in right now.
That aside, I really like this idea. Admittedly, I kind of skimmed most of it, but that's mainly due to the aforementioned paragraph issue. My favorite part of the whole deal was the history lesson that we're apparently treated to toward the end of the game. You've managed to tie several of the games together in a way that actually works, and for that I commend you. Excellent work, momento.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of Salvation
^ Agreed, this is fantastic. The characters are fleshed out, you have countless possibilities in items, you have innovative boss battles, and above all, the plot works as a Zelda game. It sounds and feels dark and mature. The way you told the story of how Ganon came to be is phenomenal as well. I salute you.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of Salvation
I'm impressed. You wanna go and make that? Use the Alice program or Game Maker .
