Zelda III

Should Nintendo stop making prequels to LOZ, and make a Legend of Zelda III and then start making a simple "the next game will come after the last game made in the timeline" game-making strategy (after they fill in the holes of the mess they already have of course)

Re: Zelda III

Honestly that wouldnt be a bad idea, however there would have to be a lot more games in order to fill in all the holes, before thay could just continue going in chronological order.

Re: Zelda III

Given all the new graphics and whatnot, it seems like a step back to do such a thing.

Re: Zelda III

I think they should probably fill in the timeline gaps, but I imagine that might take a while, and it might not even work. Still if they can pull that off, that would be AWESOME!

Re: Zelda III

I don't really mind when the next game is set (though I would love it to take place in the wind waker universe) but it shouldn't be called Zelda III. It would just be confusing, and only the timeline zelda nerds/fans would understand the title.

It would be star wars all over again.

Re: Zelda III

I don't ever want them to start releasing games in chronological order, except for those few sequel games. It would ruin the fun in theorizing.

Re: Zelda III

Yes, they should. I wouldn't mind returning to the style of AoL (ouch!! for some of you), but of course with better graphics(probably 2.5d), so AoL won't feel left out. They should borrow some of the hidden skills and techniques from TP, such as the helm splitter, ending blow, jump strike, etc. and some new ones.

Re: Zelda III

Wasn't A Link to the Past referred to as Zelda III for a long while before it was out?

It's funny how all of the poll options are some kind of "yes" to this.

Re: Zelda III

It would be sort of like megaman 9 and I think it would be a great idea to do it.

Re: Zelda III

Just cause it'sm Zelda III, doesn't mean they can't use modernized graphics.

The Fallout series is a testiment to that

Re: Zelda III

Boy, a colossal thread to end all major future zelda/theorist brawl threads. Good job. Yes, it would be great to get another Zelda title. Yes, it would be great if it could just explain the whole timeline, within it's own story. Not a fail intro like TWW.

or possibly DSi ware?

Personally I think 8bit gaming should come back. That's why I would push for a Zelda III. It seems like the right time. It could simply be wiiware, it doesnt have to be too timeline based, but as long as its 8bit.

Zelda Wii is on the Adult timeline. When Link placed the Mastersword Back in the pedestal (After OOT) It returned with him to the child timeline. That's why the spirit of the Mastersword (Fairy Girl) is all that remains.

Re: Zelda III

The first 2 were awesome so of course if they picked up where they left off it would be great!
I don't actually look at the games as being any sort of canon though. I take each one as its own world and don't try to make it all fit together. Unless they are actually sequels of each other like, LoZ and AoL or the oracles series, or OoT and MM. I don't try to place them in chronological order. Its full of contradictions if you do it like that.
