Cool stealth in zelda

i have thought for a while now that zelda would be alot more fun with some stealth gameplay elements much like metal gear solid just not as important as it is in that game like at least being able to crouch and when the enemy loses sight of you they dont just automatically know where you are i think it would make gameplay alot more exhilarating like do you guys remember when you were playing the hidden village segment of tp and you could kind of sneak past the moblins there but as soon as they seen you they never lost sight of you again that was awesome except the last part of what i said about it anyway i think you get the idea so gimme you're thoughts

Re: stealth in zelda

There was a section of stealth gameplay in the Wind Waker, when you had to first enter the Forsaken Fortress, as well as Ocarina of Time when you had to get through the Sacred Meadows as an adult. It's fun in bits and pieces, however it just wouldn't seem right if there was an entire Zelda game based around it. It's an interesting concept, but IMO it wouldn't fit too well in a Zelda game as a main gameplay mechanic.

Interesting idea though.

Re: stealth in zelda

Oh no, didn't we already have enough of that? Likey nearly every Zelda game after Ocarina of Time did have some sort of stealth section. I mean, have you played Phantom Hourglass? The main dungeon there was all about stealth and it wasn't too much fun. But looks like it could be fun for you... I'm okay with some small stealth sections like in Ocarina of Time (the castle garden, Sacred Meadow and the Gerudo Fortress), but overall I'm much happier without it.

And like said, we already have more than enough of it. I'm quite surprised, that you have missed that. Ocarina of Time had like three stealth sections, Majora's Mask had the Pirates' Fortress, Oracle of Ages, Four Swords Adventures and The Minish Cap all had some sort of castle, Oracle of Seasons had the Subrosian stealth games, The Wind Waker had the Forsaken Fortress and the main dungeon in Phantom Hourglass was entirely built around stealth action. You want stealth in Zelda? Go play one of those games.

Re: stealth in zelda

omg i cant believe i forgot about all those moment lol i feel like an idiot and you are correct in saying the stealth in phantom hourglass sucked because i borrowed PH from my friend and i hated having to go through those stealth sections over and over again it was crap and i just thought i'd say this the crawling in wind waker was awesome i loved crawling through the tall grass and that was what i was meaning bring back a mechanic such as that i didint mean stealth "sections" i meant just a bit of stealth overall as i thought it was fun

Re: stealth in zelda

Majora's mask also had the Deku Palace stealth section. I do like the stealth sections, they just didn't work in PH because you had to do it all the time, going through the same temple... Both Gerudo parts were very fun though.

Yeah, when stealth becomes a major part of gameplay it doesn't feel right. The temple pretty much sucked all the fun out of PH for me, not just because of the stealth but also the time limit and the repetition.

Ah, I think I get it. Like in Twilight Princess, where you can choose, if you take enemies out silently or fight them the hard way? Yeah, I think, that could be fun. As long as there's no annoying "avoid the invincible guards"-section, I'm fine with it.

Stealh was not really a major part of gameplay (it played a bigger role than ever in the series, but not a major part), and I think it could be cool, if it was not so repetitive... The time limit also bugs me (I hate time limits)...

I'm OK with invincible enemies, if the stealth section is well made (Forsaken Fortress invasion was very nice)...

Re: stealth in zelda

I remember when you had to be quite stealth visiting Zelda in OoT. I was always one for just running in without thinking back then so it took me a while to get past the guards in the field nevermind the ones in the garden xD

Haha I remember having no idea what to do at the field. I pretty much just tried different routes through trial and error, seeing how far I could get before I got bagged. When I finally made it to Talon, I realized I couldn't do anything and had to be brought back all the way to the entrance....where Malon finally gave me the egg. Darn it, why couldn't she give it to me the first time I talked to her?!?

Haha yeah, you sometimes have to talk to people three times over just to make sure you've got everything out of them!

Re: stealth in zelda

Not too much stealth. I like it how they incorporated it in TWW, so even if we saw like that much or a little bit more in the next Zelda I'de be down.

Re: stealth in zelda

I think that it MIGHT be fun, depending on how serious they were about the stealthy parts. Mostly, I'd just like to see bits and pieces.

Re: stealth in zelda

like i said having stealth elements like in wind waker when you are in a barrel infiltrating forsaken fortress i found that kind of annoying but kinda funny i like to move just a little when a moblin was looking at me to watch him freak out lol but yeah my favourite stealth element was defenately the crawl which i thought was awesome

Link isn't an assassin. And Zelda isn't a platforming game. (well, as compared to games like Assassin's Creed)

Re: stealth in zelda

I never like the stealth sections of Zelda. I loathe the Forsaken Fortress because of that. Small...or optional stealth is okay though. I enjoy them as minigames. I used to sneak into the castle in OoT just for the heck of it.

Re: stealth in zelda

Stealth is good if it's only used for parts of the game; it shouldn't be centred around it.

Funny... I loathed the forsaken fortress the first time around, but the sense of accomplishment after getting to the top was amazing. It's funny how many people bash WW for being so easy, when the forsaken fortess was quite a challenge.

If stealth sections add challenge, they should be included, properly (like in WW, not like the mess in PH. Stupid phantoms.)

Re: stealth in zelda

Oh god no, please.
It's a wonder I ever beat WW.
I got so mad at the stealth parts I would stop playing for days. ~_~
What the hell is wrong with link? He could use the deku sticks to fight the moblins in the towers... why didn't he just take the damn thing with him?

Why did he drop is every time he got hit? The doesn't happen with his swords... fffuuuuuuu

STEALTHFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuu ....

EDIT- (What's going on?) I can't format my post for some reason... I try to make paragraphs but when I click save changes it just turns it into a clump of text... ~_~
EDIT2- Weird... It's working fine now. I tried it a three times... third times a charm?
