a HUGE battle?

Towards the end of the game, I think there should be a gigantic battle. You're heading to Hyrule Castle or wherever you're going, and you run into 100 or so enemies. Throw in a few friendly NPC's and you've got a war. You'd have to be smart to win. This could work, depending on how awesome Link is in the next game. It'd be interesting, mostly because Link never fights more than 10 enemies at a time in most games.
Thoughts?

You're thinking of making Zelda a high fantasy game, kind of like Lord of the Rings.

Many fans want this to happen. Maybe if there's a Zelda set in Adventure of Link's expanded map of Hyrule, then stuff like this could happen. I'd definitely be down.

Re: a HUGE battle?

lol me and my friend always talk about an idea such as this and i think it would be an awesome idea because the fighting in zelda is often exhilerating the problem is that the enemies dont put up much of a fight and there often isn't alot of them in one fight so i thought this would be a really fun idea so yeh nice thread

I would have liked to see more of these in Twilight Princess, the horseback combat was barely used, which was a shame because it was a really good system.

I can't imagine that it would be very fun with Wii Motion Plus. It would get tiring, at least.

This sounds pretty cool to me, and it would be especially awesome if it made a major impact in the game's history.

No, not really. I just think that most of the fighting is fairly bland, because you only face around 4 or 5 weak enemies max in most 3D Zeldas, and it's high time they make fighting somewhat challenging. Fighting 100 enemies with no break could be hard.
It doesn't have to be a game with Wii motion plus, either. And if it is, have less enemies or something. But a part of the game when you're swarmed by enemies would be awesome. You could use all sorts of different strategies, or just run.
And yeah, Aerorius's idea's pretty cool. And horseback combat would probably be used to a large extent too.

Re: a HUGE battle?

They did imply that would happen in TP, as there was a small army of bulblins in the first trailer (just before Link appeared)... I guess they just decided to cut it aout

Re: a HUGE battle?

I would like something like that to happen. Remember the Bulbin camp in gerudo desert, TP?

Until you took down the bulbins on the watchtowers, the regular bulbins kept spawning. It was quite awesome. However it was a shame that you couldn't come back for more.

I think it would be cool if the game forced you to fight for X minutes or until you killed an arbitrary amount enemies and then forced you to leave the battle to help in some other way, say to blow up a bridge to hinder enemy reinforcements from arriving, but you're challenged on the bridge by some knight or something - a boss battle.

OK I know that sounds incredibly cliché but that kind of scenario would make things a little more interesting I think. Think of the battle of Helm's Deep in the LotR movie, a lot of stuff is going on and the heroes are helping out all over the place while the regular troops are doing most of the grinding.

Re: a HUGE battle?

I think it would be awesome to actually see the enemy attempt to actually wreak havoc upon the world. I mean, in OoT, you went in the temple of time, pulled out the sword, and woke up 7 years later to find that Ganon had taken over the world. I always wondered what that battle must have been like. To actually fight in a massive battle like that would be amazing, if implemented correctly.

Re: a HUGE battle?

That would make the game more fun, I guess. It would be neat to see if the right details are added to make it look cool.

Re: a HUGE battle?

It would rectify how unreasonable past Zelda games have been.

I mean, having one or two monsters at a time in the Dungeons is okay, those are temples that have usually been abandoned for years.

But when you storm Ganondorf's lair, there should be enemies at every turn.

maybe the monsters can come in waves and u have to get through them to get into the castel and kill ganondorf. and after each wave the monsters get harder.

And how come you never got to fight a huge armada in WW? That would have been AWESOME!

That would be awesome. However, i'm not sure Link's dinky little sailboat would stand a chance against a fleet of enormous battleships.

Re: a HUGE battle?

I'm definitely for this. I've had this idea in mind for awhile, being an avid Lord of the Rings fan, but didn't want to voice it for the fear of stupid flamers.

This would be epic. A whole phase, which could lead to a 1 on 1 showdown with Ganondorf or another antagonist *coughVaaticough*

Huge epic battles are SO do-able, Suikodens been doing them since the 90's.
