next zelda

I think certain in-game elements could give the next Zelda game much more depth, as well increase the difficulty a little bit (no difficulty setting, just make it more challenging again, screw the casual gamers). NOTE: if I took an idea you had and you find it in this post, it's because I like it, not to try and take credit for interesting ideas (first one I got from Fulcon, it's a good one)

I think that recovery hearts (the kind we find in pots and grass) should become much scarcer, (if not non-existent?), so as to increase the urgency of avoiding damage, as well as to give more purpose to finding empty bottles and stocking up on potions. I never really used potions in past games, because there was such an abundance of hearts and magic jars everywhere you went.

Fairies should become rarer, and maybe you can only hold one of them at a time? This will also keep the game a bit more challenging.

I also think that rupees should become scarcer (not in every single pot or blade of grass), because once you fill up your wallet, many of the sidequests that lead to a chest full of money suddenly just become a waste of time. Things should be more expensive, it should be harder to fill up Link's wallet, and there should always be something Link needs to buy/spend money on, so as to make every rupee sidequest worth the effort (I also liked how TP wouldn't let you waste a chest of money if your wallet was already full).

More character-driven, interactive, and expansive sidequests are definitely a plus. This was absolutely the best part about MM, and it dropped down in WW, and was barely there in TP. This needs to come back strong.

Fighting enemies should require a little more evasive maneuvering, too, instead of just walking up, slashing a few times, waiting for them to get back up, then giving the final blow. Some combat combos would be awesome too (a la Prince of Persia series)

I'd be down for bringing the magic meter back, and some new magical items along with it. Din's Fire, Magic Arrows, and the occasional shooting a beam out of your sword (Oni Link style) and a few others are the only offensive magic items in the series. Most thus far have been defensive items (Magic Armor, Nayru's Love, etc.). Some cool attack spells/items would be an interesting element to add to the game.

What else do you all think would be nice to see in the next Zelda game?

Re: What Would You Like To See In Zelda Wii?

something i would like to see in the next zelda game on wii would be that hyrule should have hidden villages and forests that have no relevence to the story and are there purely to be discovered and would contain side-quests and have more trading systems and stuff also i have thought the idea of having a mountain you can climb and a valley you can climb down i have thought about there possibly beeing a secret village or civilisation at the bottom of the valley and maybe some kind of secret item at the top of themountain such as a pariaglider esque item so as to get down from mountain and cross gaps also maybe a yeti kinda like the one in tp except more like a monster so it would be an enemy my favourite idea is have a vast misty forest which isnt like lost woods from Oot or tp i mean a forest which is made up of individual tree's instead of corridors with tree like textures and doesnt have a door and the deeper you explore the more dark and misty it gets and there is some kind of beast in the woods which makes creepy sounds every now and then and will eventually confront you i love that one anyway let me know what you think

Re: What Would You Like To See In Zelda Wii?

I think that the magic meter should definitely brought back, I think that it's wrong that they made TP without it! No zelda game is complete without a magic meter.

I also would love to explore a more vast Hyrule, I'm not saying I want it to go one forever, I just want it to be more fun to explore. It seems that every location in Twilight Princess was there because it was connected to the plot, I think it would be nice to have a place in Hyrule that is there for no reason at all.

And finally, although I am relatively sure that this will never happen, I want to see a comeback of the Gerudo,Hyrule felt a little empty in the absence of the band of theives.

I want to see more dungeons. A harder difficulty. More sidequests. A larger more detailed overworld, again with many villages and places to visit and things to do not neccisarly pertaining directly to the storyline.

Agree with this.

I want to see the size of the cast and game world get scaled back - make them something on par with the worlds in Majora's Mask and Mother 3. Faceless NPCs and huge expanses of empty made WW and TP's attempt for epicness come off shallow (though WW's cast was pretty solid). Scale back the scope, give the we'll care about saving, and bam, a more involving play experience.

Also, I want to see a game open up with the intensity that LttP did. No more do gamers of the 3D era need village tutorials that take a unbearable amount of time to get through.

Link's Awakening would like to disagree with you.

But yeah, a SMALLER overworld. TP and tWW seemed to think big expanses of NOTHING= interesting, I'd much rather see a really busy use of a small space- Clocktown in MM had more going on than the whole of TP's Hyrule.

Re: What Would You Like To See In Zelda Wii?

I would like to see gore, you know when Link slashes an enemy, i expect to see limbs flying off, left right and centre, blood coming out from the limbs like a fountain, 'Kill Bill' style. An arrow going right through an enemies eye, and then you can see them pull it right out of their head with the eyeball still stuck on the arrow, but still continue to fight. Yeh over the top gore ftw.

Nah i'm only joking, but that would be cool LoL.

Re: What Would You Like To See In Zelda Wii?

I think all that zelda needs is an amazing and compelling storyline (TP and tWW did an amazing Job) and more NPC interaction (A la Majora's Mask)

Re: What Would You Like To See In Zelda Wii?

I'm still down with a large-scale map (a la WW and TP), just so long as there is something to do everywhere you go (not vast emptiness with pointless NPCs)

I want to constantly be stumbling on something new to do that doesn't necessarily pertain to the main quest.
