Link...has no sword.

Okay, in this next game, I'm of the opinion that Link won't have a sword. Ever. This is just a theory that can be proven wrong at anytime, so don't go flaunting it around as fact, but the thing that has me saying this isn't the lack of sword in Link's hand in this artwork...



...it's the lack of a sheath on his back. I'm not the first to theorize like this, I know but I can't find the appropriate thread.

Discuss, or point me to the right thread.

ok nice theory, but why? Why dosn't like have a sword? what is he going to use to fight? remember he still has a shield so if your thinking futuristic, a gun reallly wouldnt work. Or is link giving up fighting evil in hyrule to fight the evil of big buisness by growing produce to sell ?

Haha...no.

I'm not thinking Futuristic (I already have a thread dedicated to that) for this game, I rather think...well, I do hope there's a pistol in the game, but it's most likely going to be a Crossbow.

I'm open to the idea of a sword-less Zelda if it means more focus on the rest of the inventory, but it's never going to happen.

Because sword-fighting is kind of a series staple, wouldn't you say? It'd be like Mario not being able to jump.

What? Would he not use a weapon at all? I think it'd be freakin' awesome if Link used a spear. One he could throw, or use in melee.

But I say they tossed it out to do just that! Miyamoto pointed out no sword in hand...and I pointed out no sheath on back.

Didn't Miyamoto talk about the swordplay in Wii Sports Resort and reference Zelda Wii?

I'm currently hoping that instead of a sword as the main weapon we get something more versatile to allow for a more fluid control scheme, rather than clumsy item-switching every time you want to use a different weapon.

^ Why is it so bad that she would be? It makes a lot of sense, seeing as she's right where the master sword is, she has features of the master sword, she's blue, and Miyamoto pointed out that Link has no sword when they asked about her. Why is that a crap-sack theory?

Because that would be a complete DorkAge. I mean, the Master Sword has little to no sentiance, and if it's alive, why haven't we seen this before?

Link without a sword...is probably never going to happen. Its part of the game. Its part of what Zelda is.

The concept of sword fighting can definitely take a rest. Having the sword reserved for important moments could be a great idea.

Link WILL have either the master sword, another sword, or a sword like object. They would NOOOOOT think to take the master sword away from link. Even nintendo isn't that stupid.

Making the sword sentinent is crap and would ruin the series, but getting rid of the sword is a OK? Lol.
