Re: Hyrule Land Wars v8! Ocarina of Stuff-gets-cra-a-azy!

Exploration of the Lands Beyond the Great Mountain

Troops:
12 Gorons

Supplies:
none

Strategy:
It has been brought to my attention, in our preparations, that we actually know very little about the lands beyond our Great Mountain. So to correct this oversight 12 of the most friendly and charming Gorons have been chosen to explore as much of the world as possible. They will be sent out in four groups of three to take detailed notes of the landscape (paying close attention to any formations that might have strategic value), the people they meet as well as weapons they carry, and where the territory boundaries seem to be. In their journeys they will attempt to make friendly conversation with anyone they meet and will do their best to uncover whatever information they can. But they will not make their intentions obvious or reveal anything about where they come from and if the Gorons feel that the person is beginning to suspect their real intentions, the Gorons will politely excuse themselves and continue on their journey. This is a peaceful exploration so if they are ordered to leave an area they will immediately obey. If they are attacked the Gorons will use the Goron Roll to attempt to get away, they will only fight if there is no other option.

Notes:
I structured this like an attack strategy cause I didn't know any other way to go about it. Let me stress again this is a peaceful exploration, so I don't see any reason for anyone to write a defense. And I am hopeful to gain at least a little insight into the peoples they meet, because the soldiers the Gorons will meet are not commanders or generals; they are patrolmen and while there are some who will take their job seriously I'm sure there are at least an equal number who would welcome a chance to make friendly conversation on an otherwise lonely job. Finally, because my Gorons are trying to be as unnotable as possible word should travel very slowly (if it travels at all) up the chain of command so no one else should have "in game" knowledge of this exploration.

Re: Hyrule Land Wars v8! Ocarina of Stuff-gets-cra-a-azy!

So you're sending Gorons to interview low-ranking troops of the rest of Hyrule, then?

Good luck getting past the trigger happy Beamos's I already stated were there without me figuring it out.

I suppose that's one way to look at it and like the strategy says if the Gorons are attacked they will retreat and move on. But you would really have your troops shoot first then attempt to ask questions later?

Re: Hyrule Land Wars v8! Ocarina of Stuff-gets-cra-a-azy!

If someone has a reasonable argument that they would discover the Gorons, then have a good reason to attack them, then I'll do up a quick war mod moment, but if not, then I really don't see the need, considering Zeldafreak's retreat orders and his peaceful exploration around whatever he can peacefully gain access to.

Yeah, if they're just going to leave afterwards, I see no need to retaliate, or way for me to know about it in the first place. You're good.

Re: Hyrule Land Wars v8! Ocarina of Stuff-gets-cra-a-azy!

Hey Pretendo, there's a few things you need to fix in your updates. First, you only have one base so you shouldn't be able to recruit 200 troops in weeks 6, 7, and 8. Second, somehow you managed to come up 200 troops less than everyone else on week 8 (your total should be 2301). Finally, once the project to recruit Barinade finished, he needs to be listed in the Troops section of your updates, and Barinade should show up in your total number of troops.

I looked back through your updates and for Weeks 1 and 2 you claimed to recruit troops, but didn't actually add any troops to your army.

OoC:
I'm n0t sure what's happening, but everyone please check your troop totals and if you don't have 2500 (plus your hero units) on game-week 10 then a mistake has been made somewhere in your previous updates.

OneHungryHippo - there are several things that need to be fixed in your updates. First, it takes 6 game-weeks to mass produce an item; 4 game-weeks to train your troops; and 4 game-weeks to recruit a hero unit. Somehow the time period to accomplish those tasks got mixed up in your updates. Second, you need to add a Completed Projects section to your updates and once a project is finished it gets moved to the Completed Projects section so you stay up to date on what you've accomplished. Third, unless all you're doing is digging a long hole in the ground with absolutely no fortifications 3 game-weeks seems a bit short to build trenches. Fourth, like several others thus far, your troop total is smaller than it should be (you should have 2301 by game-week 8). Fifth, how are you able to recruit Stalfos, Moblins, and Wolfos? All those units exist in the Forest Temple, which is not part of your domain. Finally, you need to answer Midna Fan's request to provide information about your Aristocrat units. What are they? What are their capabilities? Essentially, why did you bother to create them? You may have a perfectly good reason, but Midna Fan needs to know the reason so he can accurately mod any battles that include your Aristocrats.

It's only week 9 until noon EST today.

Someone's jumping the gun

No calling dibs either, first person to get a post up with that project at 12 pm EST gets to do it

(All other landwars have gone by EST time, so Midna Fan since you didn't specify a time zone in the opening post it is only right to go by what we've goine by for forever.)

Re: Hyrule Land Wars v8! Ocarina of Stuff-gets-cra-a-azy!

Letter to ZeldaFreak: Alright, I think we've come to a stalemate. I've had my eye on that Ranch as much as you have, and I know that whoever ends up with the base- at this rate- will just be attacked by the other shortly. So how about we make this a bit more interesting: A contest between our best base units, in Hyrule field- last team standing takes all?

The terms would be, you'd have to use variations of your base units alone- Since you only have two types of units, I'll just let you use some Lizalfols and Gorons, while I'll be sending Gerudo fighters. I think 200 total would be reasonable, so 50 each of my units, and 100 or so of each of yours. It shall be a battle to the death- but I'll bring fairies from my fountain to revive all the units of both teams at the end. Whoever wins gets the base, with the promise of no attacks for at least 10 weeks.

If you're in, we can have this contest today. If not, expect me to come in and take the base by force.

No calling dibs either, first person to get a post up with that project at 12 pm EST gets to do it

(All other landwars have gone by EST time, so Midna Fan since you didn't specify a time zone in the opening post it is only right to go by what we've goine by for forever.)
Most of us (yourself included) have been jumping the gun with our updates all 10 game-weeks so far, why should this be any different? I posted first so I have first dibs. However, if you want to turn Eletricut and I's showdown into a 3-way battle for Lon Lon Ranch I would be willing to let you join. It would have to be a true 3-way battle, though, you and Electricut would not be allowed to use your alliance against me.

@Electricut:

You make a very good offer. Before we do this I just want to make sure I'm clear on a couple points.

The above quote is just to make sure the contest is between you and I with no help from our allies, but whatever enhancements can be made to our units from the available items in our inventories is still fair game, right?

The other thing (and maybe Midna Fan needs to weigh in on this one), would the winner of the contest still need to do a 10 week project to claim the base?

And for the sake of adding some suspense. I propose we both PM our strategies to Midna Fan and then he will post the results in this thread.

I'm going to be away from a computer for most of the afternoon. However, I will look for a response at the first chance I get and will have my strategy submitted to Midna Fan before Monday.

Yeah, Lefty can join, too. Should've expected as much...

Also, yes ZF, I agree with all of these points.
