Vash was contemplating suicide after running into Legato. Not to mention the anime leaves out a lot of gruesome things Legato does in the manga, such as how that whole town died (think Pied Piper and meat grinders).

For the record, Wesker was epic in Resident Evil 5, because not only do you really get to fight him, but he actually DIES! Hooray!
