(ZGen) Legend of Zelda: the Cursed Goddesses [T]

Yeah okay, I know I'm in the middle of another story, but I just had this need to write this one. It takes place hundreds years after WW in the new Hyrule Link and Tetra set out to find. I hope it's okay.

I didn't name this guy because I haven't thought of a name yet, but I don't think it maters for the story.

Prologue

The man stood in his bed chamber watching out the window. A few moments ago, an explosion had come from one of the towers of the large island castle. His guards had run toward it only to be thrown back and a fight broke out. He had just watched the struggle and it died down after awhile. Now he just had to wait for a report.

After a few moments two men walked through the door. He did not turn to look at them. His eyes where fixed on the dark waters of the ocean. One of the men stepped forward. He seemed a little nervous as he bowed quickly.

“My Lord,” He said. His voice was calmer than he appeared to be.

“Yes?” The original man said still not looking.

“As I’m sure you’ve seen, they tried to escape, sir. We managed to capture two of them but….one managed to get past us. We sent out search parties but she could be hundreds of miles away by now.”

The man had now turned around to face the two. His cold emotionless eyes rested on the one that had been talking. His face was blank, but he did not appear happy.

“Call off the search parties,” He said after a long silence.

“But, sir…” The man began but was cut off by the man’s angry stare. “Yes, sir,” He said after a while and bowed before leaving the room. He seemed relieved.

The second man remained in the room. A twisted smile grew on his face as he watched his king.

“Which one?” the evil man asked turning back to the window.

“Take a guess,” the other said not showing as much respect as the man he had come in with.

“I was wondering how long it would take her. She never could stand still. I expect you to find her soon.”

And with that the man left leaving the original one alone once again. He stared out at the ocean and scanned it. Search parties were pointless. The girl was far away by now and by the time they found her she would be at full strength. Even a large group of soldiers would not be able to bring her back and it would cause too much commotion. She most likely would hide where there are a lot of people, knowing that he could not send anyone after her without raising suspicion. She was a clever girl and there was so much more too her than anyone could tell, but he had more up his sleeve than she believed. Even if he didn’t catch her, she would be back to save the other two.

* * * * *

Hundreds of miles away, a young girl flouted in the waters of the Great Sea. Her hands gripped to a piece of wood with the last of her strength. Large cuts and broses covered her body. She was only moments away from death and the only thing keeping her from letting go was her will to keep living. She had drifted hundreds of miles in only a few hours. She didn’t think back to the memories of the horrors she had seen that caused this situation. She was there and that was that. She was hungry and thirsty as well. She wondered if the hunger and dehydration would kill her or if the wounds would get her first. As these thoughts came through her mind a wave crashed over her pushing salt water into her open wounds. The pain was unbearable and she would have screamed if she had the strength. Suddenly, a line appeared in the horizon. She could see it through the tears in her eyes. It was a coastline and it was getting closer. She didn’t know where she was and she didn’t care. There was land and a chance to live through this hell. A weak smile stretched across her face and she lost consciousness.

Chapter 1

“With the last of his strength the Hero of Winds thrust his sword into the Evil Kings forehead sealing him in a stone statue. As the waters began to cover the land the Hero and Princess found that they could breathe under water and they flouted up to the surface. They later set out to find a new land to call Hyrule. They sailed for years until they reached a coastline, but all they found was a wasteland. They sailed along the coast and finally reached an oasis surrounded and protected by mountains. It is there that they began to build the Kingdom and where we still reside today,” The woman said looking around at the smiling faces of the children. Her brown hair was just beginning to gray and her eves still sparkled in the light of the fire of the candle sitting next to her. She wore a patched up skirt with a cream colored apron that was beginning to wear out. She smiled warmly at the children before her.

They were sitting in a small room that also functioned as a kitchen. A long table sat in the center with fourteen chairs around it. The kitchen looked as though it where thrown together. The stove was small and wood burning and a sink sat off to the side. There were three doors that led into bedrooms and one that led outside. A mound of shoes sat next to the outside door. There were two windows, one over the stove and another across from the woman. Everything about the orphanage seemed old but sturdy. The woman sat in a rocking chair in the right corner of the room. The children sat on the floor around her. An older boy stood leaning against the wall next to one of the windows.

“Tell us another story Miss Anna,” One of the little kids said with a hopeful look on his face.

“Chris it’s getting late. You should all go to bed,” The older boy said with a smile.

“But Link we want to hear another story,” a little girl said to him then turned back to Anna. “Please, just one more.”

Being 15, Link was the oldest child in the orphanage. He had bleach blond hair and blue eyes. He wore a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and brown pants. He normally had brown boots but they were hidden somewhere in the pile of shoes. He looked at Anna as well. All the children wanted to hear another story. It was up to her to decide.

“No it’s late and you all need to sleep,” Anna said and the children began to protest.

“Okay, Okay,” Link said and the room fell silent. “Miss Anna said ‘no’ so off to bed with all of you.”

All of them moaned and walked into their rooms; girls in one, boys in the other. Link shook his head and walked over to Anna. He remembered these stories back when he was younger. He was the first orphan here and he watched as the others came to live with them. He couldn’t remember anything from before Anna found him, other than his name. He knew all of the orphans better than anyone else could because he took the time to get to know them. They all looked up to him.

“They always want another story,” Anna laughed as she stood up.

“I guess it’s just fun for them to imagine such things,” Link said smiling. “That’s the first time you’ve told that story in five years. I was surprised.”

Anna just smiled at him and walked into the girls’ room to tell them goodnight. Link waited for a few minutes before walking over to the window. The half moon was shining bright in the sky, blocking out several stars. It reflected on the glassy waters of the Great Sea. He could hear the waves crashing against the sand. It was a peaceful night. He walked out the door and onto the porch. The orphanage was on a small hill overlooking the Sea. There was a small path that broke into two with one leading to the beach and the other to a small road that wasn’t visible in the darkness. He walked down the beach path and stepped onto the cool sand. He stood there staring out at the water. He had a strange feeling that he couldn’t really explain. It was like something was calling to him from out at see, but he just stood there with his eyes fixed on the horizon. A sound popped into his head. It sounded like a girl singing a sad song.

He heard footsteps on the path behind him and tuned to see who they came from. Anna stood at the edge of the path waiting for him to stop daydreaming. He knew what she was thinking. He had been with her long enough to tell what she wanted just by the looks on her face and right now she was thinking *Get inside and go to bed.* The singing had stopped now and the feeling went away. Without saying a word he walked back onto the path. Anna turned around and went up ahead of him. He walked back into the house and into the room where all the boys slept closing the door behind him. They all were in bed with their eyes closed. Link knew none of them were really asleep. They had all been up talking a few minutes ago, but had stopped when he entered the room. The room was small with only one window. Bunk beds lined the room. All the beds had a chest in front of it and a night stand next to it. Link walked up to a bed on the far corner of the room and claimed up onto the top bunk of the bed. He stared up at the ceiling for about an hour before drifting of to sleep. His dreams where filled with the sound of a young girl singing. Link would search for the source of the voice, but could never find it.

The next morning Link woke up just as the sun was rising. All the other boys where asleep and he had to be careful not to wake them. He jumped down from his bed and landed softly on the wood floor. He stepped quietly out into the main room of the house. No one else was awake yet. He snuck his way to the door, not bothering to find his boots. It was a beautiful day outside. There where no clouds in the sky and the sun was already shining bright. Link closed the door gently and ran down the path to the beach. He did this everyday. He loved running on the beach in the morning and he always woke up before everyone else. He started running south down the beach. A soft breeze blew through her hair as he ran. After about a half hour, he stopped as something caught his eye. He turned his head to the ocean to see a dark mass about a mile out. He ran up to the water and looked out over the water. It was hard to see because of the sun but he could just make out the outline of a body. Without much more thought he dove into the water and swam out to sea. The current was against him so it took more effort than it would off. When he finally reached the figure he grabbed onto the board it was clinging to. As he caught his breath, he looked over at the person he had seen. It was a young girl around his age. She was on her stomach, but he could see her moving up and down with slow labored breaths. She was alive but just barely. He swung around and paddled the board back to shore. The way back went faster thanks to the current.

When he finally reached the shore he pried her fingers of the board and flipped her over. She was covered in large infected wounds. Her cloths were torn and bloodstained. It was a blessing that she was even alive right now. Even in this weakened state she was beautiful. She had long black hair and pale skin that could just be from loss of blood. Her ears were long and pointed, obviously Hylian. Her eyes where closed and she was lost in a state of unconsciousness. Link was amazed that she was still breathing and that sharks hadn’t gotten her. He didn’t waist time on it though. He scooped her onto his back and ran back to the orphanage. She was surprisingly light and didn’t impair his speed as much as he expected. It still would take him a while to reach the orphanage. Suddenly, the girl opened her eyes halfway. Link wouldn’t have noticed if she hadn’t let out a small moan. He turned his head to her, slowing down a little so he wouldn’t trip.

“What..?” She started weakly before flinching from the pain.

“It’s okay,” He said softly trying to figure out what she must be thinking. “I’m trying to help you. My…friend, Anna, can help with your wounds. She’s good with that type of thing. I promise you’ll be fine.”

“Thank….you….I…” but before she could finish she passed out again.

He turned to look back in front of him and picked up speed. He soon made it back to the small building. He didn’t even bother to fallow the path. When he reached the porch he kicked it open with his foot, unable to use his hands without letting go of the girl. He was relived to see that Anna was the only one awake.

“Link you’re back earl…..goddesses!” Anna had turned around to and seen the girl on his back. She had a horrified look on her face and stood frozen.

“I found her on the beach while I was running. She needs medical attention,” Link blurted trying to catch his breath.

“Bring her here,” Anna said running over to her room and opening the door. She walked in and Link fallowed close behind. The room was small but homey. A small dresser sat on one side of the room and a bed on the other. There was a small window letting in only a small amount of daylight. Anna motioned for him to lay the girl on the bed then ran over to a chest in the room that housed her medical supplies. Link placed the girl gently on Anna’s bed. The moment her head was placed on the pillow, her eyes snapped open and her hand shot up and grabbed Link’s shirt, pulling him forward. She had a strong grip for someone in her condition. Her beautiful emerald eyes were staring directly into his. She seemed angry and afraid at the same time. It scared Link a little.

“Who…?” She asked in a hoarse voice.

“I’m Link, I’m not going to hurt you,” Link answered a little panic sounding in his voice, but at the sound of his name she seemed to soften up.

“I’m Saria,” She said as if she were snapping out of some sort of illusion. “I know you. You’re the one from before.”

“Yeah, I found you on the beach. You should rest now,” he replied moving her hand off his shirt.

“I owe you Link,” Saria said ignoring his advice and lifting up her head. “I’m in your debt.”

Link just stared at her for a few seconds then said, “You need rest.” He stepped away from her as her head dropped against the pillow. She gave him on last look before falling back into unconsciousness. Link turned back to Anna who was watching him. He smiled and left the room, knowing exactly what Anna was thinking. As he left he could her voices coming from both of the other bedrooms. The kids where waking up and none of them knew about Saria. He wondered how he was supposed to tell them. He sat down at the table and waited. Every few minutes one of the kids would come out and ask about breakfast. He would just tell them that Anna was busy and breakfast would be a little late. About a half hour later, Anna came out of her room. Link looked up at her and she nodded at him. He smiled.

“I can’t watch over her though,” Anna said as she got ready to make breakfast. “I have to take care of the others. So I need you to stay with her for a while. If she wakes up give her some water. I’m sure she’s thirsty. I’ll make some soup for her. She seems to be healing quickly.”

“Okay, but what are you going to tell the kids?”

“I’ll think of something. Now go.”

Link stood up and walked into Anna’s room. Saria was bandaged up and under the blankets in Anna’s bed. She looked so peaceful as she slept. Link pulled over one of the chests that were randomly placed around the room and sat down on it. He smiled at Saria and stood watch over her. After a while Anna came in with some breakfast for Link and later a small pot of soup that she set on a small table. Link stayed there watching over the sleeping girl.

Re: (ZGen) Legend of Zelda: the Cursed Goddesses [T]

Here are my next two chapters

Chapter 2

Saria opened her eyes and stared up at the darkness above her. After a few moments she could make out the wooden ceiling of the small room she was now in. she pushed the blackest that covered her off and sat up. The room was small and cozy, nothing like the places she had lived in just a few hours ago. A young boy sat a few feet away from the bed and she recognized him immediately as Link, the boy who had saved her. He had been watching over her while she slept but now had fallen asleep himself. She had to be careful not to wake him. She looked down at herself. Her wounds had been carefully cleaned and bandaged. It would take someone with great experience to do such a job. She no longer wore her torn blood stained tunic. In its place was a large blouse that was made for a woman twice her size. It fit awkwardly and could almost be a dress in length. She still wore her same shorts for they weren’t badly damaged.

She swung her feet over the edge of the bed and waked over to the door. It opened silently and she stepped out into the main room of the house. She took a moment to observer her surroundings. This house was obviously home to several children, but the owners lacked money. Everything was old and needed to be replaced, but it seemed they found a way to live happily in these conditions. Saria was startled by the sound of air passing through someone’s lips and turned to face the culprit. She quickly calmed down at the site of a woman fast asleep in a chair a few feet away. The woman was middle aged and heavily built. Kindness showed on her face even in her sleep and Saria knew she would be no threat to her. She also guessed that this woman was the owner of the shirt she was wearing and no doubt the one who had cared for her injuries. A smile stretched across the young girls face as she watched this kind woman sleep, but she turned around and it was gone. There where three doors besides the one she came through. Behind two of them came the sounds of children sleeping, obviously leading to other bedrooms. The other led outside.

She walked gracefully across the room. Her feet barely made a sound as they passed over the old floorboards. When she reached the door, she opened it and stepped out into the cool night air. She closed the door gently behind her and stepped off the porch. She then fallowed the path down to the beach. She stepped on the sand and looked out at the Great Sea trying to figure out where she was. She saw no islands or landforms to say where she was. She moved her eyes along the coast. There was no end that she could see.

*Hyrule* She thought to herself.

* * * * *

Back in Anna’s room Link opened his eyes. The soft thump of a door closing had pulled him away from his dreams of that voice. He rubbed his eyes and yawned, before looking over at Anna’s bed. His heart sank when he did not see Saria and worry filled his mind. He jumped up and ran to the door, through the main room, and outside, being careful not to wake anyone as he did. Once outside he looked around for any sign of her.

The cool night air stung his face. It was strangely cold out for a summer night, but Link’s mind was on the young girl. His eyes found their way to a figure standing on the beach. He ran down the path and stopped at the sand. To his relief, it was Saria. Her back was too him as she stared out at the ocean. She stood on the wet sand in front of the water. As the waves came up, they seemed to move around her, never touching her feet. A soft breeze blew through her beautiful black hair snapping her out of her trance. She turned her head and watched him through the corners of her emerald eyes. Link was frozen in place. She was beautiful beyond anything he had ever seen. The wounds seemed to have lost their affect on her, but something told him she wasn’t at her full strength yet. Her eyes sparkled in the moonlight, but sadness could be seen under the beauty. She never fully turned to greet him.

“Yes?” She asked in a smooth voice that seemed to hang in the air long after she finished talking. The sound cut Link out of his trance.

“I was just wondering where you where,” He said looking down at his feet. “You weren’t there when I woke up so I guess I was a little worried.” A smile broke on Saria’s emotionless face and she turned back to the sea.

“Sorry if I worried you,” she said. There was a warmth in her voice that had not been there at first. “I just need to come outside.”

Link watched her for a moment. He wondered what must have been going through her mind. He had so many questions for her, but he could tell this was not the time to ask her. Before he could think of something to say to her he got that calling feeling again. He walked up next to Saria and stared out into the water. Everything around him seemed to melt away. The feeling was stronger than it had ever been and he longed to answer its call. But his feet remained planted in the cool sand. He didn’t know how long they stood there, but when he finally snapped out of his trance the sky was beginning to turn a bright orange. Saria was watching him with curious eyes and he turned his head to look at her. He was drawn once again into her beauty the moment their eyes met. Now that he was closer up he could see how perfect she really was. There were no flaws in her skin and her hair shown beautifully in the rising light. But her eyes seemed to draw all attention away from those things. They were godly. No one he had ever met had such amazing eyes. They sparkled in the light, hiding what she might be thinking. But the thing that made them so unordinary was the way the seemed to stare right into his very mind and soul.

Saria suddenly turned her head back to the Great Sea, breaking the trance he had been in. Link fallowed her idea and watched the silver light of the sun beginning to shine over the blackness of the Sea. He could feel the calling again and frowned at it. A smile appeared on Saria’s face.

“You can feel something too, right?” She asked. Link was surprised by the question. Almost like she was reading his mind, she continued, “Something calling you from somewhere in the Great Sea. There are many mysteries out there, lost over the centuries by wars or floods. Several treasures hidden under the waves waiting to be uncovered. They say these things call to those who are connected to them by destiny.”

“So I’m connected to something out there?” Link asked in a confused voice. The thought of something so strange made him feel nervous. Saria laughed at his reaction.

“If you believe such things,” she smiled, almost mocking what she said moments before. The sun was now fully over the horizon now. There was a long silence between the two. The only sounds where the crashing of the waves and gulls who just beginning to wake and greet the morning sun. Another gust of wind blew across them, breaking their stillness. Link wasn’t sure what was going through Saria’s mind at that moment, but she was obviously in deep thought.

“You should meet Anna,” he said suddenly.

“The woman asleep on that chair, right?” Saria asked him, not really caring that she had been ripped from her thought.

“Yes, she’s probably worried about you. It would be a good idea to show her you’re alright. Hopefully she isn’t awake yet.”

“Why?”

“Well, I was supposed to watch out for you. If she wakes up and catches us coming in, she might think I wasn’t.”

Saria didn’t say anything, but gave him a look that showed her understanding. Link turned and walked back to the porch. Saria fallowed closely behind him. As he opened the door his fears where realized. Anna stood a few feet away staring angrily at the two. Link was startled by the appearance of the old woman. He knew she might be awake, but had no thought that she might be waiting for him. He frowned at her.

“Where have you been?” Anna asked in a scolding tone. “I thought I told you to stay watch…” But she stopped talking at the sight of Saria. She had been hidden behind Link, but now stepped to the side to see what was going on. She had an innocent look on her face and Link could tell what she was about to do.

“I’m sorry,” Saria began in her enchanting voice, with a bit of guilt thrown in. “It was my fault. I went outside and he fallowed me. I just wanted to look at the Great Sea. He didn’t do anything wrong.”

Anna was shocked, not just at what the girl said, but at the fact that she was even able to stand up. She seemed to have no trouble with moving around either. Earlier she had guessed the girl would be bedridden for at least a weak and walking would come slowly. But in just one day she had found the strength to not just walk, but sneak out of a house without waking Anna up. It was now obvious to Anna that this young girl was not an ordinary Hylain. She had to know magic at the very least. But who was she?

“My name is Saria,” the young woman continued as if reading Anna’s mind. “You must be Anna. Link told me about you. I thank you for your kindness.” She bowed slightly with her last words.

“Yes I am Anna, I run this orphanage. It is very nice to meet you Saria. You may stay here as long as you need too. Introducing you to the children might be hard though.” The older woman said, before walking over to the stove to make breakfast. The sounds of children waking up could now be heard from the two bedrooms.

“I’ll do it,” Link, who had remanded silent till now, offered. Anna nodded. Do you mind answering a lot of questions?” He asked Saria.

“No.”

Chapter 3

Link and Saria stood there waiting, as small groups of children came out at the smell of cooking food. As they came out, they would stare at Saria curiously before sitting at the table where they would whisper to themselves. Every once in a while they would turn to look at her and quickly look back at the plate in front of them. Link could make out small parts of their conversations. They mostly asked each other questions like “Who is that” or “What’s she doing here?” While others made comments on how pretty she was. The on that stock out the most though was, “Is she Link’s girlfriend?” He could feel his face turning red and turned his head so that no one would see him blushing. He knew Saria could hear them talking as well, but she seemed unfazed by anything they said. She just smiled politely at them whenever they looked back at her. Once they were all awake, Link led the Saria to the front of the table. Twelve eyes watched her questioningly.

“Okay everyone,” Link said finally, “This is Saria. She’s going to stay with us for a while, so be nice to her.” There was silence for a few moments while this soaked in. Then the children erupted with questions as Link knew they would. “Hey! One at a time.”

“Where are you from?” One of them asked, blurting his question out first.

“An island, really far away,” Saria answered in a way that would fascinate the children.

“Oh! Oh! What’s it like there?” a small girl asked excitedly.

“Well, it’s warm and beautiful. Flowers cover most of the bushes and there’s this little stream that flows into the Sea from the mountain in the center,” the Hylain girl answered, painting a picture with her words. “There are a lot of shops there so people come from all over the world to buy things.” An amazed gasp ran across the group as they tried to imagine such a place.

“So why are you here and not there?” another girl asked. Link was worried about her answer to his question, but Saria didn’t seem as nervous.

“I’ve been traveling,” She answered simply.

“Why?” a boy with red hair asked.

“Because I wanted to see the world. I always am looking for adventure. I have trouble sitting still for too long.”

“Do you have any family?” Another child asked and everyone went quiet. None of the children had ever known there parents. There where a few siblings among the group, but other than that they didn’t have a real family. Strangely, Saria seemed just as depressed about this question as they did.

“Yes, I have two older sisters.” She answered. Then she changed her tone, obviously noticing how sad the children where. “But you know, families come in all shapes and sizes. Anyone who you care about and who cares for you the same way is your family. You’re all each other’s family.”

The children smiled and seemed satisfied with all of Saria’s answers. Anna gave everyone their breakfast. Link was quiet during the meal. His eyes were on Saria the other time. She sat talking to some of the children. They seemed to like her a lot which was good. He wouldn’t have to watch out her all the time with the kids around. Anna would be able to watch her and the kids at the same time. So after he ate, he went for a run. This always gave him time to think and he had a lot to think about.

The day was not as nice as the one before. A coating of clouds gave the sky a choppy gray appearance. The sun was never fully hidden, but never showed at its full strength. The ocean was unfriendly and tortuous. The waves crashed further up the beach, threatening to swallow it up. Link didn’t pay attention to the ominous surroundings. His mind was in other places. He had so many questions for Saria, but didn’t know how to ask them. He knew she was not telling the whole truth back at the orphanage. They way she talked about the island seemed suspicious. It was like she was telling a story the way Anna did every night to the children. Saria was so mysterious. Wherever she was from, she didn’t want anyone to know, but why?

Links thoughts were shaken by something wet on his foot. He stopped and looked down as the wave that had hit him moved back to the sea. The waves where almost touching the grass where the beach ended. The wind was beginning to pick up now and he had to shield his face from the sand it kicked up.

*I better get home before it storms,* he thought before running back down the beach at full speed. He reached the porch just as it started raining. He took a moment to catch his breath before opening the door. Saria sat in Anna’s chair with the children all sitting around her. She was smiling warmly at them. Her eyes looked up at him as he entered. Anna was doing dishes in the sink on the other side of the room. When Link closed the door the kids all turned to look at him. A few of them ran to greet him with excited looks on their faces.

“Link! Link! Saria can use magic! She can use magic! It’s amazing, Link!” A little girl said pulling at his shirt.

“Yeah, she’s amazing!” a younger boy said pulling at his arm. Link looked up at Saria who just shrugged.

“Show us another one,” one of the children still sitting demanded. The others agreed and urged her as well.

“Okay, okay,” Saria said giving in to the children. She cupped her hands together and mumbled something in another language. Then she opened her hands. There was a small puff of smoke and a beautiful white dove flew out and fluttered around the room. The children watched in amazement and cheered happily. Saria then snapped her fingers and the dove vanished in another cloud of smoke. The children cheered for a minute before begging to see another trick. This went on for the rest of the day. Link couldn’t help but be interested as well. He had never seen magic before so even simple tricks like the ones she was showing off amazed him. After a few hours, the rain stopped and the sun broke through the clouds. Every trace of the storm seemed to vanish off the face of the earth. Anna instructed the children to go outside and play. They did as she said even though they wanted to see more magic. Link took the opportunity to talk to Saria. She was smiling cheerfully.

“Why didn’t you tell me you could use magic?” Link asked walking up to her.

“Why didn’t you ask?” she answered jokingly.

“Ha Ha, funny, but seriously that’s awesome.”

“Most of the people where I come from can use magic. It’s nothing special. These are just simple magic tricks. That’s all I can do right now. Once I heal a little more I’ll be able to use my more powerful magic.”

“Simple or not, they still looked cool to me. I’ve never really seen magic as far as I remember.”

“There are all different types of magic Link. I wouldn’t be surprised if you have seen some.” With that she stood up and walked over to Anna and started to help her with the dishes. Link smiled and shook his head. Saria seemed to say things as if she knew more about him than he did.

The rest of the day was slow and ordinary. Even with Saria around nothing seemed to change. She stayed with Anna most of the time and Link wondered what they talked about. He had no time to think on this, however, because the children constantly flooded him with questions about Saria. He avoided answering them for he didn’t know most of the answer. He had several questions for her, but could never find the right time to ask them. Once the sun set and everyone had dinner, Anna started to tell stories again the way she did every night. Saria sat at the table and listened to them. Once Anna was done, everyone unwillingly went to bed. Saria offered to sleep in Anna’s chair and allow Anna to sleep in her own bed. Anna didn’t agree but gave into the offer anyway. Link got the feeling that she knew something about Saria that he didn’t, but was too tired too think too much about it. He had been up late the night before watching over Saria and had been woken up early. He was exposited and quickly drifted of into a dream-filled sleep.

* * * * *

Link stood in an endless white wasteland. A white fog hung over the ground giving it a cloudlike appearance. A voice sounded in the distance. At first it was quite and distant and he could just barely make it out. Then it grew louder and louder becoming the sound of a girl singing. Link looked around for the source, but saw nothing but white. He started to walk forward still watching for anyone. Suddenly, there was an explosion of green light in front of him. Within the light he could just make out the shadowy figure of a young girl. The light began to fade and the shadow over the girl receded. Link looked up at the girls face….

* * * * *

A soft thump once again broke Link away from his dreams. He sat up and looked around the room. It hadn’t been more than a few hours since he first went to sleep. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and jumped down from his bed. He tiptoed as quietly as he could out of the room. The main room was cold and empty. Saria was nowhere to be found. He guessed she had gone outside again. He quietly moved to the door and out of the house. It was bitterly cold out and the moon was hidden behind a blanket of clouds, but it still spilled light over the world below. Everything looked different in the dim light. He could see Saria standing on the beach. He ran down the path to see her. When he reached the beach he stopped. In her place was a young girl with leaf green hair. She was wearing a white dress and sandals. Her skin was glowing in the moon light. He just stood there confused. He was sure he had seen Saria from the porch. The girl turned around. The moment their eyes met the illusion faded away. Saria stood there staring at him with an eyebrow raised.

“What’s wrong with you? You look like you’ve seen a poe,” She said braking the silence. Her breath was visible in the cold as she spoke.

“I might have,” Link said still a little shocked. Then he walked up next to here.

“Is it always this cold around here?”

“No, only in the winter. It’s strange weather today.”

“Ominous,” Saria said before looking out over the ocean again. She seemed in deep thought. There was a gust of frozen air that chilled Link to the bone. Suddenly, Saria pushed him with such force that he flew back a few feet. He was completely caught off guard. He turned around to ask Saria why she had knocked him down just in time to watch a flash of silver collide with the sand where they had just been standing. When the sand cleared he could see the blade of a large broadsword. *What the hell is going on?* He thought to himself.

Re: (ZGen) Legend of Zelda: the Cursed Goddesses [T]

Thanks. I'm glad you like it.

Also here's chapter 4:

Chapter 4

Link sat there in the sand just a couple of feet away from an early death. He was shaking, but from fear or surprise he did not know. His eyes followed the blade up to the person who held it. It was a large pig-faced creature with large muscles. Its skin was a dark brown, but appeared a disgusting green color in the pale light. It stared at the sand under its sword, completely dumbfounded.

“A moblin,” Link heard Saria’s voice say. He did not turn to look at her, but he guessed she had jumped back after pushing him to avoid the creatures attack. He heard footsteps from the path and turned to see where they came from. Another moblin came down from the road and stood at the edge of the beach. A knight fallowed close behind. The knight’s armor was black and decorated with hints of gold and white. He seemed to be a higher ranking than his two companions. He ran over to where Saria now stood and grabbed her right arm before she had time to react.

“We’ve been looking everywhere for you,” the large knight said as Saria struggled against him. She pounded her free fist against his chest plate, but it had no affect on the large knight. A strange purple glow was showing through her right sleeve. Link wondered what it could be.

The first moblin pulled its sword out of the sand and slung it over its shoulder. It then turned its head over where Link sat in the sand. It walked slowly too him and kicked him sharply in the chest, causing him to roll back several feet. Then it grabbed his collar and pulled him to his feet.

“What should we do with this one?” the hideous creature asked as it held its heavy grip on Link’s shirt. Link only half listened to the moblin. His eyes where fixed on where Saria’s fist hit the knights armor. Small cracks were starting to appear and they grew larger with every punch. The knight, who didn’t seem to notice the destruction of his armor, turned his attention from the struggling girl and looked at Link. He watched the boy for a moment before answering.

“He doesn’t seem to know what’s going on, but we can’t risk anything. Make sure he won’t tell anyone.”

The moblin smiled at this. It raised its fist and punched the still winded Link in the stomach. He would have flown back if the monster had not been gripping his shirt. The creature pulled its fist back again and launch another punch into Links gut. Link’s sight began to blur and the world seemed to vanish from him. The punches were extremely strong and his body would not be able to take much more. He heard Saria’s voice and then the knights. He couldn’t make out what they where saying. The moblin dropped him and he fell to the ground face first. He closed his eyes against the sand. Everything seemed so far away. He couldn’t hear anything or see anything. The world just seemed to stop. He was suddenly filled with a strange warmth. It was almost like a fire was burning inside of him.

‘Link,’ a voice called out. It wasn’t the voice of anyone who stood on the beach, it was inside his head. It was the voice of a man, a handsome one by the sound of it. The voice was calm and patient showing that its owner was wise. ‘Link’ it called out again.

*First I’m seeing things and now there are voices in my head. I have to be going crazy.* Link thought almost ignoring the voice.

‘You’re not crazy, Link. And there is only one voice, me.’

*Well, who are you then and why are you in my head?*

‘I’ll explain later. For now you must get up and fight.’

*What? How?*

‘I’ll help you. Now, open your eyes and stand up.’

Link opened his eyes. The pain seemed to melt away as he did, but the warmth did not leave him. He looked around. No time had passed whatsoever. Saria seemed to be pounding harder, but the knight remained oblivious to the cracks which were growing larger. The moblin didn’t appear pleased with stopping his attack on the Hylain. It stood above Link staring at the black knight.

“But why?” It asked in angry confusion.

“Because,” the knight answered, “the boy does not appear dangerous. He is not of any concern to us. If she….ARG!”

Saria had finally broken through the thick black chest-plat. The knight was sent flying several feet through the air as it shattered. His grip on Saria’s arm didn’t loosen, however, and he ripped the sleeve of Anna’s blouse as he went. Saria stumbled back a few steps and held the revealed arm as if it was in pain. The moblin raised its sword above its head ready to charge at her. Link quickly stock out his foot before the moblin had a chance to move. It tripped over him and fell flat on its face in the sand as its sword went flying and landed right next to Saria. She turned to look at it then at Link who was running over to her.

“It’s about time,” She said when he finally reached her. “That armor was harder than it looked.”

“What’s going on?” he asked.

“No time,” was all he got for an answer.

‘You’ll need that sword,’ the voice said suddenly.
*But I’ve never…*

‘Trust me I’ll help you. Pick up the sword.’ Link did as the voice said. The sword came easily out of the soft sand. ‘Now face the knight. He is you’re opponent.’

*I don’t think I can listen to you and fight at the same time.* Link protested staring at the knight who was now standing up.

‘You don’t have too. Just trust your instincts.’

Link had no time to respond to that. The knight was now running back toward them with his own sword unsheathed. Link swallowed hard and looked at Saria. She nodded her head and turned to the moblin who was now on its feet and charging at them as well. There was a defining silence before the knight finally reached them. He brought his sword down on the young Hylain. Link quickly moved the moblin’s sword up and parried the attack. At the same time, Saria charged at the moblin and landed a strong roundhouse kick on the side of its head. There was a sickening crack and the pig-creature flew several feet over the water before disappearing into the sea with an explosion of water. She waited but the moblin did not reappear, so she turned her head back to the other fight. Link had no idea what he was doing, but somehow managed to push the knight back.

“You fight well for a boy,” The knight complimented, before attacking again. Link jumped out of the way. “Perhaps you are the one we where told to watch out for.”

“What are you talking about?” Link asked, as he parried another attack.

“But then again, you are just a child,” the knight said before charging at Link with a fury of attacks.

The moblin sword was large and heavy and Link had trouble parrying all of the attacks. He was amazed that he could even keep it up, but somehow he did. It felt more like something was telling what to do. The feeling was similar to the one that he felt when he looked out at the ocean. However, this one was instructing him on how to fight, rather than call him. Link wondered if this was the instinct that the voice was talking about, but had little time to think on it. He swung the large blade up at the knight’s head. It collided with his black helmet, which went flying. The knight broke away from his attack and stood staring at Link. His face was doglike and covered in dark black hair. He seemed surprised at Links attack, but quickly recovered. He moved to the right, moving so fast that Link lost sight of him for a moment. Link panicked. He had trouble when he saw the knight, but now he didn’t know what to do.

‘Calm down, Link. You can not fight if you aren’t calm.’ The voice instructed.

He took a deep breath and focused on his surroundings. Everything seemed too move in slow-motion. The sound of mettle hitting the sand sounded in his sensitive Hylain ear. Link turned his sword around and thrust it past his side. As he did so, time returned to normal. He heard a cough behind him and felt blood hit his knick. He slowly turned his head. The knight stood over him with his sword ready to cut him down. The moblin blade was lodged in his stomach. Link released his hold on the blade and stepped away from the body as it fell to the ground. At that moment the warmth left him and he knew the voice had left. The knight managed to turn his head to Link, who was now staring at him in disbelief.

“You are….truly…….but….you need….to train your skills,” The knight said to him obviously struggling to talk. “And with…that….sword….you can…not….fight at….your…full…strength.”

Then his eyes rolled back and iced over. The body began to turn into smoke and a gust of wind blew it away. His sword along with the moblin’s was all that remained. Link kept his eyes on where the body had lain. Saria looked back up the hill. The moblin was gone, but Link didn’t seem to notice. He was still in shock and his chest ached. He had just killed someone and he didn’t like the feeling. Saria walked over to him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder, but, in his trance-like state, it didn’t seem to help.

“Link, I know how you feel. Let’s go back inside and you can rest. This must all be confusing for you, but you have to stop thinking about it for now. Get some sleep and I’ll explain everything in the mourning,” She said in a warm comforting voice. Link allowed her to lead him into the house. Once inside he moved slowly to his room. The boys hadn’t been woken up by the noise outside, so he still had to be quiet. He climbed onto his bed and lay down. Even with so much on his mind, he quickly fell asleep.

* * * * *

Saria stood outside the boys’ bedroom, her mind racing. Her worst nightmare had come so close to being true. They had found her, but she had managed to escape them once again. But now Link had been dragged into everything and once you’re in you can’t get out. She never wanted this to happen to him and she felt awful. She was suddenly filled with the strange warmth that could only be generated by magic. She couldn’t help but smile.

*So you’re the one who helped him,* she thought.

‘Are you surprised?’ a wise male voice responded inside her head.

*I guess not, but I had hoped to keep him out of this.*

‘It couldn’t be helped. His destiny….’

*I know, but if only he had been a little older. He’s just a child.*

‘So was I and you did not spare me from my fate.’

*That was different.*

‘How?’

*You where ready for such a venture. This was the first time he has ever held a blade. You practiced.*

‘Then find him a teacher and when the time comes send him to me.’

*I know. You should go talk to him once he awakes. I’m sure he has a lot of questions, but for now let him sleep.*

‘I understand. What will you do?’

*I have some questions of my own.*

With that the warmth left her. She turned and walked over to Anna’s room. Her door was closed, but there was a light within. Saria guessed Anna had been waken by the fight outside. She lifted her hand to knock on the door, but something caught her eye. She starred at the black marks that covered her right arm. It was depressing to see them so visible again, but she shook it off. Without waiting any longer, she knocked softly on the door.
