I don't see what's so egotistical about not wanting a negative award when you feel it is wrong.

But you see, you feel that you are too good for the award, but you say it is negative because you are implying that your ego is not as big as everybody thinks it is but you yourself know that by winning this award, you'll be downtrodden and spat on.

Way to try and twist that around. I don't feel "too good" for that award.

I didn't twist anything, only just accumulated every little reply you have made in this thread into one post.

Re: Voting For Oneself in Forum Awards

Again, I don't think I'm "too good" for the award, at least, not on the negative way that you're implying. The award is used in spite. Simple as that.

I'll say it one more time:

I wish to be removed from eligibility of other people's votes for Drama Llama and Biggest Ego. If you also wish to remove me from the other things I was nominated for, and even from voting, then so be it.

Re: Voting For Oneself in Forum Awards

Then I wish to be removed from the awards for Biggest Troll, Most Annoying Avatar, and Best Custom Rank because I feel I don't deserve these awards and I shall now go to make a thread about how I don't deserve the awards.

EDIT: Leave me in the Biggest Ego awards though. I mean, I need more votes because this award means everything to me.

Re: Voting For Oneself in Forum Awards

This is the most pointless debate I have ever seen on this forum, and believe me, I've seen it all. If you're nominated for an award, you're in the running. You can't get yourself out of an award, especially a negative one. Yes, there are negative awards. We all know this. I'm nominated for most of them. Oh well. No one, once nominated by more then one person, can somehow get themselves out of the running. No exceptions. Live with it.

Blizzaga, stop *****ing. You're destroying your reputation and creating an entirely different one in its place. Wescott, stop trying to talk Blizagga's way out of it. Any chance you previously had at becoming the next mod on this site, as so many people think you will be in that awards thread, is now practically non-existent (On a side note, you weren't on the verge of becoming one anyway). With the exception of Tiroth and that fossil Lord-of-shadow, there is no moderator "hypocrisy" or "fascism" on this site. Stop trying to invent reasons why the entire "system" is corrupt.

Want something less hardline and optimisitc? Blizzaga, how about you spend the time between now and the Winter Awards proving to people how you don't deserve Biggest Ego, Drama Llama, and whatever other awards you find distasteful.

Discount Blizzaga's vote for himself (as you aren't allowed to vote for yourself, after all), but leave the Awards alone. Whoever came up with the idea to eradicate an Award based on someone voting for themself has no experience in electoral proceedure whatsoever. Keep everything as it should be. Lock this thread and let the next major incident take place. Frankly, this little drama doesn't deserve six pages.

Well, giving in would be rewarding a slap in the face with exactly what they wanted- you're partly right, giving in would mean Blizz won, having tried to bend the rules and do things his own way. Let him do things his own way, then.

I haven't said anything out here about this, but I may as well put on my waders and make my stance clear:

The derogatory awards may, or may not, be a bad idea. They're meant in fun 9 times out of 10, and most people recognize and accept that. If, however, you feel that someone(s) is being malicious towards you, then we have channels you can go through to get that taken care of.

Now, Blizz didn't go through them, but that, in-and-of itself isn't the problem. He voted for himself to get himself out of the award, which is really not the best way to do it. He could contact a mod and ask to be removed. I know that I would've been more than happy to do so for any of the awards I was running.

But he didn't. And then the crap hit the air-circulating device.

The issue is no longer that Blizz tried to disqualify himself, the mod team in general seems to be in favour of letting people do so if they can give a good reason, but it's the fact that he didn't do it through appropriate channels, and that he (and others) raised such a huge stink about it. We have no trouble with polite requests, but we dislike blackmail.

Had people let this cool a bit, or just had their say and been done with it, then I doubt that there'd be an issue anymore.

As-is it's looking like things are going to stay as-is.

There is also, of course, the larger part of this: Why is one person allowed to derail the votes of fifty others? Sometimes there is a good reason, other times not. In this case I'd say not. If you feel the award doesn't represent you then ask for it to not be added to your profile (if we ever get that hack working again.) no harm done.

So, my stance? At the start I favoured Blizz, but as it's become clearer that there is little actual reason for his not wanting the award ("wounded pride" doesn't cut it, I'm afraid. ) and the chaos that has ensued, I really don't know where I stand anymore.
I pretty much completely agree with this post.

Everyone, has a bit of an ego. Worthy of Biggest Ego though? Most definitely not.
Most people wouldn't agree with some bad habits they have, but letting one choose how big they decide their ego is seems quite strange.

You always maintain a solid stance on whatever subject you're arguing about, and upon finding each of your points contradicted, you walk away with an attitude that suggests the other person/people didn't grasp your point, as opposed to them arguing it validly.
