The difference between being blunt and WAY out-of-line

Well I'm sure by now you all know I overreact, but how can I not with the treetment I get from certain members! Especially Twilightwolf64 and his little gang. Basically what I'm saying here is that you mods should pay more attention to the way members are "acting" rather than just worrying about language alone. Seriously, I'm pretty sure you guys have lost thousands of noobs because of the blunt dis-respect of sertain members. If you really want to avoid infighting even more I suggest you investigate spending more time on member controll instead of just sitting back and watching the fireworks. Most of what I'm saying is that if a post is reported it's probably not for language, but the fact it was hurtful to person who origionally reported it. Sure it may take more time but what would you rather have, billions of happy members, or thousands of jerks that post like they're drunk half the time because they decide they don't like someone?

Some of those members that got me upset were just a bit more blunt than what I'm used to, but a few are just plain rude and pointlessly out of line. You should have a noob-only twin-site so you don't lose as many new members. Especially because of the too proud for their own good members like tw64.

For example let's say I decide I don't like something.
Blunt:Get real, this ^%# is just plain garbage. Don't bother posting.
Rude:What is this #$%^# are you telling me that you actually wrote t his garbage. Go burn this trash before our eyes bleed!

See, big differance although they both contain cursing the second is much more hurtful and pointless than the first. I'd understand someone saying "I don't like it" because that's an honest way of saying it. Noobs might not realize the vetts are just being honest, and thus you lose a member.

It's a scary but truthful fact that some kids have l actually commited suicide because of this kind of treatment online. Thankfully for me I'm not one to give up on life cause some moron doesn't like my writing or ideas. But why take the risk

Sorry for sounding like Cody here but come on people, shouldn't you care more about keeping newer members rather than loosing one or two vetts?!

Cody actually can spell and make sense. You cannot do either. So no, you don't sound like Cody.

Anyway. I understand where you're coming from. But it's just like real life: You can't stop everyone from picking on you. You sometimes just have to take it and ignore it.

Send me a PM (with quotes!) everytime someone is a git, and we'll get them sorted. The problem is, Mods don't often visit such areas because, let's be honest, everytime we visit our IQ drops by ten, and we honestly don't have that much to spare .

Re: The difference between being blunt and WAY out-of-line

Welcome to the intarwebs.

Yes the mods are here to help. Yes they're here to make sure people play nice and obey the rules. That said, they're not Big Brother; they're not going to be watching everybody's every move for one simple reason: they're people. This simple reason also accounts for something else: people make mistakes.

Don't rely on the mods to be a personal babysitting service. If you can't deal with a problem by yourself, especially if the solution is as easy as ignoring the trolls, maybe you should take a look around and think whether forums, or any kind of internet social community really, are right for you.

Re: The difference between being blunt and WAY out-of-line

Here is the deal: The internet is a scary place. There will be lots of rude people, a ton of blunt people (me included at times), lots of people that swear, lots of people that don't swear, etc.

The reason it all works, is because several people just don't let any of it get to them. It's not that the internet can't be a serious place, because several facits of it are. The point is, people are going to be mean to you at some point. Sometimes, mean to you a lot. The question is, what do you learn from it? How do you respond? Do you act civil about it, or do you yourself go on the attack, and become just as bad as the person being rude, or sometimes even worse?

Ask yourself those questions first, before turning to the powers that be. I may not exactly get along with most of the ZU staff, especially the mods (save Cody, I love you), but I can defend them in that it's not there job to babysit every single member here. They do the best they can, and thats all we can ask.

So, maybe you should look in the mirror first, and respond to these rude people differently, or heck, not respond at all, and it will all wash over and fix itself.

But yeah, if you have a problem, report it. Don't make a dramatic thread. It happens. Mods don't see everything.

I doubt you could out-quote tw, he quotes the crap out of my posts. I can ignore this crap, but how is that going to stop him from doing it?

I understand the "big brother" bit, but seriously the mods r asking for more members. But how can they keep the noobs if they let the vetts treat them like ***t?!

Shush. Stop calling people nerds, you're the person trying to write fanfictions for a crappy American Anime cartoon, bastardizing MapleStory and you hate homosexuals and sex in general. Nerd? Much? Not to mention that you spend all your living moments at the computer.

And you're saying you have a life too? Besides anything you decide to pay attention to for less than half a second is going to be crappy. (at least with cartoons.) Please, if you're going to say something with some kind of point...try to make it a little sharper than that.
