noobish question

ok so I have my settings so that the first page of a thread displays the newst post. but sometimes (and without semblance of rhyme or reason)
when I click on a thread, it takes me either to the first post on the last page, or some other post somehwere in the middle of the thread.

I'm not sure why and it's annoying. for instance, whenever I click on the podcast thread, it puts me at the first post and I have to then go to the first page.

another time- in an I:SB thread I was involved in, every time I'd go there, it'd put me at like page 2, on some person's post.
why? and more importantly- how do i make it stop?

I'd take the settings off and go to the last post normally

That happens to me to, I'm not quite sure what they mean by the first unread post. I hate it too.

Because of traffic levels, the forums don't always update the "read" state of posts right away. It'll take you to the first unread post from your current session. Therefore, if a thread was newly created since you last logged in, and expands to 3 pages, you'll still be taken to page #1 when you click the "first unread post" link.

Just click the last page link. Or go and have a cheese sandwich away from your compy, then come back.
